Trump Has Until 3 p.m. to Oppose Warrant Release

Turner Wants DOJ to ‘Just Tell Us’ the Reason for FBI Raid

House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Mike Turner is demanding to know the basis of the national security threat that lead to the FBI raid of Donald Trump’s home.

Turner said Trump “has more classified information in his head than he does in his desk.” The Justice Department, however, claimed there was an “immediate” need to enter his residence.

“We are demanding disclosure to this Committee what was the national security basis that was an apparent immediate threat that required this action as opposed to all the actions they could have taken,” Turner said during a Friday news conference.

Amid reports of possible documents concerning nuclear weapons at Trump’s home, Turner said “it depends on what the nuclear information is.”

“You can say nuclear weapons, but there are things that are highly, highly classified,” he said. “There are things that are not extremely classified, but are, nonetheless, classified.”

He said there is a “number of things that fall under the umbrella of nuclear weapons” that not necessarily “truly classified” and are, therefore, not a national security threat that would justify the FBI raid.

Turner said that if these documents rise to the level of national security threats warranting the immediate need to enter Trump’s home, “just tell us.”

He called on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Chris Wray to come before the Committee to disclose the “rational answers” for the raid and the national security threat.

Turner also said there is a higher level of scrutiny when dealing with Trump, as he is a past, and possibly future, political opponent of President Joe Biden.
