The Golden Gate Bridge reopened after a complete closure Saturday night following a crash in which a big rig overturned, according to an
advisory from AlertSF.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 6:12 p.m. to respond to the overturned truck and traffic backed up into San Francisco and as far north as Sausalito on Highway 101. The truck flipped over during a high wind advisory on the bridge. The bridge was completely reopened by 8:35 p.m.

It’s been quite the quite the evening for the bridge. About an hour and a half prior to the overturning, a lightning strike hit a bridge tower around 4:42 p.m.,
according to the National Weather Service.

The shutdown of the bridge came on a day of multiple highway and roadway closures due to the rain, flooding and crashes on slick roads.
