4 people shot in drive-by shooting in Manchester, New Hampshire

Two shooting incidents in Manchester early Friday morning are under investigation.Around 1:45 a.m., police received a report of a shooting, and the caller made reference to the Jewel Nightclub. Shortly thereafter, a vehicle arrived at Elliot Hospital and dropped off four gunshot victims, police said.Police said the victims were wounded in a drive-by shooting that took place near Exit 2 on Interstate 293 South. Four people in a van were hit by bullets, but police said none of the victims had life-threatening injuries. Windows on the van were left shattered after the gunfire.According to police, the victims came to New Hampshire from New York for a rap concert at a nightclub. They were in a van that was seen surrounded by crime tape at Elliot Hospital. Several people who told WMUR they were in the van said they are rappers and were performing at the nightclub prior to the shooting.Authorities are looking for a white sedan, possibly a Dodge, in connection with the drive-by shooting. They didn’t say how many people were inside the car, but they are believed to be armed. The white sedan continued southbound on I-293 after the shooting, while the van that was shot at got off the highway at Exit 2 and drove to the hospital. Around the same time, officers responded to the area around Jewel Nightclub to investigate. One officer heard a gunshot and saw a blue Audi leaving the area at a high rate of speed, so he pursued the vehicle and requested assistance, police said.Officer Alexandros Hondros was able to temporarily stop the vehicle, which later sped off and another chase ensued, police said. The Audi later crashed on a dead-end street, backed up into a parked pickup truck and crashed into Hondros’s cruiser. Hondros was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered in the crash. He has seen been released, police said.Dy’vee Spencer, 21, and Jose Jusino, 21, both of Springfield, Massachusetts, were taken into custody, police said. Spencer was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, conduct after an accident, resisting arrest and disobeying a police officer. Jusino was charged with resisting arrest. “The officers who were involved in that pursuit showed significant restraint (and) professionalism in taking those two individuals into custody,” Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said.The gunshot Hondros heard is still being investigated, police said. Police said it is too early to tell if both incidents are connected. Police said the motives of the shootings are not known but will be investigated. “I also want to take a moment as I hope everyone can see, just how seriously Chief Aldenberg and I take any conduct involving violent crime.
