Middleborough police and state troopers are searching for a man wearing military-style gear after a shooting Friday morning at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation public works depot. Police said the search was unfolding in the woods near 201 West Grove St., which is Route 28.Four to five shots were fired outside the facility but officials said no injuries were reported. Police said the incident was first reported around 9:05 a.m. and a man wearing fatigues fled into the woods to the west of Route 28. The road is closed in both directions, MassDOT said. Witnesses described the suspect as a light-skinned Black male or Asian male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a bucket hat.A reverse-911 call was issued to warn people in the area.Police specifically warned anyone living along Evergreen Drive, which leads to the Woodlands Apartments, to shelter in place. All others were ordered to avoid the area. Anyone who sees someone fitting the description of the suspect should call 911.
