Tornado leaves significant damage in northeastern Jefferson County, Alabama

Tornado-producing storms left lines of damage late into Monday night in central Alabama. Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service in Birmingham confirmed a tornado was on the ground in north Jefferson County near Fultondale.Some of the most severe damage was reported in Fultondale, where many businesses and homes were destroyed and power lines and trees were downed.The Fultondale Fire Department requested that nobody come in or out of the city as first responders worked to assess damage and respond to calls for help. Multiple agencies responded to that area to help with entrapments and damage.As of 3:15 a.m., NWS Birmingham removed the threat of severe weather for most of central Alabama.
