Fortnite v15.50 update patch notes: Rapid Fire SMG, LTMs, Epic Quest challenges

Fortnite v15.40 is expected to release on Tuesday, February 16. Here’s what to expect in the update.

The rumor mill is swirling when it comes to Fortnite v15.40. Some players, who report having some inside knowledge, have called the contents of v15.40, “The most amazing thing ever.”

We don’t know exactly what this means, but we have a couple of ideas. Here’s everything you need to know about the update before the patch notes land on February 16.

Bug Fixes

Bug fixes are a natural part of any Fortnite update. We only have a few issues set to be fixed in v15.40, which may not be the primary focus of the update.

One item we don’t see listed relates to the superhero skin set. In v15.30, Epic attempted to remove the ability for players to use all-black and all-white superhero skins. Fans quickly found a workaround, however, which led to Epic removing the skins from competitive modes.

Here are all of the items listed as “Fixed in next game update” on the Fortnite Community Issues Trello Board.

  • Total Bars appearing as 0 in a match.
  • Purple XP Coins disappearing when driven through (without granting XP).
  • Matchmaking doesn’t start if unreadied player leaves early.
  • (Creative) Phone Booths do not respect island settings when players change Outfits.
  • (STW) Locating a Durrr Burger not counting towards the “Locating: Burger Break!” Ventures quest.
  • (STW) Mythic Lead Survivor portraits appear only as silhouettes.

“The most amazing thing ever”

On February 14, data miner ShiinaBR tweeted that a Japanese content creator, urara_123urara, said that v15.40 was going to be a “real mess” and “the most amazing thing ever.”

We don’t know how this creator would know what the v15.40 update has in store for the game, but this led to massive speculation within the community. What could be an amazing addition and a mess at the same time? We have no real idea.

With the Season 5 FNCS underway, it wouldn’t make a ton of sense to completely change the meta of the game. If Epic did make a large shift, it wouldn’t be the first time we saw a mid-tournament Fortnite update.

If anything huge does come to Fortnite, we expect it to be excluded from competitive modes for the rest of the season.

Weapon/vehicle mods?

Normally, we’d assume that these leaked features would be held until Fortnite Season 6. With rumors of this being a massive update, however, we’re starting to think that we may see weapon and vehicle mods sooner rather than later.

Earlier this year, data miners found files that related to weapon and vehicle mods coming to Fortnite in the future. These would be huge for the game, which is why a lot of fans assumed that Epic would hold off until Season 6.

With rumors swirling about v15.40, though, these mods are the only major leaks that came to mind. We’ll have to see what happens when v15.40 releases.

Again, we have no idea if weapon and vehicle mods are coming to Fortnite in v15.40. Common sense dictates that these will be Season 6 features, and we’re only including them because of the speculation surrounding the impact that v15.40 will have on the game.

An unvaulted weapon

Epic Games have confirmed that v15.40 will feature an unvaulted weapon. We have no idea what this is going to be, but we can guess what the bulk of the Fortnite community probably wants: the Pump Shotgun.

Apart from this weapon, it’s difficult to guess what returning weapon we could see. The Burst AR may come back, but the Heavy AR already fills that slot. We wouldn’t mind seeing the Burst stay away for the rest of the season.

If the Pump does come back, the shotgun loot pool would be relatively cluttered. We’d have the Charge, Lever-Action, Tac, and Dragon’s Breath shotguns. With all of those options, we’d probably still see most players choosing the Pump over everything else.

Whatever happens, we’ll be here to cover the changes, fixes, patch notes, and everything else when the new Fortnite update goes live. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @FortniteINTEL so you never miss out on the latest Fortnite news.
