Samsung Galaxy S20 will get One UI 5.1 update soon

Last year, Samsung promised to release four major Android OS updates to its high-end and some mid-range smartphones. However, the update promise was only for Galaxy S21 and newer phones. The Galaxy S20 series is still expected only to get three major Android OS updates, which means Android 13 was its last big software update. However, there’s some good news for Galaxy S20 users.

Samsung has started testing the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra internally. The information on Samsung servers reveals that the next software update being tested has firmware version G980FXXUFHWA1. Since the tenth letter in the firmware version is H, it shows that the software is a major one. Galaxy S20 series devices running Android 13-based One UI 5.0 have the letter G in their firmware version’s tenth position (G980FXXUFGWA5).

So, this is good news for Galaxy S20 series users, as Samsung will most likely bring the One UI 5.1 update to their devices. A newer version of One UI brings a lot of new software features, and the South Korean firm had hinted that it had reserved some additional lockscreen and other UI customization features for One UI 5.1.

The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra will get security patches for up to two more years, which is far better than most other Android OEMs.
