A trailer showcasing Annie’s gameplay in Skullgirls: 2nd Encore has dropped. It was also revealed that another character will be joining after Annie of the Stars.
Annie of the Stars made her gaming debut in Skullgirls Mobile on August 14, 2020. She’s planned to join Skullgirls: 2nd Encore’s roster in early 2021.
“Cursed by the Skull Heart to never grow up, Annie has been alive for centuries. Over that time, she’s made it her personal quest to stop the Skull Heart once and for all. To that end, she has acquired numerous skills and items, including her remote parasite, Sagan. Even performing on television works to further her goals as she hopes to educate the world about the dangers of the Skull Heart.”
During the trailer, Annie is shown to fight with a sword. One of her grounded supers has her lunging forward with the blade, which seems kind of similar to Nathan Rad Spencer’s Bionic Arm hyper in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
Another super essentially functions a beam attack. Annie is able to perform this super while airborne. This attack is actually being performed by Sagan, her parasite.
She’s also shown pulling off some sort of pose during one of her supers. This is very likely a powerup that gives her some sort of boost.
At the end of the trailer, it was revealed that “a new star enters the spotlight” as a slot with a question mark appeared next to Annie. There was also another blank slot in the film next to that slot, implying the existence of yet another new character beyond that.
