Xbox Series X Controller Gets Major Upgrade

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S controller just got a few upgrades. With the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Microsoft opted to just slightly evolve its Xbox One controller, the complete opposite strategy of PlayStation, which completely broke away from the PS4’s DualShock 4 with the PS5’s DualSense. That said, Microsoft is slowly bolstering the Xbox Series X|S controller with improvements. For example, Microsoft just updated the firmware of the controller with “fixes and updates that deliver performance improvements.” That’s not all though.

In addition to some vague performance improvements, Microsoft has also given the Xbox Series X|S controller a new feature. More specifically, you can now remap the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S controller share button and assign a wide range of custom actions to it. Courtesy of the Xbox Accessories app, you can now remap the purpose of the button to mute your TV, open your friends’ list, and do many other things.

For those that don’t know, the share button allows you to take a screenshot by tapping it and to record by holding it down. Of course, not everyone finds this very useful, which is why being able to remap this button is a very handy feature. Combine this with the performance improvements, and it’s a major gain for everyone using the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S controller.

These controller improvements are just a small part of a much larger update to Xbox consoles. The update also notably upgrades the Quick Resume function and provides a new audio setup.

GTA 6 Insider Drops Information About First Trailer

A prominent Rockstar Games insider has shared some new information about the GTA 6 reveal trailer and when it will release. Grand Theft Auto VI was finally confirmed last week. Its confirmation was not accompanied by a single detail though. There’s no word on the game itself, a reveal, platforms, or a release date. We know Rockstar is working on GTA 6, and right now, that’s all we officially know. According to rumors though, the game is taking players back to modern-day Vice City, the series fictional take on Miami. Whether these rumors are true, only time will tell, but a new report claims we will find out soon.

The new report comes the way of Rockstar Games insider the Tez2, the most reliable and reputable source when it comes to Rockstar Games, and a source that relayed word of the game being confirmed this year while all other Grand Theft Auto insiders and leakers were silent.

According to the Tez2, GTA 6 will be revealed this year. The Rockstar Games insider doesn’t add much to this, but notes the trailer will be similar to the GTA 5 reveal trailer, which is to say it won’t just be a CGI trailer that shows nothing, and will rather actually show a “work-in-progress” version of the game.

The Tez2 doesn’t say when this year this will happen, but Rockstar Games has a history of revealing its games in the fall. For example, Red Dead Redemption 2 was revealed on October 20, 2016. Meanwhile, GTA 5 was revealed on November 2, 2011.

All of that said, take everything here with a grain of salt. Not only is everything here information of the unofficial variety, but it’s subject to change. For what it’s worth, we’ve heard rumblings the game will be revealed this year and given a 2023 release date, though if Rockstar Games’ release pattern holds up, it will be delayed to 2024.

At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games hasn’t responded to this new report and the speculation it has created in any capacity. Rockstar never, ever comments on reports or leaks or anything of the unofficial and speculative variety, so don’t count on this changing, but if it does, we will be sure to update you with whatever Rockstar Games has to say, salient or not.

Retailer Posts Warning to PS5 Customers About Xbox’s Activision Purchase

When Xbox announced its intention to purchase Activision Blizzard earlier this month, it led to a lot of speculation what it could mean for PlayStation 5 owners. While Xbox boss Phil Spencer has already confirmed the company’s intention to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation, there are still lingering questions about what form that will take. French retail chain Cora is well aware that future Call of Duty games might become exclusive to Xbox, and has apparently posted a warning to potential PS5 buyers in its stores. An image of the warning was shared and translated on Twitter by user @HazzadorGamin.

The Tweet can be found embedded below.

It will be very interesting to see how Microsoft’s purchase impacts the Call of Duty franchise! The sale isn’t set to go through until 2023, which means that fans have some time before any major changes come about. Still, Microsoft has been very careful about how it discusses the series. There has been some speculation that Call of Duty: Warzone will remain multi-platform, while future Call of Duty games will become Xbox exclusives. It’s unclear if that will be the case, but it’s safe to assume those games will be added to Xbox Game Pass at the very least, allowing subscribers to play them without any extra purchase. That alone could be a system selling point for some Call of Duty fans!

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are still very new, and the global chip shortage has resulted in fewer gamers being able to upgrade from their current consoles. Given that, it makes a little sense that Cora would warn shoppers about Xbox’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, and its potential impact. Not every gamer can afford multiple consoles, and if their favorite series does become an exclusive, it might mean that difficult decisions have to be made. For now, Call of Duty fans will just have to wait and see how this all plays out!

Do you think future Call of Duty games will be exclusive to Xbox? Has the Activision Blizzard purchase changed your next-gen gaming plans? Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp to talk all things gaming!

Call of Duty 2022 Reportedly Releasing Early

According to a wide range of rumors from reliable Call of Duty sources, Call of Duty 2022 is going to be a follow-up to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and a reboot of 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The expectation is that the game will be out this November, like the past two COD games, via the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. However, the latest rumor about the game suggests this expectation is wrong. Apparently, the game is going to follow in the footsteps of 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and release earlier in October. When exactly in October, the rumors don’t say, but word is the decision to pass on the usual November release window is due to the dip in sales Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War experienced the last two years releasing in this window.

The information comes the way of prominent Call of Duty insider and leaker, Tom Henderson, who notes that a “big” Call of Duty: Warzone may follow shortly after the release of Call of Duty: 2022 in October.  Adding to this, Henderson claims the game will continue a developing tradition for the series, which is wait until the summer for a reveal.

“As expected, it’s looking like this year’s Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare II (2022), will be revealed in the summer,” said Henderson. “Hearing rumblings that the title could release in October due to Vanguard’s poor sales performance, with a ‘big’ Warzone update coming soon after.”

This is where the report ends. At the moment of publishing, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward nor anyone rumored to be involved with the rumored game’s development has acknowledged or addressed Henderson’s report in any capacity. We don’t anticipate this changing, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, take all of this — which is completely unofficial and subject to change — with a grain of salt.

Hogwarts Legacy Report Warns the Game Is in “Trouble”

A new report about Hogwarts Legacy — the highly-anticipated Harry Potter game currently scheduled to release this year via the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X — warns the game is “in some sort of trouble” and in danger of being delayed to 2023. This new report comes on the back of a smattering of rumors and reports that suggested the game was on schedule to release this year and could rear its head at a rumored PlayStation State of Play in February.

The report comes the way of PlayStation insider and Sacred Symbols host, Colin Moriarty, who notes that he has been “hearing behind the scenes that [the] game isn’t coming out this year.” Unfortunately, this is more or less the extent of the report. Moriarty reveals that he’s looking forward to the game, but based on what he’s hearing, it needs a bit more time in the oven.

If this is true, it seems unlikely WB Games would resurface the game at a February PlayStation State of Play. Meanwhile, if the game is going to be delayed to 2023 it wouldn’t be a great sign. Due to the pandemic, many games have suffered and been delayed, but Hogwarts Legacy was originally slated for 2021. To slip two years wouldn’t be the greatest look.  That said, this speculation assumes the report is accurate. Moriarty is widely considered a reliable source, however, not only does that not negate the fact this is information of the unofficial variety and subject to change, but that it’s at odds with previous and recent reports about the game that claimed it’s going to release this year and get a second trailer soon.

At the moment of publishing, WB Games hasn’t commented on the report and the speculation it has created. Typically, WB Games does not comment on rumors, reports, leaks or anything of the unofficial and speculative variety. However, if it bucks expectations and issues any type of response, we will be sure to update the story accordingly.

Hogwarts Legacy is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. For more coverage on the upcoming Harry Potter game, click here.

Halo Infinite Leak Reveals 5 Upcoming Multiplayer Maps

A new Halo Infinite leak has revealed five unreleased maps, all of which are presumably coming to the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S game sometime this year. Halo Infinite multiplayer has been available for roughly two months, and many players are beginning to wonder when 343 Industries will bolster the current experience with more content. Well, it looks like the studio is hard at work on at least five multiplayer maps dubbed Solitude, Bath Salts, Forbidden, Beltway, and Cataract. That said, it’s quite possible these are placeholder names, as the information comes from the game’s files, accompanied by images showing maps that are very much works-in-progress and that, in some cases, literally are stamped with “placeholder.”

As alluded, the multiplayer maps are a datamining leak, which means there’s no room to doubt the validity of the information and media, but there’s room to doubt the implications. While on the surface level it appears these are all multiplayer maps currently in development for a future update, it’s possible this is content that got cut during development.

Below, you can check previews for some of the maps for yourself. That said, it’s important to note that the images below represent maps that are in the early stages of development, which means they are using assets ranging from placeholder to low poly. In other words, the assets you see aren’t final. They are there to provide a general idea of the map’s design, nothing more.

As always, take everything here with a grain of salt, like you would any leak. As for 343 Industries and Xbox, neither — nor anyone involved with either — have commented on any of this. We don’t expect this to change, but if it does, the story will be updated with what is provided, salient or not.

Halo Infinite is available via the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Game Pass. For more coverage on the 2021 sci-fi first-person shooter — including not just the latest leaks, rumors, and speculation, but the latest official news as well — click here.

Rockstar Games Website Updated With Possible Bully 2 Tease

The Rockstar Games website has been updated with a potential Bully 2 tease. This month, rumors began to surface that the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 Rockstar classic was not only finally happening, but going to be revealed soon. Since then, conflicting rumors have surfaced claiming that Rockstar Games is back to working on Bully, but it’s a remaster of the first game, not Bully 2. Unfortunately, for now, there’s no way to know whose right and whose wrong. And of course, it’s possible both are wrong. Whatever the case, there now seems to be even more evidence that something is indeed happening with the series.

Over on the Reddit page dedicated to Bully 2, fans of the Rockstar Games series have pointed out that the Rockstar Games website has been updated with a new logo, the same logo used by the company at E3 2005 right before the original game was announced. On the surface level, this seems like a tease that something with Bully is happening, but for now, this can’t be confirmed.

Rockstar Games has a reputation for changing its logo depending on the game on deck. For example, with Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar changes its logo to the red and black version. This isn’t quite the same thing, but it’s certainly similar.

Unfortunately, for now, all we have is speculation. At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not addressed this speculation in any capacity, and we don’t expect this to change. Not only has it not commented on anything about Bully or Bully 2 so far, but in general, it doesn’t comment on rumors, reports, leaks, or anything of the speculative and unofficial variety. However, if it breaks this tradition of silence, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, and as always, feel free to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think or, alternatively, hit me up on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ to talk all things gaming.

New Xbox Game Pass Game Is One of 2016’s Best Games

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate were recently updated with a variety of new games, and one of these new games is one of 2016’s best games. Across Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now play one of 2016’s best games. In 2016, gamers were treated to a wide range of great games, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Inside, Overwatch, Dark Souls III, Battlefield 1, Pokemon Go, DOOM, Rez Infinite, Owlboy, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, and Firewatch, the latter of which is now on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Right now, we don’t know how long Firewatch will be available with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and we don’t anticipate this changing. What we do know is that it’s a limited-time ordeal.

As for the game itself, it was developed by Campo Santo, who has since been purchased by and integrated into Valve. On Xbox One, the game boasts a very solid 85 on Metacritic, and as you can see via the trailer below, many critics absolutely loved the game.

Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness,” reads an official pitch of the game. “The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor Delilah is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio-your only contact with the world you’ve left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.”

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate are both available for $10 and $15, respectively. For more coverage on the subscription service and all things Xbox — including everything from the latest official news to the latest rumors, leaks, and speculation — click here.

Xbox Game Pass Surprises Users With One of the Most Popular Games of All Time

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate have been updated with two new games. One of these games is limited to consoles, which is to say, limited to Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. However, the other new game has been to all versions of the subscription service; Cloud, Console, and PC. Unfortunately, it’s the former that is the more notable addition. Meanwhile, if you don’t like multiplayer, then neither game is going to do much for you.

If you missed these additions, all you need to know is that both Among Us and Aliens: Fireteam Elite have been added. How long they’ve been added, we don’t know. All we know is they’ve been added and are presumably limited-time additions given that neither is from Xbox Game Studios.

For those that don’t know: Among Us debuted back in 2018 via independent developer Inner Sloth, but didn’t become popular until 2020, when it became one of the most played games of all time. Meanwhile, Aliens: Fireteam Elite debuted earlier this year via Cold Iron Studios and Focus Home Interactive to nowhere near the same popularity or acclaim.

Below, can read more about both games and check out a trailer for each game as well:

Among Us: “Play with 4-15 player online or via local WiFi as you attempt to prepare your spaceship for departure, but beware as one or more random players among the Crew are Impostors bent on killing everyone!”

Aliens: “Fireteam Elite: “Set in the iconic Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person survival shooter that drops your fireteam of hardened marines into a desperate fight to contain the evolving Xenomorph threat. Face off against waves of terrifying Xenomorph and Weyland-Yutani Synthetic foes alongside two players or AI teammates, as you and your fireteam desperately fight your way through four unique campaigns that introduce new storylines to the Alien universe. Create and customize your own Colonial Marine, choosing from an extensive variety of classes, weapons, gear and perks, battling overwhelming odds in this heart-pounding survival shooter experience.”

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate are available via Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC for $10 and $15 a month, respectively. For more coverage on the subscription service and everything else Xbox, click here.
