The Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints are putting a bow on Week 9 in the NFL as they two clubs clash on “Monday Night Football.” Both of these clubs were on the winning end of their matchups last week and Baltimore is looking to further its lead in the AFC North. Meanwhile, the Saints, despite coming into this game at 3-5, they are still in the conversation in the division race and a win could go along way in climbing the standings.
Baltimore is trying to notch its sixth win, without star tight end Mark Andrews, who was downgraded to out after officially being listed as doubtful due to knee and shoulder injuries. Even without that go-to weapon for Lamar Jackson, the Ravens are still a 1.5-point road favorite over the Saints. Part of that could be due to Andy Dalton’s poor history in primetime. He is looking to snap a six-game losing streak in primetime. The last time he was able to notch a primetime win? 2018 against … the Ravens.
So, will Dalton finally get back into the win column or will the Ravens keep their division foes at arms length with a win on Monday night? We’re about to find out. Kanye West isn’t just starting fights on social media.
West was seen getting into an argument with a parent at his son Saint’s soccer game in Los Angeles over the weekend — and the whole thing was caught on camera.
In footage obtained by TMZ, the controversial rapper, 45 — who has faced public backlash and professional repercussions for his onslaught of anti-Semitic remarks — was spotted having a heated exchange with an unidentified individual on the sideline of the 6-year-old’s game.
West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian — with whom he also shares daughters North, 9, and Chicago, 4, and son Psalm, 3 — sat nearby in a lawn chair flanked by security, but did not visibly react as the disgraced designer stood about 30 feet away, waving his arms in seeming frustration.
Another woman — who appeared to be a family friend — then approached West and said something that prompted the “Heartless” musician to storm off the field.
A witness told TMZ that West took a few minutes to cool off and eventually returned to watch the rest of Saint’s game without any further drama.
The outlet notes that Kardashian, 42, and West did not interact during their son’s sporting event.

Weeks ago, West doubled down on his series of anti-Semitic threats during an interview with Piers Morgan.
The British broadcaster, 57, asked West if he regretted writing a specific tweet in which he vowed to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” He told Morgan that he is “absolutely not” sorry for the message.

Andy Dalton will start at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints this week against the Las Vegas Raiders, coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday, calling it “an offensive decision.”
Allen noted that Jameis Winston is healthy and “we’re going to continue with Andy.”
He said Dalton will remain in the starting role for the Saints (2-5) as long as he’s playing well.
Allen said there was “no need to upset the apple cart” regarding changing quarterbacks.
Dalton started the past four games for the Saints as Winston was recovering from lingering back and ankle injuries. He threw for 946 yards with 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in those four games, as New Orleans went 1-3.
The Arizona Cardinals defeated the New Orleans Saints 42-34 in a “Thursday Night Football” game that actually had some offense, which is a nice change of pace this season. The Cardinals moved to 3-4 and snapped an eight-game home losing streak, while the Saints dropped to 2-5.
The matchup was even for most of the first half, with a tie game with less than three minutes left in the second quarter. Then the scale drastically leaned toward the Cardinals, who scored three touchdowns in that time.
The visiting defense shook quarterback Andy Dalton and his offense with back-back interception returns that followed an offensive touchdown from Arizona.
Going into the half with 22 unanswered points and a 28-14 lead was more than a solid start for the Cardinals to build on in the second half.
The Saints came out of the half and scored a field goal and a score was definitely crucial there, but they needed to be putting up seven points opposed to three in order to catch up.
To make matters worse for the Saints, the Cardinals scored another touchdown in the third quarter, going up 35-17 with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray to Greg Dortch.
The Saints made it a game in the fourth with a 17-yard touchdown from Juwan Johnson.
It was a touchdown party tonight and the Cardinals put up another halfway through the fourth quarter thanks to the five-yard rush from Eno Benjamin.
If you think that’s where the touchdowns ended, think again. This high-scoring game saw another one from the Saints, making it a 42-31 game thanks to a pass from Dalton to Juwan Johnson.
A Saints field goal with less than a minute to go made it an eight-point game and was followed by a an unsuccessful onside kick try that sealed the win for Arizona.
Why the Cardinals won
To put it simply, they were the better team. They were more complete on all sides of the ball and picked out the opposing team’s weaknesses and capitalized on them.
The Cardinals offense had a new-found spark with DeAndre Hopkins returning from his suspension. Hopkins finished the night with 10 receptions for 103 yards.
The defense deserves a lot of credit for the win, intercepting Andy Dalton three times. All players got involved, with Antonio Hamilton, Isaiah Simmons and Marco Williams all having interceptions.
Why the Saints lost
Two interceptions for returns is never going to set you up for a win and the offense just could not recover from the Cardinals explosive end of the second quarter, where they scored three touchdowns.
The Saints offense lacks consistency and while things were not all bad, they needed to establish a steady rhythm and were unable to do so.
With Jameis Winston out, Andy Dalton took the reigns and when he was good he was good, throwing for 4 touchdowns and 361 yards yards, but when he was bad he was handing the other team touchdowns.
Turning point
The first pick six of the first half really made a statement, while also shifting the momentum toward the Cardinals. The 38-yard interception return from Marco Wilson gave the Cardinals their first lead of the game, a lead they would keep for the rest of the game.
Play of the game
Since I already mentioned one pick six as the turning point, it seems only fair to give the second pick six some attention as well.
With less than a minute left in the half, Isaiah Simmons intercepted Andy Dalton, marking the quarterback’s third pick of the half. Simmons ran it to the house for 56 yards, extending the lead to make it 28-14.
What’s next
The Saints will host the Las Vegas Raiders, who currently stand at 1-4 and are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, on Oct. 30.
The Cardinals will head to Minnesota to face the Vikings in Week 8. The Vikings are quietly off to a great start to their season and are in first place in their division as it stands heading into the weekend.

Through two quarters, the Arizona Cardinals are up 28-14 over the New Orleans Saints.
Saints quarterback Andy Dalton had a promising start, but goes into the half with three interceptions — two returned for touchdowns.
The Saints offense started off strong with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Dalton to Rashid Shaheed less than three minutes into the game and the Cardinals answered with a 50-yard field goal on their first drive to make it 7-3.
The Saints were marching with a 15-play drive totaling over nine minutes and it looked like they were going to put up another touchdown, but Dalton threw a pick in the end zone. This would be the start of a halftime of picks for the quarterback.
New Orleans’ offense has shown many different looks tonight and Taysom Hill, the sometimes tight end sometimes quarterback, is a major part of that. Dalton connected with Hill to extend the Saints lead and the extra point made it a 14-6 game.
Just when the Saints were starting to build the momentum, the Cardinals made a statement with back-to-back touchdowns, one on offense and one on defense.
Keaontay Ingram ran it in from 2 yards and a two-point conversion tied the game at 14. Then the Cardinals defense stepped up with a 38-yard pick 6 for Arizona’s first lead of the night.
It was deja vu all over again for Dalton who threw another pick 6, extending the Cardinals lead. After a missed extra point following the last touchdown, the Cardinals decided to go for two. Their attempt was successful making it 28-14 Cardinals.
The Cardinals go into halftime with 22 unanswered points.
METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints (1-3) are preparing to start backup quarterback Andy Dalton against the Seattle Seahawks (2-2) on Sunday, according to coach Dennis Allen.
Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is doubtful after missing all three practices for the second straight week. Winston did not play in the Saints 28-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London last week because of a back injury.
“I think he’s getting better. … but I think the most important thing is to get him healthy so we’re not riding that roller coaster each and every week,” Allen said.
Allen said wide receiver Michael Thomas, who missed last week’s game, will also sit this week. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry is questionable after missing Friday’s practice.
“Jarvis is listed as questionable but I actually feel pretty good about that,” Allen said.
Running back Alvin Kamara, who didn’t play last week, has already said that he feels good to go despite a lingering rib injury.
“I’m feeling great, healthy, ready to roll. So I’m going to be out there,” Kamara said earlier in the week.
Dalton completed 20 of 28 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown in the loss last week. He was sacked twice.
“I feel pretty good about where I’m at in this offense and just the understanding of everything,” Dalton said. “So, now for us, it’s just going out and executing and making sure everybody is on the same page.”
Injuries are at the forefront of the NFL conversation with Week 4 underway, mostly in light of Tua Tagovailoa’s brief hospitalization Thursday night after head and neck trauma forced him out of the Dolphins’ loss. Miami isn’t the only team with uncertainty under center going into the weekend, either. Some clubs are much healthier than others, and quite a few big names remain questionable to suit up on Sunday. Here, we’ve compiled all the final injury reports for Week 4 action.

The Saints will be shorthanded in at least some capacity, with the biggest absence coming under center, where Winston is recovering slower than expected from lingering issues. Former Bengals veteran Andy Dalton, last seen with the Cowboys and Bears, will get his first start of 2022. Rookie Chris Olave and reserve Tre’Quan Smith could see even more targets with Thomas out and Landry banged up, while Kamara is expected to suit up but could be on a pitch count alongside Mark Ingram.
The Vikings are far healthier, with star running back Dalvin Cook (shoulder) disappearing from the report after making a full return to practice. Starting defenders Eric Kendricks (toe) and Harrison Smith (concussion) are also good to go.
Allen did not practice on Friday and was ruled out for the third straight game. With Jalen Guyton out for the year, expect significantly more reps for DeAndre Carter this week. Justin Herbert (ribs) was a full participant and J.C. Jackson (ankle) will play for the Chargers Sunday.
Dameon Pierce (hip) was a full participant for the Texans Friday. He’ll play Sunday after not being given an injury designation.
Jones was a surprise absence from practice on Thursday after being added to the injury report, but he was limited Friday. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson revealed the he wants to make sure Jones is 100%, which is why the questionable designation was given. Griffin missed last week’s game with a hip injury and was limited in practice all week.
Former 49ers third-rounder Trey Sermon is set to debut as a No. 2/3 RB for the Eagles with Scott absent, behind Miles Sanders and Kenny Gainwell. With Maddox out after not participating in practice all week, expect Zech McPhearson to fill in as the slot cornerback.
Garrett, the Browns’ top edge rusher, is still recovering from injuries suffered in a car crash this week. With Clowney also iffy to play, the Browns’ pass rush will be shorthanded.
If Patterson can’t go for the Falcons, Arthur Smith’s squad is likely to turn to backups Tyler Allgeier and Avery Williams on the ground.
The Seahawks are relatively healthy heading into this one. Rookie Coby Bryant is set to start his third straight game in the slot with Coleman doubtful to play.
Jared Goff will be without some of his best weapons at home, with Jamaal Williams slated to handle RB1 duties and tight end T.J. Hockenson might also be in for additional looks in the passing game. If Reynolds can’t go, who plays wide receiver? Expect a heavy dose of Kalif Raymond and Quintez Cephus as the starting wideouts if the top three can’t go.
Bears at Giants (-3)

New York’s receiving corps will once again be without Toney, the 2021 first-rounder, who also sat out Week 3. Williams’ absence up front could also put more pressure on the Giants’ edge rushers, who failed to make much of an impact against the Cowboys last week.
The Bears will also be without a few of their top players; Khalil Herbert is set to start at running back with Montgomery sidelined, and Johnson’s absence leaves Chicago without its No. 1 cover man.
The Commanders are banged up on the offensive line, one that has given up the most sacks in the NFL this season. Leno has been dealing with this shoulder injury and has been limited Friday. If he can’t go, Cornelius Lucas will start at left tackle. Nick Martin will start at center with Schweitzer out. He’s Washington’s third starting center in four games. Right tackle Sam Cosmi (knee) will play.
Michael Gallup (knee) is back for the Cowboys and will will make his season debut after not being given an injury designation. Dak Prescott (ankle) isn’t throwing yet, so he’s out and Cooper Rush will start. Dalton Schultz has an uncertain status whether he’ll play after being limited Friday.
Hooker failed to clear the league’s concussion protocol in time, so he’ll miss Sunday’s game. The Titans are thin in the secondary with all their injuries, leading to McCreary in the slot and Kristian Fulton at outside cornerback. Treylon Burks will suit up at wide receiver after missing practice with an illness earlier in the week.
Up against Derrick Henry and Co., the Colts defense could be without a couple of key starters if Buckner doesn’t suit up; the star interior defender did not practice leading up to the game. Leonard, meanwhile, could make his 2022 debut at linebacker after missing the first three games while recovering from back surgery, though coach Frank Reich has made it clear he won’t be at 100 percent either way.
The biggest news here is the omission of Zach Wilson from the Jets’ report, as the QB is fully cleared from the knee surgery that kept him sidelined for the first three games. He’ll make his 2022 debut, replacing backup Joe Flacco. Quincy Williams didn’t practice all week, so he’s out for Sunday.
The Steelers got good news as Minkah Fitzpatrick cleared concussion protocols, so he’ll play Sunday. Pittsburgh is relatively healthy heading into this one.
After missing Week 3, Davis told reporters he will return to the field despite the questionable tag, serving as Josh Allen’s WR2 opposite Stefon Diggs. That doesn’t mean Buffalo will be unscathed going in, with Morse and Oliver both iffy in the trenches. Less than two weeks from his scary head injury against the Titans, Jackson also said he’s planning to play in the Bills secondary despite entering as a game-time decision.
If Stanley could play for the Ravens Sunday, it would be huge. The injuries at left tackle are mounting and Stanley did practice in full throughout the week. He’ll make a decision based on information he gathers from the coaching and medical staff. Fourth-round rookie Daniel Faalele would start at left tackle if Stanley and Mekari can’t go.
The Cardinals, still without DeAndre Hopkins due to suspension, could be calling upon the bottom of their receiver depth chart in this one. With Green out and both Brown and Moore banged up, reserve Greg Dortch could see another high volume of targets from Kyler Murray, along with tight end Zach Ertz. Running back James Conner (knee) is good to go as well.
Baker Mayfield will have a banged-up supporting cast, at best, with McCaffrey “hopeful” to play despite practicing in limited fashion just once this week. Shenault, who emerged in Week 3, is a game-time decision.
Jones cleared the concussion protocol, so he’s eligible to play Sunday. If Jones sits, Mike Purcell will start at nose tackle. Meinerz had a setback in practice, which ruled him out for Sunday. The Broncos also play Thursday night, so it may have been wise to give him a few extra days.
No Renfrow again for the Raiders, so Mack Hollins is expected to take over a sthe No. 2 wide receiver for another week. Ya-Sin was limited in practice and his status is expected to be determined after Saturday’s walkthrough. Denzel Perryman was limited with an ankle injury all week, but he’ll play.
Despite Jones’ presence at practice Friday, the second-year QB has been ruled out and veteran backup Brian Hoyer will start. Jones’ high-ankle sprain has been classified as “severe” in multiple reports, and the second-year starter did not show much mobility during his limited return to the field. As for the questionable players, Bill Belichick listed them all as limited in practice all week.
David Bakhtiari (knee) and A.J. Dillon (knee) both were not given an injury designation. They’ll play for the Packers Sunday. Ditto for Elgton Jenkins (knee) and Allen Lazard (ankle).
The Chiefs ruled Butker out again on Saturday. Valdes-Scantling was limited in Friday’s practice, but so was Mecole Hardman who was not given an injury designation. Skyy Moore could be in line for increased snaps this week.
For the Buccaneers, Tom Brady could be down plenty of his top targets again. Head coach Todd Bowles said Godwin will be a game-time decision on Sunday, and he will make sure his receiving corps is healthy and 100% before having them all (Godwin, Evans, and Gage) out there. With Perriman doubtful, the Buccaneers’ top-three receivers could be Evans, Cole Beasley, and Scotty Miller. Jones is expected to be on a pitch count if he’s cleared to play.

San Francisco’s offensive line takes a huge hit for the next few weeks with Williams on the sideline. It’s already a much thinner unit than it has been over the last several seasons, and now it loses its anchor. The group up front has powered much of San Francisco’s regular-season success against the Rams, so it’ll be interesting to see how Kyle Shanahan and Co. deal without Williams. Armstead and/or Kinlaw not being able to suit up would be impactful as well, given that the Rams’ biggest weakness is often to interior pressure against Matthew Stafford, and they will be without two starters in Allen and Edwards. Los Angeles’ secondary also takes a hit with both long and Durant out, which could affect how Raheem Morris’ defense deals with Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Finally got a good week going on the overall picks in Week 3, so let’s keep it rolling into Week 4, a very tough layout for picking NFL games. Virtually all of the spreads are under a touchdown, with only the Pack/Pats line climbing into double digits.
The Dolphins’ loss Thursday means there’s only one remaining undefeated team — Philly — and we continue to see an outrageous amount of parity across the entire league.
It only makes picking a slate of games that much tougher, but let’s give it a try anyway.
Early morning London football! The thing you never missed and yet somehow didn’t realize you wanted. The first international game is always so jarring — it’s like when there’s a random 11 a.m. ET college football game and you’re completely thrown for a loop. This line is extremely stinky. Minnesota is less than a three-point favorite against a Saints team that needed a miracle Week 1 rally against the Falcons to avoid 0-3 with a bad loss against Tampa Bay and a VERY bad loss against the Panthers. This feels like a situation where Andy Dalton starts and we get Spiderman Meme’d to death with him battling Kirk Cousins in not-quite-prime time. Weird feeling the Saints steal something here even though the Vikings are the better overall team.

If this game doesn’t turn into a crazy shootout with one of Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen surging to the forefront of the MVP race, it will be really disappointing. The Bills and Ravens have defensive issues and are two of the most explosive teams in football. Both were roundly criticized for accuracy and passing skills coming into the 2018 draft and both have emerged as clear dominant forces. Rashod Batemen and Devin Duvernay are answering questions about Baltimore’s receiving corps. The Bills have some lethal quick-score options as well. It’s probably square but the over feels like a lock here.

Are the Falcons better than we thought? This will be an interesting test game against a 2-1 Browns team lingering quite large with Deshaun Watson coming back. The Browns are second in rush DVOA on offense and the Falcons are a bottom five team in rush defense by DVOA (worth noting: usually it’s best to wait four weeks for adjusted stats on that based on Football Outsiders reevaluating preconceived biases). Cleveland’s defense has been lacking and it’s hard to imagine Myles Garrett is playing this Sunday; it’s great news he’s doing well as he is. Despite the rushing matchup, Atlanta is going to hang in this game and maybe find a way to steal it.

Looking at this 39.5 total, it’s hard to tell whether or not it’s simply these two offenses or the possibility of hurricane weather coming in that direction. My thinking is the former. The Bears are an improbable 2-1 … but so are the Giants! I’ve heard multiple people suggest (shoutout my new buddies from RGA) Daniel Jones played his best game as a pro against the Cowboys on Monday night. He was pressured 26 times on 36 dropbacks, just an insane number. Roquan Smith is on an absolute bender right now with 27 (!) tackles in his last two weeks. He’s the difference maker here, as is the Bears ground game.

Two of my three favorite teams from 2022 squaring off in a difficult game to pick. The Jaguars are the only team in the entire NFL with a top-five offense and defense by DVOA. Doug Pederson, a.k.a. “NUM” a.k.a. (Not Urban Meyer) has some big time Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco 2011 vibes. But I’m not sure this week is the max-out spot for the Jags, even in a Doug Pederson Revenge Game. The Eagles are simply just very good, and their defense can lock people down late when it’s clicking.

Justin Herbert has to remain a question mark, almost as big a question mark as keeping Justin Herbert in the game when the Chargers were up not only three but four scores. Brandon Staley is a good coach, but it feels like he abandoned his principles this season and maybe it has him a little shook? There’s zero reason Herbert should have played as much as he did. The Texans are 0-2-1 but have been in every game they’ve played. I think they are live for an upset here courtesy of a big game from Damion Pierce.

The Steelers are not good on offense, but the Jets are really bad on offense. The under here is probably a pretty good look even if the total is sub 40. There’s a chance this becomes the Kenny Pickett game, although Mike Tomlin’s seemed pretty set on continuing to roll with Mitchell Trubisky as his quarterback. I’m taking the Steelers but by no means am I confident with it.

This a huge AFC South game — the winner ends up likely getting a little bit of a leg up on the Jaguars, assuming the Eagles take care of business. Indy has the better overall roster/team, I think. The Titans can get a ton of interior pressure with Jeffrey Simmons and that should disrupt Matt Ryan enough to keep this division battle close.

Dallas is a remarkable 2-1 despite rolling out Cooper Rush at QB the last few weeks. Washington got stomped by the Eagles last week, but I’m not sure they’re as bad as they looked against Philly. The Eagles might simply be the best team in football. The Cowboys defense could be a big problem pressure-wise here, but I think Washington can keep it close enough with Carson Wentz throwing the ball downfield in the second half. It’s also fair to wonder if we might see some adjustment from defenses against Rush and perhaps a correction.

Carolina Panthers

Nasty little plot twist for the Cardinals who find themselves at 1-2 and an underdog on the road against a Panthers team no one thinks is particularly great. Carolina could be 2-1 pretty easily however, and the defense is playing at a pretty high level. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense is operating in an unsustainable fashion and against a Panthers defense with enough speed to contain and chase down Kyler Murray, this is a spot for Matt Rhule to flip some of the FCF (first coach fired) pressure onto Kliff Kingsbury, whose offseason contract extension looms awkwardly at the moment.

The Raiders are an incredibly desperate team — the only 0-3 team in the NFL — getting ready to host the … first place Denver Broncos. Russell Wilson’s struggled badly on deep passes and he and Nathaniel Hackett simply can’t get on the same page. Hackett’s in-game decision making has obviously lacked a certain competence. For that reason give me the Raiders to find a way to win this game, even though it’s difficult to be confident in their defense. Davante Adams needs a signature performance here.

Mac Jones is “day to day” according to Bill Belichick, who had some interesting media sessions this week. There are rumors about him wanting to force his way out on the field for this game, but I’m not sure it matters when looking at the handicap here. Aaron Rodgers on a bigger stage (key CBS game on Sunday afternoon) against Belichick with the Packers offense starting to get rolling and the defense playing outstanding football. The Patriots simply aren’t very good right now and Brian Hoyer vs. an injured Mac won’t change that much.
The Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl Revenge Game! The Chiefs are favored here but it could simply be a result of expectation for the game being moved to a neutral site. That’s not the case, with Tampa clear of Hurricane Ian much sooner than expected. Mike Evans is back, Tom Brady is in prime time at home and the Bucs defense should still be able to give Mahomes some fits.
The Pick: Buccaneers 28, Chiefs 27 Bets: Buccaneers
Really wanted to make the Rams a best bet this week, but Kyle Shanahan’s history of dominating L.A. just has me too concerned. The Rams got their offense going against Arizona to the tune of 7.4 yards per play last week. San Francisco offers a much tougher defensive test. Unfortunately so do the Rams and Jimmy Garoppolo hasn’t looked great since taking over for Trey Lance. Making matters worse is Trent Williams absence. I’ll buck trends and take the Rams to steal this one on the road in prime time.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game in London against the Minnesota Vikings and wide receiver Michael Thomas has been ruled out, coach Dennis Allen told reporters Friday.
Neither Winston (back/ankle) nor Thomas (foot) has practiced over the past three days due to their injuries.
Andy Dalton would get the start at quarterback for the Saints if Winston, who is considered doubtful, is inactive for Sunday’s game. The Saints signed Dalton to a one-year contract this offseason after playing four quarterbacks in 2021 due to injuries and COVID-19.
“Our plan right now is to have Andy ready to go,” Allen said. “We’ll see how things go overnight, but Andy will be ready to go if that’s the direction that we go.”
Dalton has experience playing in London. He played in two games there as a Cincinnati Bengals starter, including a 27-27 tie in 2016 against Washington and current Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.

While digital and physical sales of the Saints Row reboot hit a strong second place in both American and European markets, the open-world crime sim was denied first place by Madden NFL 23 and Grand Theft Auto V, respectively. While second place isn’t bad, the Saints Row reboot has actually been a bit of a flop, at least as far as Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors is concerned.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, 7.7 million games sold in tracked European territories during the month of August, and 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V lead the pack. Saints Row came in at second, sandwiched between Rockstar’s god-tier mega hit and FIFA 22. And in the States, Video Game Chronicle has the NPD stats, showing the crime reboot losing out to Madden NFL 23. Quite a duo: Madden NFL 23 had disastrous reviews, and GTA V came out (exhales) nine years ago.
To be fair, Saints Row didn’t launch until August 23, while GTA V was of course available during the entire month. (Madden came out on August 19.) But Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors seems pretty down on its performance, too. Axios’ Stephen Totilo reports that during an investor call today, Wingefors described the crime-sim reboot as “one of the harder ones” for the company to see a return on. He’s hoping to see a “greater reception” on the game and that, while it certainly won over some players, many others haven’t been convinced.
It wasn’t all gloom and doom, however. Wingefors stressed that the company needs to “wait until the quarterly report in November to have more details.” Responding to inquiries about the future of the franchise, Wingefors highlighted his trust in those working on the game and said that any potential decisions are uncertain for now.

2022’s Saints Row, a reboot of the long-running open-world crime series, has been fighting an uphill battle since its somewhat polarizing reveal last year. Though the series has always played second fiddle to the GTA titan, its reappearance hasn’t been terribly well received by critics and fans alike, though Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen found it a fun-enough time.
It’s one thing to contemplate what a modern Saints Row would need to look like and achieve in order to be as popular with gamers as it once was; it’s another to consider how anything at this point could unseat something that remains as remarkably popular as Grand Theft Auto V. Aside, that is, from its recently-leaked-to-all-hellsequel.
