Out now, Sidhu Moosewala’s most-awaited song SYL is all about Punjab rivers and Sikh prisoners : The Tribune India

Sidhu Moosewala’s first song posthumously, SYL has been released on his YouTube channel. The song is written, sung and composed by the late singer himself. It is produced by MXRCI and the video and artworks are done by Navkaran Brar.

The song revolves around various issues reeling Punjab. Among them, it highlights, Satluj Yamana Link canal issue, Sikh prisoner and the recent agitation against the farm laws.

There are black and white visuals that show Punjab rivers, some shots from the yesteryears of Punjab where people can be seen revolting against various laws, a mention of 1984 genocide. The makers have also included short clips of Shidhu Moosewala.

It was on the fateful night of May 28 that Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa. After his death, it was announced that all his unfinished work should be handed over to his father Balkaur Singh.

On June 8, in an emotional message during the bhog ceremony of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, his father Balkaur Singh said, “My son will remain connected to you through his songs. I will take inspiration from him.”

Navjot Sidhu skips wedding of CM Channi’s son : The Tribune India

Days after Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi shared the stage with PCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu at a protest march in Mohali in a show of unity, the cricketer-turned-politician skipped the wedding of CM’s son on Sunday.

Among those present at the function were Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat and party’s central observer Harish Chaudhary.

While the wedding ceremony was underway at Mohali’s Sacha Dhan Gurdwara,

Sidhu, minister Vijay Inder Singla and MLA Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal landed in Jammu to pay obeisance at Vaishno Devi shrine. Apparently trying to put to rest speculation on his absence from the wedding, Sidhu tweeted: “Darshan of the primordial mother during Navratras is synergising.” —TNS

Move to involve Navjot Sidhu in decision-making does not go down well with Majha brigade : The Tribune India

The decision to involve Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu in the decision-making process on the government has not gone down well with leaders of the Majha brigade, who are a part of the Channi-led government.

It is learnt that Home Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa, who is part of the Majha brigade involved in toppling Capt Amarinder Singh, is not comfortable over Sidhu interfering in Home Affairs.

Sources said it was more of a credit war as to who scores the brownie points in pushing party’s agenda on sacrilege and police firing cases.

In the coming days, it would be interesting to see as to how things unfold with CM Channi, Sidhu and Randhawa not being on the same page.

Also, as Amarinder has decided to say goodbye to the Congress, political compulsions seem to be in favour of Sidhu.  

“As Amarinder has announced to leave Congress, the party cannot afford to lose Sidhu. It would reflect on the Gandhi siblings. Moreover, Amarinder would try to pull down Sidhu and the Congress. This has forced the party leadership to accede to Sidhu’s contention,” said a senior party leader.
