2 deputies dead, suspect barricaded inside Cobb home, officials confirm – WSB-TV Channel 2

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Two deputies with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office have died after being shot, officials have confirmed.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office says the deputies were serving a warrant on Thursday night when they were shot.

Sheriff’s office officials say the suspect is still barricaded inside the home.

Cobb County SWAT and FAST teams are on the scene.

Some neighbors were evacuated from their homes. It’s unclear if they were allowed back into their homes Thursday night.

“I’m like freaking out because this is our neighborhood, and nothing like this happens in our neighborhood,” one neighbor told Channel 2′s Justin Wilfon.

Channel 2 Action News crews are outside of the Hampton Glen neighborhood off of Irwin Road and at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital working to learn more information.

Witnesses tell Channel 2 they heard several shots and the neighborhood is filled with law enforcement officers.

The suspect has not been identified and it’s unclear what charges he was wanted on.

The deputies who were killed have not been identified.
