Days after Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi shared the stage with PCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu at a protest march in Mohali in a show of unity, the cricketer-turned-politician skipped the wedding of CM’s son on Sunday.

Among those present at the function were Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat and party’s central observer Harish Chaudhary.
While the wedding ceremony was underway at Mohali’s Sacha Dhan Gurdwara,
Sidhu, minister Vijay Inder Singla and MLA Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal landed in Jammu to pay obeisance at Vaishno Devi shrine. Apparently trying to put to rest speculation on his absence from the wedding, Sidhu tweeted: “Darshan of the primordial mother during Navratras is synergising.” —TNS
