Title, Setting, and More Reportedly Revealed

The next entry in the Call of Duty franchise will reportedly take place during World War II, and the game is tentatively titled “WWII: Vanguard.” According to sources for Modern Warzone, the game will also have an impact on Call of Duty: Warzone, and will see weapons and assets shared with the title in a manner similar to Black Ops Cold War. Last month, Modern Warzone reported that Call of Duty 2021 is in development from Sledgehammer Games, which would be fitting, as the developer previously worked on Call of Duty: WWII. Clearly, the team has a bit of experience with the setting!

Modern Warzone seems confident in its sourcing, but the piece reporting these details also mentions that previous rumors have pointed to a 1950s setting for the next Call of Duty. Since World War II ended in 1945, that wouldn’t make much sense! Modern Warzone speculates that WWII: Vanguard could be set in an alternate timeline where the war dragged out longer. In this writer’s opinion, it’s also possible Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard could be a game that specifically deals with events directly following the war, such as rogue Axis forces. Unfortunately, it’s all just conjecture, at this time!

Interestingly enough, WWII: Vanguard is not the only new Call of Duty game that could be in development. A prominent Call of Duty leaker has also hinted that a Call of Duty: Zombies standalone game might be in the works from Activision. Further details are quite slim at this time, including which team might be developing the game. If it does prove correct, Call of Duty fans just might have a lot more content to enjoy in the future!

For now, readers are advised to take these reports with a grain of salt until Activision makes some kind of official announcement. Sources sometimes get information incorrect, and plans can often change during development. Black Ops Cold War just released a few short months ago, so it will likely be a bit longer before the publisher reveals anything concrete about its next Call of Duty game. Hopefully more information will come sooner, rather than later!

Would you be happy to see Sledgehammer Games develop the next Call of Duty? Do you think the next entry in the series will be set during World War II? Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp to talk about all things gaming!

New Halo Infinite Details Have Xbox Fans Divided

A metric ton of Halo Infinite details have been revealed, some of which have Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players excited, but some of which have players looking forward to the new Halo game less excited. As for the details themselves — which come the way of a new Q&A with 343 Industries developers — they range from gameplay to story, and some of them are brand new while others are updates on pre-existing information.

One of the new details is that there will be a day and night cycle in the game, as well as a weather system that includes things like windstorms, but not rainstorms or snowstorms, though 343 Industries teases that this could come in the future. Tying into this, what enemies you will come across and how they behave will change depending on the time of day.

Complimenting this will be wildlife, though right now there’s no hostile wildlife. And of course, wildlife will vary across the different biomes. According to 343 Industries, the “Pacific Northwest” is the primary biome, but sub-biomes will add different environments like swamps and wartorn areas.

That said, exploration of these areas will be partly limited because it isn’t a true open-world game. However, missions allow for multiple approaches due to the open-world-like design. And to this end, you can stray from the path and explore different side content and objectives. The main story is the main story and needs to be completed in order, but there’s freedom between these missions.

Other details include word of no dual-wielding, no playable Elites, audio logs, the ability to knock things off Zeta Halo, random encounters, bases/outposts, and dynamic cutscenes that react and change depending on the time of day, weather, and what weapons you’re holding.

Lastly, players can only hold one piece of equipment in Multiplayer. Further, once you use it, it’s gone. However, there are plans to allows players to modify this via custom games.

By and large, these are all the salient details shared. However, if you want more nitty-gritty details, click here. That said, and as noted, players are divided about these details, at least over on Reddit. For example, one of the top comments is about being excited over being to knock things off Zeta Halo. However, another top comment expressed disappointment about the lack of biomes and weather variants. And of course, while plenty of the details above are exciting, many of the takeaways so far have been the lack of dual-wielding and playable Elites.

Halo Infinite is set to release worldwide sometime later this year via the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

[VCT NA Masters] SEN TenZ: “The team is making the most of a bad situation.”

Source: Cloud9

When Sentinels announced that Jay “sinatraa” Won was being suspended just days before the VALORANT Champions Tour NA Masters tournament, fans feared the worst for the squad. But then the organization revealed Tyson “TenZ” Ngo would be stepping up a day before their first match.

VALORANT fans were already excited, seeing as TenZ has been a popular VALORANT streamer for a while now, breaking all kinds of North American records in Riot’s tactical shooter. And now that Sentinels took down Luminosity 2-0 without much time for scrimming, it seems there’s only major improvements ahead for the talented squad.

TenZ spoke with InvenGlobal about competing in a major tournament with little practice, what it took to beat Luminosity, and how long he thinks he’ll be on the roster going forward.

How did it feel to be signed to the Sentinels’ main roster so suddenly before a major tournament?

The Sentinels reached out three days ago. We didn’t know for sure if I was allowed to play yet. Sentinels had to get the okay from C9 to loan me over. We basically got it finalized just like yesterday.

I did want to play. Playing pro is really fun for me. If I couldn’t play, it wouldn’t have been the end of the world. I could have just watched the tournament and kind of just chilled but it was an opportunity I didn’t want to let pass.

How long did you know you were going to be playing with Sentinels in VCT? Did you have time to practice?

No, we didn’t practice at all.

Yeah ShahZam basically said you guys practiced for a few hours this morning and that’s it!

We got on at check-in time. An hour before the game, went into a server and they were explaining stuff to me. But I was pretty confident. I know the rest of the squad is good. For me, personally, I can kind of slot in really easily. I can AWP, rifle, lerk — everything outside of calling. I see myself as a really easy piece to fit into a team.

You guys seemed to usually be on the same page throughout the match. How was the team’s communication and synergy?

They play really loose. The comms bounce back and forth really smoothly. No issues with communication. It’s pretty straightforward.

What’s something you feel you have brought to the roster that helped you guys succeed?

My head-clicking ability.

Sentinels has been eliminated by Luminosity in the past. What was the team’s gameplan going into this match?

I know Shahz watched a bunch of demos of teams prior to the match. He was explaining to us their tendencies and what they do. We were able to pick up on their patterns. For example, they take a lot of peeks. What I was doing was, 1v1 whoever was trying to challenge or find an angle.

You guys were in the lead on the second map but Luminosity slowly caught up. What caused you guys to start losing steam?

Split is a pretty hard map. It’s more fundamentally reliant and you can pull fakes really easily. It was hard to know what they were doing fully unless we pushed through and gained info. But for the most part, they were popping randomly or throwing one fake and heading back to the site. Since we had just slotted me in, we didn’t have the scrims to deal with that.

Icebox is all about aggressive plays. Do you feel that played to Sentinels playstyle?

Yes, definitely. Icebox feels like a giant aim map. We can play aggressively and get away with it.

How did it feel to get a win so soon after joining Sentinels?

It feels good. I don’t know what else to say because I enjoy winning a lot. I just had a lot of fun.

You started playing VALORANT early and broke a lot of NA records early on. What made you decide to switch from CSGO so soon?

For me, I saw that Valve wasn’t listening to the community. They don’t listen to pros. It’s kind of like a brick wall. I definitely didn’t see the scene — especially with everything going online — as something that was sustainable. When VALORANT first came out, everyone was starting off at the same level and I just started grinding at the start.

You were streaming VALORANT for a while. Do you prefer playing competitively?

I do like playing pro a lot but I also like streaming as well. I don’t really know which one I’d pick over the other. Maybe for now, I would say I enjoy playing pro more. But my stream makes me enjoy the game a lot because I can just kind of chill.

Without speculating about the results of any recent investigations, do you expect to stick around with Sentinels for the long haul? Or is this a temporary substitution arrangement?

I believe this is a temporary arrangement just for Masters.

Did the situation with sinatraa seem to distract the team at all? How did the team seem after sinatraa was suspended?

They were definitely making the most out of a bad situation. Nobody was really down about what happened. We just have to play our game and just do the best we possibly can.

Guilty Gear Strive hit with a two-month delay

Post-beta blues

If you took part in last month’s Guilty Gear Strive beta, you probably already know it wasn’t the smoothest experience. Not all betas are, but the feedback from players on this one was enough to convince Arc System Works it needs to spend more time polishing up the game.

The developer revealed on Twitter Wednesday night that it is delaying the highly anticipated fighter from April 9 to June 11. As you can see in the message below, Arc System Works will use the extra development time to work on the game’s online lobbies and server stability.

Pending any further delays, Guilty Gear Strive will launch this summer for PS4, PS5, and PC.

Xbox Live Gold’s New Free Games Met With Backlash

Some of Xbox Live Gold’s free games for March 2021 are now available, and subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S aren’t impressed, in fact, many are now actively protesting the service. This month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting a couple of great games, including Final Fantasy 7 Remake, one of 2020’s best games and one of the last generation’s best RPGs. And this makes March’s Games With Gold lineup an even harder pill to swallow for many subscribers.

As of today, subscribers can download Warface: Breakout and Metal Slug 3, and can look forward to downloading Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse and Port Royale 3 later in the month. The latter two games are an Xbox One and an Xbox 360 game, and neither are relevant or very exciting, especially in 2021. Of course, Metal Slug 3 is a decent game in a classic series, but it’s an Xbox 360 game. And as you may know, Warface is popular, but it’s also free-to-play.

It’s not an impressive lineup, and Microsoft is hearing about it. Not only did subscribers protest the lineup when it was announced, but the protesting has continued as the games start to drop. So far, the replies to the tweet from Microsoft’s Larry Hryb relaying word that some of the lineup is now available are almost all negative, which isn’t normal.

Popular Nintendo 3DS Series Reportedly Being Revived on Switch and PS4

A popular Nintendo 3DS series is reportedly being revived on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, PS4, and PC. Like it often does, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has leaked a bunch of games, including a pair of ports for a pair of great Nintendo 3DS games. According to the rating board out of Taiwan, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles — consisting of The Great Ace Attorney and The Great Ace Attorney 2 — are coming to the aforementioned platforms. And right now, these are the only platforms that have been rated. There’s no mention of PS5 or any Xbox console.

Unfortunately, this is all the rating board reveals. There’s no mention of a release date, however, typically, though not always, when a game is rated for release, it’s close to release, or at least this is the case when the ESRB or PEGI. Taiwan is known to rate games way ahead of not just their release, but their announcement.

In short, while it’s possible that these ratings mean Capcom will have an official announcement soon, this assumption is far from a slam dunk. In fact, because nothing here is official and from the mouth of Capcom PR, it’s wise to take it all with a grain of salt. That said, if any of this sounds familiar, it’s because last year’s massive Capcom leak — which is slowly but surely coming true — included word of these two ports.

At the moment of publishing, Capcom has not commented on any of this, and it’s unlikely it will. Like many in the industry, Capcom maintains a fairly strict “no comment” policy when it comes to leaks, especially of the rating board variety. If it does provide a comment, we will be sure to update the story accordingly.

Dying Light 2 Developer Denies Acquisition Rumors

Rumors of Dying Light 2 developer Techland potentially being the target of an upcoming acquisition have been greatly exaggerated, it seems. According to the studio’s community manager, Techland is still very much an independent company and hasn’t been acquired by any other publisher at this moment.

Traction with these rumors started yesterday when the host of a popular Xbox podcast shared that they had heard Microsoft was potentially looking into picking up Techalnd and making the developer part of its Xbox Game Studios stable. This then prompted a response from Techland’s aforementioned community manager after mentions of the rumor started making it into their direct messages on Twitter. “There was the same rumour floating around the internet one year ago and the situation didn’t change,” said Uncy, the studio community manager. “Techland is an independent studio and it was not acquired by another publisher.”

The news about Techland potentially being acquired comes at a time where acquisition rumors have been circling for months. Just a few weeks ago, a major new report came about that said multiple publishers such as Xbox, PlayStation, Electronic Arts, and Amazon have all been looking to snatch up various independent studios recently. Considering how Techland is a prominent indie company, it makes sense that they became one of the companies in the rumor mill.

For now, all we really know for certain about Techland is that it’s hard at work on Dying Light 2. While we haven’t heard anything new about the game officially from Techland in quite some time, the studio has been teasing that we should start to hear more as the year progresses. In the interim, a new report has come about recently claims the game will be launching sooner than we think.

In reality, Dying Light 2 hasn’t even been given a release window just yet, although a launch in 2021 is expected. Whenever it does arrive, it will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Fortnite Offering Refunds on New Skin

Earlier this week, Epic Games released a pair of new Terminator skins for Fortnite, and the publisher is now offering refunds to those that purchased the T-800. The official Fortnite website indicated that the skin was accompanied by a built-in Cyberdyne Salute emote. That is not the case, which may have prompted some complaints from players. Epic’s official Fortnite Status Twitter account has reported that players will be able to apply for one using the in-game flow. A specific date that players can start to get that refund has not been announced, but it will be available sometime next week.

The Tweet from Epic Games can be found embedded below.

The Cyberdyne Salute emote is meant to evoke the T-800’s final moments in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, where the character took a molten steel bath to ensure its own destruction and protect the future. The original trailer released by Epic Games announcing the content featured an homage to that moment, but this time around, T-800 is stopped by Jonesy, who pulls it into the world of Fortnite to enlist its help.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 has a theme focused on the greatest hunters of the multiverse. T-800 and Sarah Connor are the latest such “hunters” added this season, following Din Djarin (The Mandalorian), Kratos (God of War), Master Chief (Halo), and Predator. There have been a number of rumors regarding future hunters, including Tom Raider star Lara Croft. Epic Games has been steadily adding new skins since the season kicked off last month, so fans likely won’t have to wait much longer to see which character will make the cut next!

Fortnite is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game right here.

Did you download the T-800 skin in Fortnite? Were you under the impression that the emote was included with the skin? Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp to talk about all things gaming!
