In-store GameStop PS5 restock sold out — where to find inventory next

Update: GameStop is now sold out of consoles. Make sure to follow our PS5 restock guide for news on the next drop.

An in-store GameStop PS5 restock is happening today. The retailer announced (opens in new tab) it will have PS5 restock in select stores on Saturday (July 23).

As we’ve seen with previous GameStop restocks, you’ll need to be a PowerUp Rewards Pro member to purchase a console. (Alternatively, Amazon is accepting registrations for its PS5 bundles). Details of this GameStop PS5 stock drop come via Matt Swider (opens in new tab) of The Shortcut (opens in new tab). Matt is one of the most well-respected stock trackers around with highly dependable sources at practically every major retailer.

This in-store restock event will begin from the opening time of each individual store (which could be as early as 8 a.m. local time). As a reminder, this PS5 restock will require you to be a PowerUp Reward Pro member. GameStop has gated all of its next-gen console restocks behind its premium membership program since early 2021, and we expect the retailer to continue this practice for the foreseeable future.

GameStop is also notorious for selling its allocation of PS5 consoles in pre-built bundles and this restock will likely continue that trend. While bundles aren’t the cheapest way to score a PS5, at least GameStop always charges the combined retail price of the items, so you’re not getting price gouged. Make sure you check our GameStop promo codes page for coupons and discounts.

If you’d rather purchase your console online or don’t want to stretch your budget to cover a pricey GameStop bundle, be sure to check our PS5 restock hub. This comprehensive guide is updated daily with the latest updates across all major retailers.

PS5 Restock Discovery Reveals Secret Way to Buy the PlayStation Console

A new discovery about PS5 restocks at Best Buy may help you finally get your hand on the elusive console. It’s been almost two years since the PS5 was released. At release, it was incredibly hard to buy. Since then, the situation has hardly improved. Not only is demand high, but supply is constrained by the global microchip shortage and the ongoing shipping crisis. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like things are going to improve anytime soon.

Making the matter worse is that as long as demand remains high, the reseller market will continue to operate, which means resellers with bots capable of buying up stock instantly will continue to poach online restocks. Some stores are starting to do in-person restocks, but these restocks are often random, not advertised, and very limited.

All of that said, if you’re still in the market for the PS5, you should know about a newly-discovered trick. As relayed by popular Twitter account, Wario64, if you’re after a PS5 you should routinely check the best Buy app to see if your local store has any units. Why? Well, apparently when you search for PlayStation 5 and toggle the in-store setting off then on, if the PS5 shows up in the results, even if it says it’s sold out, your local store may actually have some consoles. Why this happens and how this was discovered, we don’t know, but in the comments some have confirmed it indeed works.

It’s unclear what the success rate of this trick is and whether it’s consistent then or was working this day, June 22. Of course, if any more information is provided, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. PS5 restock at Walmart today: how to get a console

Editor’s Note: While the standard PS5 has sold out, some shoppers are still having success with the $549 Horizon Forbidden West bundle.

For those planning on beating the summer heat by staying in and gaming, Walmart is yet again offering a chance to score the still-elusive PS5. The mega-retailer will have the standard $499 PlayStation 5 in stock today (June 2) at 3pm ET, and as with previous Walmart restocks, you’ll have to be a Walmart+ member to have a shot at buying one.

Essentially Walmart’s answer to Amazon Prime, Walmart+ is a premium shopping service that gets you access to exclusive deals (such as this PS5 drop) as well as perks like free shipping from Walmart.com and free delivery from your local Walmart store. The service costs $12.95 per month or $98 per year — while there’s a free trial available, you’ll have to be a paid member to participate in this PS5 restock.

The hottest current-gen console

Walmart will have the ever-elusive PlayStation 5 in stock today at 3pm ET, exclusively for Walmart+ members.

This special bundle gets you the standard disc-based PS5 as well as a copy of Sony’s popular Horizon Forbidden West game.

This PS5 offer is part of Walmart+ weekend, which runs from June 2 to June 5. Much like Amazon Prime Day, this special sales event will offer a wealth of exclusive discounts on everything from home goods to electronics.

If you do manage to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 today, now’s a particularly great time to own one. This month will see the launch of Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus subscription service, which was updated with premium tiers that offers instant access to a large library of games a la Xbox Game Pass.

PlayStation Plus Extra (starting at $14.99 per month) will get you more than 400 downloadable PS5 and PS4 titles that includes heavy hitters like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and God of War, while PlayStation Plus Premium (starting at $17.99 per month) throws hundreds of older PlayStation classics on top of that. Even if you don’t snag a PS5 anytime soon, you’ll be able to enjoy many of these titles on your PS4 before you upgrade.

As always, we expect this PS5 drop to go fast, so you should keep a few tips in mind to give yourself the best shot. Make sure your Walmart+ membership is set up well in advance of restock time, and that you already have a payment option stored so you’re not scrambling for your credit card at the last minute. Also, don’t give up too early — while the console may seem out of stock right away, it’s likely because the website is getting slammed. A few minutes of patiently refreshing the page just might work in your favor.

And if you’re unsuccessful this time around, we’re always tracking the latest PS5 restock updates to help you out for the next one. Good luck!

GameStop PS5 restock sold out — where to find inventory next

Update: GameStop is now sold out of consoles. Make sure to follow our PS5 restock guide for news of the next drop.

Last month GameStop started experimenting with weekend PS5 restocks. And it would appear the retailer was pleased with the results, as it will be holding another one today (May 28) right in the midst of its Memorial Day sales.

Details of this GameStop PS5 stock drop come via Matt Swider (opens in new tab) of The Shortcut (opens in new tab). Matt is one of the most well-respected stock trackers around with highly dependable sources at practically every major retailer. He’s been able to confirm via his GameStop contacts that the retailer will be holding an in-store PS5 restock this weekend.

This in-store restock event will begin from the opening time of each individual store (which could be as early as 8 a.m. local time). Matt has been able to confirm that only the PS5 Disc console will be available during this drop and on average each location will have around eight consoles available for sale — although, some larger stores are expected to have more.

Additionally, this PS5 restock will require you to be a PowerUp Reward Pro member. GameStop has gated all of its next-gen console restocks behind its premium membership program since early 2021, and we expect the retailer to continue this practice for the foreseeable future. You can get signed up below ahead of its next PS5 restock this weekend.

GameStop is also notorious for selling its allocation of PS5 consoles in pre-built bundles and this restock will continue that trend. There will be three bundles available during this in-store event. The cheapest will cost $718 while the other two will cost $812. All three come with a PS5 Disc console, an additional DualSense controller, and a copy of Gran Turismo 7, as well as additional items that differ depending on the bundle.

The $718 package includes a physical copy of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and a $25 PlayStation Network gift card. Whereas the $812 bundles both come with an official Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset and then either a copy of MLB The Show 22 or Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. While none of these bundles are the cheapest way to score a PS5, at least GameStop always charges the combined retail price of the items, so you’re not getting price gouged.

If you’d rather purchase your console online or don’t want to stretch your budget to cover a pricey GameStop bundle, be sure to check our PS5 restock hub. This comprehensive guide is updated daily with the latest updates across all major retailers.

Walmart PS5 restock now sold out — where to find inventory next

Update: Walmart is now sold out of PS5 consoles. Make sure to check out our PS5 restock coverage for news of the next restock.

Today’s Walmart PS5 restock is still underway. Walmart has PS5 restock available for Walmart Plus members only. News of the drop was first reported by Matt Swider of The Shortcut.

Walmart Plus membership costs $98 per year, although there’s also a $12.95/month option. However, it’s worth noting that you won’t be able to participate in the restock if you’ve got a free trial, so you’ll need to have a paid Walmart Plus subscription to participate. (You can sign up for Walmart Plus via this Walmart link). It’s also worth noting that only the PS5 console with disc is available for purchase.

Walmart PS5 restock (sold out)

Walmart restock event — tips and tricks

The first thing you’ll want to do is create a Walmart.com account if you don’t already have one. Enter your address and credit card info so that in the event you score a console, you can quickly checkout. You’ll also want to know the correct landing pages for the PS5 at Walmart. (You’ll find the links above).

Once the consoles are available at Walmart you’ll have to act lightning fast to secure a console and purchase it. However, it’s worth noting that Walmart tends to release inventory every 10 to 15 minutes. So if you don’t score a console on your first try, keep trying. Generally speaking, Walmart restocks have lasted from 1 hour to as long as 3 hours. So it pays to stick around and keep trying.

Many have reported that adding the PS5 to a shopping list has helped them score a PS5. To do this, sign into your Walmart account and go to the PS5 product page at Walmart. Click the “add to list” icon underneath the console’s image. You’ll then be prompted to create a name for your wish list.

The next time Walmart has PS5 restock, you should be able to add the console to your cart via your wish list (instead of going to the product page and waiting for it to show up in stock. Again, your mileage may vary with this tactic, but it’s worked in the past.

If refuse to sign up for Walmart Plus, don’t give up hope. We’re bound to see more restocks throughout the coming weeks.

GameStop PS5 restock sold out — where to find inventory next

Update: GameStop is now sold out of PS5 consoles. Make sure to follow our PS5 restock guide for news on the next console drop. (A Target PS5 restock could happen next week).

An in-store GameStop PS5 restock is happening today (Saturday). This is the first time the retailer has restocked the PS5 outside of the working week.

News of this restock comes from Matt Swider of The Shortcut. Matt is one of the most trusted stock trackers around, with reliable sources across practically all major retailers. Multiple GameStop sources have confirmed to him that an in-store PS5 drop is set to be held on Saturday, April 2.

GameStop typically holds in-store restocks on Fridays, but has delayed things by 24 hours in this instance. The reason for this unexpected weekend drop according to a GameStop insider is because “no one will believe we are selling PS5s on April fools day” (that’s a genuine quote, claims Swider).

This in-store restock will start from each individual store opening time (which could be as early as 8 a.m. local time) — but expect the most keen shoppers to start queuing before then.

As is now standard with GameStop restocks, the retailer will only offer the console in pre built bundles and you’ll need to be a PowerUp Reward Pro member in order to secure one. Swider reports there will be four bundles available during this GameStop PS5 restock, two that include the standard PS5 and two that include the PS5 Digital Edition.

The cheapest bundle will cost $630 while the most expensive package will retail for $730. While a GameStop bundle is certainly not the cheapest way to score a PS5, at least GameStop always charges the combined retail price of the items within its bundles, so you won’t be getting price gouged.

It appears that almost all of GameStop’s 3,000+ U.S. locations will be involved in this restock. In the past some restocks have been limited to as little as three stores. We don’t have a definitive list of which stores will have stock just yet, but we’re expecting to get that news prior to consoles going on sale tomorrow morning.

The demand for the PS5 has abated somewhat, so you likely won’t need to go to extreme measures like camping out but we still recommend arriving ahead of opening if you desperately want a console.

If you’d rather purchase your console online or don’t want to stretch your budget to cover a pricey GameStop bundle, be sure to check our PS5 restock hub. This comprehensive guide is updated daily with the latest updates across all major retailers.

Amazon PS5 restock sold out — where to check for inventory next

Update: Amazon is now sold out of the PS5 Digital Edition. There has been online speculation that the retailer will also offer the chance to purchase a standard PS5 before the weekend, but this is not confirmed. Make sure to check our PS5 restock hub for the latest updates and the retailers to check for inventory next.

After weeks of waiting and a few false starts, Amazon is finally holding a PS5 restock right now. The online mega retailer currently has the PS5 Digital Edition in stock for $399, but you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership to buy one.

This Amazon PS5 restock began at around 11:15 a.m. ET, and we expect the console to sell out extremely quickly so head over to the retailer now if you want to secure a PS5 during this drop. Only the PS5 Digital Edition is available in this restock, but there has been speculation the retailer will offer the disc console for sale later this week.

This Amazon PS5 restock was hinted at in February when the retailer’s PS5 listing page was updated with the notification that “Amazon Prime customers will be given priority access to the PlayStation 5 through 3/31.” Official confirmation came earlier this week from the Amazon Video Games social media account.

Amazon PS5 restock (in stock)

After weeks of waiting for any indication of a forthcoming PS5 restock at Amazon, the mega retailer finally took to Twitter to announce that it would have PS5 Digital Edition stock today (Wednesday, March 30).

Prime members will have priority access to this drop, and due to the limited nature of the PS5 restocks it’s highly likely that the console will sell out before it reaches general sale. So, if you want to score a PS5 during this restock, you’ll almost certainly need a Prime subscription. You can also get access to the restock by using a free trial of Amazon Prime.

As noted above, it appears to be only the PS5 Digital Edition that will be available during this restock. This version of the console costs $399, compared to the standard machine costing $499, and is the exact same console just minus a disc drive.

The Digital Edition has actually been the harder of the two PS5 models to get over the past year, so a restock dedicated solely to the cheaper version will be welcomed by some. Although, we reckon the flexibility of having a disc drive and the option to buy physical games is worth the extra $100 outlay.

If you’d rather score a standard PS5 or don’t have an Amazon Prime membership, make sure to bookmark our PS5 restock hub. This comprehensive guide contains all the latest restock updates and information at every major retailer to ensure you never miss a drop.

How to get early access to Amazon PS5 restock

Getting early access to Amazon PS5 restocks is pretty simple: sign up for Amazon Prime. For $14.99 a month ($139 annually) you’ll get a range of benefits including free shipping and access to the Prime Video streaming service, not to mention the potential priority access to the next PS5 restock. You can sign up below, and there’s even a 30-day free trial of the service available, so it won’t cost you anything initially.

How to buy a PS5 at Amazon

There isn’t a guaranteed formula for success when it comes to securing a PS5 during an Amazon restock, but there are a few things you can do to tip the odds in your favor.

Firstly, make sure you have an Amazon account set up ahead of time with your address information and payment details pre-saved. Getting stock in your basket is only half the battle; once you’ve managed that, it’s a race to complete check out. If you’re stuck entering your card number and zip code, odds are the console will sell out while you’re typing away.

There is a slightly odd Amazon trick that has been proven to make checking out with a PS5 easier. By placing the console in your wish list ahead of time, when it is restocked you can add to your cart from there. This allows you to bypass the listing page, which practically always crashes due to overwhelming traffic.

Using this trick you can typically get stock in your basket the minute the restock is live, and that gives you a sizeable advantage over the people who are stuck trying to refresh the actual PS5 listing page in hopes of getting it to work.

Just make sure you have the PS5 in your wish list ahead of time, as you can still add it even when the console is sold out. Do this well before the restock happens in order to make use of this trick. Trying to add the console to your wish list during a stock drop will usually lead to the website spinning out an error message.

We tested this method ourselves during an Xbox Series X restock and can confirm that it does in fact work. We managed to get the Series X in our basket four times, whereas we couldn’t get the console in our basket once through the listing page as it kept crashing.

Also, make sure to keep our guide on PS5 restock bookmarked, as we’ll update it with any additional information on the latest Amazon PS5 restock the minute we get it.

Amazon PS5 Restock Confirmed for March 30

Amazon has confirmed a PlayStation 5 restock for March 30, 2022.

The console has been very hard to come by during the first few months of 2022.

Last Christmas’s shipment boost may have caused less supply for Q1 2022, but hopefully, restocks are starting to become more frequent.

Just last week, Sony Direct went live to the public with consoles for the first time in over 100 days.

Walmart+ also held a big restock on March 14. However, some customers are still waiting for a delivery update since they’ve placed their order.

Now, Amazon is hosting its first PS5 Digital restock in a very long time. It was last in stock on November 27, 2021.

March 2022 Amazon PS5 Digital Restock

PS5 Digital consoles will be available on Amazon on Wednesday, March 30th at 8am PT / 10am CT / 11am ET.

It is not guaranteed to go live at 8am PT on the hour mark. You can sign up to Restock Tracker’s PS5 Stock Tracker to be notified immediately when Amazon goes live.

The retailer has confirmed this Digital restock through a new promotional image, as shown below.

It’s unclear whether this drop will require an Amazon Prime membership, but it’s definitely worth having an active one just in case.

Most previous drops have been exclusive to Prime members.

Will the PS5 Disc Edition also be in stock?

Amazon’s Disc page says “Amazon Prime customers will be given priority access to the PlayStation 5 through 3/31.”

However, Amazon updated this message last month and went live with consoles shortly after. The Disc edition was last in stock on February 25.

Although the Disc edition is still expected to go live before the end of March, only the PS5 Digital restock has been officially confirmed so far.

The PS5 will be available to purchase at Amazon through the following links:
