Hooters waitresses complain that skimpy new uniform shorts are more ‘like underwear’

A new look to the Hooters uniform has some employees voicing their concerns on social media.

The new-look uniform looks to make the traditionally short shorts that Hooters waitresses wear even shorter. In fact, some waitresses describe them in videos shared on social media as more “like underwear.”

Most of the videos have been shared on Tik Tok, several garnering more than one million views.

Hooters restaurants are operated by two companies, Hooters of America and The Original Hooters group, according to NBC News.

The Original Hooters has a total of 25 locations in Chicago, New York, and Tampa Bay, Florida, the report said. Those locations will not change from the standard uniforms.

Hooters of America has more than 420 Hooters restaurants in the U.S. and 28 other countries. Those locations have started rolling out the new look.

“The new uniforms were the result of a collaboration with Hooters Girls,” Hooters of America said in an email to NBC News. “These uniforms have been worn for months in several Texas markets and have received overwhelmingly favorable reviews from both Hooters Girls and customers.”

It told NBC News that it appreciates feedback “both positive and negative, regarding a more accommodating and inclusive image policy on tattoos, jewelry, nails, hairstyles as well as new uniforms — to include new top styles, shorts and the addition of socks.”
