Mother fighting for her life after being pinned between cars in Queens hit and run involving stolen dump truck

SOUTH JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — What should have been a Mother’s Day full of laughs and smiles turned into worry and heartbreak for one family.

Police say on Sunday morning around 8:30 a man behind the wheel of a stolen dump truck made a decision that left a woman fighting for her life.

Police blocked off 120th Avenue after the driver of a stolen dump truck tried to make a u-turn on a dead-end street.

“He hit this white BMW. He hit about three, four times,” said Sharon Brown.

There is some type of altercation and the woman walked toward the truck attempting to stop him. The woman walked away and seconds later, the driver stepped on the gas, hitting a parked SUV that slammed into another car – pinning the 48-year-old mother in between.

The woman’s daughter then screamed for help as the driver took off, leaving the mother struggling for her life.

As the victim fights for her life in the hospital, police found the truck with front-end damage a mile away in front of a church.

“I saw this construction truck here, but I was just thinking that it was a truck here, you know doing some work,” said Lena Wilson.

Surveillance footage shows the driver calmly abandoning the vehicle.

Police say the truck was stolen from a construction company and the investigation is ongoing.

This hit-and-run happened just days after Mayor Eric Adams announced a crackdown on reckless drivers in response to a spike in pedestrian accidents.
