Here’s what’s up with the Chicago’s enormous Pokemon Go Fest 2021 egg

A mysterious egg installation was erected in Maggie Daley Park in Chicago this week leading many to speculate what it could be. It turns out its part of an extra special Pokemon Go Fest 2021 for the Windy City.

The egg will be part of a Legendary Night raid egg event at the park running from 9 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. According to a news release, “Attendees will see Legendary Pokémon raids take place live, with Trainers all over the world and in Maggie Daley park teaming up to catch some of the rarest Pokémon live, projected onto a 50-foot-tall Pokémon Egg.”

In addition, Chicago’s event will be the biggest. Niantic will have street teams doing giveaways to players around downtown. It will also have the special photo-ops in Navy Pier and Ogden Plaza. Niantic said brand ambassadors will be distributing wristbands to the first 1,000 people at Maggie Daley Park on Saturday. Attendance is limited to offer socially distance space for all participants.

As someone going to San Francisco’s Pokemon Go Fest 2021 City Activation, I’m a little bit jealous of our friends over in Chicago. Niantic will have its own photo-ops along the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach and Union Square. Chicago gets the extra special treatment because of its relationship with Niantic, holding the past few Pokemon Go Fests in the U.S.
