New Halo Infinite Details Have Xbox Fans Divided

A metric ton of Halo Infinite details have been revealed, some of which have Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players excited, but some of which have players looking forward to the new Halo game less excited. As for the details themselves — which come the way of a new Q&A with 343 Industries developers — they range from gameplay to story, and some of them are brand new while others are updates on pre-existing information.

One of the new details is that there will be a day and night cycle in the game, as well as a weather system that includes things like windstorms, but not rainstorms or snowstorms, though 343 Industries teases that this could come in the future. Tying into this, what enemies you will come across and how they behave will change depending on the time of day.

Complimenting this will be wildlife, though right now there’s no hostile wildlife. And of course, wildlife will vary across the different biomes. According to 343 Industries, the “Pacific Northwest” is the primary biome, but sub-biomes will add different environments like swamps and wartorn areas.

That said, exploration of these areas will be partly limited because it isn’t a true open-world game. However, missions allow for multiple approaches due to the open-world-like design. And to this end, you can stray from the path and explore different side content and objectives. The main story is the main story and needs to be completed in order, but there’s freedom between these missions.

Other details include word of no dual-wielding, no playable Elites, audio logs, the ability to knock things off Zeta Halo, random encounters, bases/outposts, and dynamic cutscenes that react and change depending on the time of day, weather, and what weapons you’re holding.

Lastly, players can only hold one piece of equipment in Multiplayer. Further, once you use it, it’s gone. However, there are plans to allows players to modify this via custom games.

By and large, these are all the salient details shared. However, if you want more nitty-gritty details, click here. That said, and as noted, players are divided about these details, at least over on Reddit. For example, one of the top comments is about being excited over being to knock things off Zeta Halo. However, another top comment expressed disappointment about the lack of biomes and weather variants. And of course, while plenty of the details above are exciting, many of the takeaways so far have been the lack of dual-wielding and playable Elites.

Halo Infinite is set to release worldwide sometime later this year via the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Batman PS5 and Xbox Series X Skins Will Soon Be Available

While the PS5 and Xbox Series X are hard to buy at the moment thanks to an insufficient amount of supply, millions have been able to secure an order of one or both of the consoles. How many of these millions are Batman fans, is anyone’s best guess, but if you do meet these qualifications then you’ll be happy to know a Batman skin for both the Xbox Series X and PS5 is currently in production.

Unfortunately, it’s not an official product from Sony, Microsoft, or Warner Bros., but it does come the way of popular artist POPE, who relayed word that a skin design of theirs that went viral a few months ago for transforming the PS5 and Xbox Series X into a work of Batman art is now in production and will soon be available.

Right now, this is all POPE has revealed, which means not only is there no word of when the skins will release or be available to order, but it’s unclear how much they will cost. All the artist notes is that those interested should “look out for them soon.”

What’s also unclear if there are any plans to expand the console options to Xbox Series S, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and Xbox One. That said, if this information is provided, or if any more information on the product, in general, is provided, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. Xbox Live Gold’s New Free Games Met With Backlash

Some of Xbox Live Gold’s free games for March 2021 are now available, and subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S aren’t impressed, in fact, many are now actively protesting the service. This month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting a couple of great games, including Final Fantasy 7 Remake, one of 2020’s best games and one of the last generation’s best RPGs. And this makes March’s Games With Gold lineup an even harder pill to swallow for many subscribers.

As of today, subscribers can download Warface: Breakout and Metal Slug 3, and can look forward to downloading Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse and Port Royale 3 later in the month. The latter two games are an Xbox One and an Xbox 360 game, and neither are relevant or very exciting, especially in 2021. Of course, Metal Slug 3 is a decent game in a classic series, but it’s an Xbox 360 game. And as you may know, Warface is popular, but it’s also free-to-play.

It’s not an impressive lineup, and Microsoft is hearing about it. Not only did subscribers protest the lineup when it was announced, but the protesting has continued as the games start to drop. So far, the replies to the tweet from Microsoft’s Larry Hryb relaying word that some of the lineup is now available are almost all negative, which isn’t normal.

PlayStation and Xbox Fans Upset Following Cancellation of PS4 and Xbox One Game

PlayStation fans are upset after yet another PS4 game has been randomly canceled ahead of release, though this time it’s in favor of releasing the game on PS5. Since late last year, several PS4 games have been cancelled, and now the first noteoworthy cancellation of 2021 has happened, and it comes courtesy of PQube Games and Dual Effect, who announced this week that not just the PS4 version of Tormented Souls has been canned, but the Xbox One version as well.

According to the former, the cancellation is because the pair want “to take advantage of new hardware and create an enhanced, better experience for players to enjoy.” In other words, according to the pair, the cancellation comes down to wanting to make use of the power the PS5 and Xbox Series X offer, however, the game is still coming to the Nintendo Switch, which is technically inferior to both the PS4 and Xbox One.

As you would expect, those on the last-gen PlayStation console and the last-gen Xbox console aren’t very happy about the decision nor are they impressed with the explanation. In the replies to the tweet revealing the news, you can find several disgruntled PlayStation and Xbox fans.

“Quietly cancelling the PS4 and Xbox One versions is already low, but cancelling them to begin with when the game is coming to the Switch is kind of gross,” wrote one user in response to the news.

“As a PS4 user I was very excited about the release of this game,” added another user. “It would be disappointing if that is true and I hope you will reconsider.”

When Tormented Souls releases later this year, it will be available via the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Despite the backlash, there’s been no word of reverting the decision to cancel the PS4 and Xbox One Versions. If this changes, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, be prepared to upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series X if you’re on PS4 and Xbox One and want to play this one when it releases.

Dying Light 2 Developer Denies Acquisition Rumors

Rumors of Dying Light 2 developer Techland potentially being the target of an upcoming acquisition have been greatly exaggerated, it seems. According to the studio’s community manager, Techland is still very much an independent company and hasn’t been acquired by any other publisher at this moment.

Traction with these rumors started yesterday when the host of a popular Xbox podcast shared that they had heard Microsoft was potentially looking into picking up Techalnd and making the developer part of its Xbox Game Studios stable. This then prompted a response from Techland’s aforementioned community manager after mentions of the rumor started making it into their direct messages on Twitter. “There was the same rumour floating around the internet one year ago and the situation didn’t change,” said Uncy, the studio community manager. “Techland is an independent studio and it was not acquired by another publisher.”

The news about Techland potentially being acquired comes at a time where acquisition rumors have been circling for months. Just a few weeks ago, a major new report came about that said multiple publishers such as Xbox, PlayStation, Electronic Arts, and Amazon have all been looking to snatch up various independent studios recently. Considering how Techland is a prominent indie company, it makes sense that they became one of the companies in the rumor mill.

For now, all we really know for certain about Techland is that it’s hard at work on Dying Light 2. While we haven’t heard anything new about the game officially from Techland in quite some time, the studio has been teasing that we should start to hear more as the year progresses. In the interim, a new report has come about recently claims the game will be launching sooner than we think.

In reality, Dying Light 2 hasn’t even been given a release window just yet, although a launch in 2021 is expected. Whenever it does arrive, it will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

GTA Online Leak Reveals Next-Gen Feature on PS5 and Xbox Series X

Last year, Rockstar Games announced GTA 5 and GTA Online for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. At the time, the developer noted the pair were coming to next-gen consoles in an “expanded and enhanced” form. At the moment of publishing, it’s provided zero additional details on the ports and how they are being expanded and enhanced, but a new leak has relayed word of one feature players can expect. Unfortunately, it’s not a very exciting one, but it’s one players will be relieved to hear is in the works.

Word of the feature comes the way of a recent GTA Online update, and more specifically, the files of this update. With the update, Rockstar Games added new files for character transfers. The files themselves — “CHasCharacterToTransferDecisionPage” — don’t directly divulge anything too salient, but this seems to suggest Rockstar Games is working on a character transfer process for when the game comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X. In other words, it sounds like players won’t need to start from scratch with a brand new character, and will rather be able to carry over their progress to the new machines.

While this may seem like an obvious feature, especially since the game did this PS4 and Xbox One, it was far from a guarantee. It would be very easy for Rockstar Games to force players to start over, as this could have more financial benefits than letting players transfer their character. Of course, this would be a big PR blunder, but it could justify the decision whilst hiding behind the “expanded and enhanced” marketing slogan. That said, it looks like Rockstar Games will avoid this pitfall and allow character transfers.

For now, take everything here with a grain of salt given that everything here is the information of the leaked variety, and because it’s laced with some speculation.

At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not commented on this leak in any capacity. If this changes, we will be sure to update the story with whatever is provided, salient or not. In the meantime, for more coverage on GTA Online and all things gaming — including not just all the latest news, but all of the latest rumors and leaks — click here.
