MLB The Show 21 Cover Leak Seemingly Confirms Xbox Version

The cover has allegedly leaked for MLB The Show 21, but this time for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox One, seemingly confirming that the Sony-exclusive baseball game will make its way to other platforms in 2021.
Known leaker ANerdyDad on Instagram shared the covers, which both feature San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr., and the Xbox version even comes complete with the PlayStation Studios logo, as well.

Another potential leak has made its way to Reddit, showing that there may also be a Jackie Robinson special edition version of MLB The Show 21, which is said to be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, there is no mention of PC or Nintendo Switch.

The Jackie Robinson Edition leak also reveals that the game is planned to be released on April 20, 2021, with an Early Access Weekend beginning on April 16.

Following these leaks, it has been announced that the official MLB The Show 2021 cover reveal will take place tomorrow, February 1, on Hot Ones. So, it appears we won’t have to wait long to learn the truth.

In 2019, it was confirmed that MLB The Show would be making its way to other platforms as early as 2021, and it appears this just may be the year these great games will be playable by many more people.

GTA Online Leak Reveals Next-Gen Feature on PS5 and Xbox Series X

Last year, Rockstar Games announced GTA 5 and GTA Online for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. At the time, the developer noted the pair were coming to next-gen consoles in an “expanded and enhanced” form. At the moment of publishing, it’s provided zero additional details on the ports and how they are being expanded and enhanced, but a new leak has relayed word of one feature players can expect. Unfortunately, it’s not a very exciting one, but it’s one players will be relieved to hear is in the works.

Word of the feature comes the way of a recent GTA Online update, and more specifically, the files of this update. With the update, Rockstar Games added new files for character transfers. The files themselves — “CHasCharacterToTransferDecisionPage” — don’t directly divulge anything too salient, but this seems to suggest Rockstar Games is working on a character transfer process for when the game comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X. In other words, it sounds like players won’t need to start from scratch with a brand new character, and will rather be able to carry over their progress to the new machines.

While this may seem like an obvious feature, especially since the game did this PS4 and Xbox One, it was far from a guarantee. It would be very easy for Rockstar Games to force players to start over, as this could have more financial benefits than letting players transfer their character. Of course, this would be a big PR blunder, but it could justify the decision whilst hiding behind the “expanded and enhanced” marketing slogan. That said, it looks like Rockstar Games will avoid this pitfall and allow character transfers.

For now, take everything here with a grain of salt given that everything here is the information of the leaked variety, and because it’s laced with some speculation.

At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not commented on this leak in any capacity. If this changes, we will be sure to update the story with whatever is provided, salient or not. New PlayStation Leak Reveals Major Last-Gen Game Is Getting Re-Released on PS5

A new PlayStation leak has revealed that a major PS4 game is getting re-released on the PS5. When the PS4 released, it felt like every PS3 game and their brother was remastered and re-released on the PS4. And if this didn’t happen, the game was remade for the PS4. However, a big reason this happened is because the PS4 wasn’t backwards compatible with the PS3. On PS5 this isn’t an issue because it plays virtually every PS4 game. However, this won’t stop every game from the re-release route.

Right now, one of the PS4’s most popular games, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, is playable on PS5, but only via backward compatibility. In other words, a proper PS5 version of the game doesn’t exist, but it looks like that’s about to change.

Over on Twitter, Gematsu reveals that retailer 365games recently listed Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Deluxe Edition for the PS5, seemingly leaking the announcement before Ubisoft could make it. Right now, there’s no listing for an Xbox Series X version, but it’s safe to assume a similar re-release is in the works for Microsoft’s new console.

It’s also safe to assume the PS5 (and Xbox Series X) version will come with a variety of visual and performance upgrades, but for now, it remains to be seen just how many resources Ubisoft will pour into the ports. And of course, it’s worth remembering that for now, nothing here is official. The listing could be an error or it could the retailer looking for traffic. And it could also be a placeholder. However, you know what else it could be? A genuine leak. If this is true, expect an announcement soon.

At the moment of publishing, Ubisoft has not commented on this leak in any capacity, and it’s unlikely this will change, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story with whatever the French games maker says. In the meantime, for more coverage on the Rainbow Six Siege and all things gaming — including all of the latest news, rumors, leaks, reviews, previews, guides, deals, and more — click here or check out the relevant links listed below:

Six victims identified after deadly nitrogen leak at Georgia food processing plant

Authorities on Friday released the names of the six people who were killed after liquid nitrogen leaked at a Georgia food processing plant Thursday.

The dead, all employees of Foundation Food Group in Gainesville, were identified as Jose DeJesus Elias-Cabrera, 45; Corey Alan Murphy, 35; Nelly Perez-Rafael, 28; Saulo Suarez-Bernal, 41; Victor Vellez, 38; and Edgar Vera-Garcia, 28, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Four of the victims lived in Gainesville, while Murphy and Suarez-Bernal were from the nearby towns of Clermont and Dawsonville, respectively. Perez-Rafael was the only woman among the victims.

There was no immediate cause of death listed for the six, pending autopsies performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the sheriff said.

The cause of Thursday’s deadly workplace incident, about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta, is being investigated by the sheriff’s office, the fire department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, officials said.

Five of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The sixth victim, one of 12 people rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, died at the hospital.

Four people were still there by midday Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Three were in critical condition and one was listed as fair, according to the official.

While Foundation Food Group Vice President Nicholas Ancrum declined to discuss the cause of the accident in detail on Thursday, he said “preliminary indications are that a nitrogen line ruptured inside the facility.”

Poultry plants use refrigeration systems that often include liquid nitrogen, which vaporizes into an odorless gas capable of displacing oxygen when leaked.

Since 2017, OSHA has inspected or investigated complaints involving the Gainesville plant, which has been operated by Foundation Food Group and Prime Pak Foods Inc., records showed.

  • OSHA opened a Dec. 10, 2020, safety probe that remains active and available records don’t detail the issues at hand.
  • A May 26 referral, involving a potential amputation threat, was closed on Nov. 20 with no apparent penalties, records showed.
  • Prime Pak agreed to pay $3,750 on Oct. 17, 2019, for failure to provide proper eye and face protection to workers.
  • The company in 2018 agreed to settle with OSHA for $12,548 over a July 6, 2017, incident in which an employee lost a pinky and ring fingers when he “removed the guard from the cuber to clear a jam and had his left hand pulled into it,” according to OSHA records.
  • Prime Pak was originally fined $25,097 but ultimately didn’t have to pay OSHA for an April 6, 2017, incident when an employee lost at least three fingers in a meat-mixer accident, records showed.

A Foundation Food Group spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment on Friday.

Newly elected U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., who courted Latino voters in his upset victory earlier this month, pledged to “help the workers, their families, and the Gainesville community heal.”

“My prayers and sympathies are with the families of those who lost loved ones and the people who were harmed today in this awful incident,” he said in a statement Thursday night.

Sony Xperia 1 III leak shows periscope zoom

An early look at Sony’s next flagship phone shows it might be getting a more powerful zoom lens, thanks to some leaked renders posted by OnLeaks. The Xperia 1 III’s rear camera bump appears similar to its predecessor’s at first glance. But if you look closely at the bottom camera, it features a squared-off housing consistent with periscope designs. Previous Xperia phones have offered standard telephoto lenses with 2x or 3x optical zoom; a periscope design would allow for 5x or more of optical reach without sacrificing image quality.

OnLeaks also reports that the Xperia 1 III will include 5G, practically a requirement for any flagship phone in 2021. Unlike the Xperia 1 II, it seems likely that Sony will offer 5G support for 1 III devices sold in the US, given that the creator-focused Xperia Pro will offer it.

On the whole, it looks like the Xperia 1 III will stick with Sony’s minimalist approach. The 6.5-inch display’s bezels are very thin, and Sony is sticking with the tall 21:9 aspect ratio. The 1 III should also retain the 3.5mm headphone jack — a rarity among flagships — as well as a microSDXC card slot.

Despite being a major manufacturer of imaging hardware, Sony’s phones have lagged behind other flagships in the camera department with better software. When we reviewed the Xperia 1 II, we saw an opportunity for Sony to lean into the dedicated camera-like experience that the phone can offer, rather than trying to play catch-up on computational photography. Strengthening its hardware offerings with a good-quality zoom is a solid step in that direction.

Liquid nitrogen leak at Georgia poultry plant kills 6

GAINESVILLE, Ga, (AP) — A liquid nitrogen leak at a northeast Georgia poultry plant killed six people Thursday, with multiple others taken to the hospital, officials said.

At least three of those injured at the Prime Pak Foods plant in Gainesville were reported in critical condition.

Poultry plants rely on refrigeration systems that can include liquid nitrogen. Firefighters, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the state fire marshal were investigating the cause of the leak.

“It was a leak of unknown cause that has occurred in the system here,” Hall County Fire Department Division Chief Zach Brackett said. “We still have a lot of information we’re trying to gather from the scene.”

A crowd of workers was gathered outside the plant when firefighters responded to the leak Thursday morning.

“Once the units arrived, they found a large contingent of employees that had evacuated, along with multiple victims that were in that crowd that were also experiencing medical emergencies around the facility,” Brackett told reporters in a televised news briefing.

Beth Downs, a spokesperson for Northeast Georgia Health System, said five people died at the plant and one person died in the emergency room.

Nine other injured patients were at the hospital — three in critical condition, health system spokesman Sean Couch. Five were being treated in the emergency room and were in fair condition. One was still on the way to the emergency room when Couch spoke.

At least four firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital with what Brackett described as “respiratory complaints.”

Brackett said about 130 workers were taken by bus to a nearby church where they were examined for injuries. Couch said one person was taken to the hospital from there.

Hall County school officials said students were kept safe inside a nearby elementary school during the emergency but the leak was contained and not airborne. The shelter in place order was lifted Thursday afternoon. About 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) of a road that runs in front of the plant and school was closed.

Prime Pak Foods merged into Foundation Food Group, a company that takes raw chicken and processes it into products like chicken fingers and individual chicken cuts for restaurants and food service operations. The company’s CEO did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Gainesville is the center of Georgia’s poultry industry, which is the nation’s largest, with thousands of employees working for processing plants.

Hackers Leak Data of 2.28 Million MeetMindful Users

Photo: Kirill Kudryavtsev/AFP (Getty Images)

Millions of users of the dating site MeetMindful got some unpleasant news on Sunday. ZDNet reported that the hacker group ShinyHunters, the same group who leaked millions of user records for the company that listed the “Camp Auschwitz” shirts, has dumped what appears to be data from the dating site’s user database. The leak purportedly contains the sensitive information of more than 2.28 million of the site’s registered users.

According to ZDNet, the 1.2 gigabyte file was shared as a free download “on a publicly accessible hacking forum known for its trade in hacked databases.” It included troves of sensitive and identifiable user information, including real names, email addresses, city, state, and ZIP code details, birth dates, IP addresses, Facebook user IDs, and Facebook authentication tokens, among others. Messages, however, were not exposed.

The outlet, which included screenshots of the file posted to the hacker forum as well as a small sample of the data exposed, highlights that not all the leaked accounts include the user’s full details. Nonetheless, it stated that the information leaked could be used to link individuals’ dating profiles to their real-world identities. The hacking forum where the data was posted has been viewed more than 1,500 times. Per the outlet, it is still available for download.

ZDNet said it was informed of the leak by a security researcher, who it did not name, earlier this week. It added that it had contacted MeetMindful on Thursday to ask for a comment on the matter but had not received a response for days.

Gizmodo has also gotten in touch with MeetMindful to ask it about the reported hack. We’ll make sure to update this blog if we hear back.

According to its Crunchbase profile, MeetMindful is a dating site platform for “people who are into health, well-being, and mindfulness.” It was founded in 2013, is based in Denver, Colorado, and is still active.

Here’s where it starts to get a little strange, though. The site’s listed social media channels have been inactive for months, which is interesting considering that major dating apps have been growing during the pandemic. I mean, don’t they want to encourage their users to date (safely)? From the outside, the service seems like dead zone. Who knows though, it could be all the rage inside the site itself.

It is unclear whether MeetMindful has notified its users of the incident. If it’s true, users need to know so that they can be on the lookout for suspicious activity and change logins and passwords if necessary. Bottom line: Get moving.

Red Dead Online Leak Potentially Reveals Big Upcoming Update

A new Red Dead Online leak is making the rounds that possibly reveals what is coming to the popular video game later this year. Since it released Red Dead Online in Beta a month after Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games has been relatively slow to support it, especially compared to GTA Online, which clearly has priority due to its larger number of players. However, it looks like Rockstar may be cooking up some big things for the online western such as bank robberies and more

Over on YouTube, Silentc0re relays word of some new files added to the game with the recent update. Of course, this by itself isn’t notable nor exciting, but the content of these files have players talking. For one, brand new files for various driveable boats have been found in the files. Meanwhile, there are files that range from new to newly updated that point to bank robberies coming to the game, including files with assets for money bonds, jewelry bags, safes, strong boxes. Of course, bank robberies are something players have been begging for since launch, and it’s something you’d assume Rockstar Games will eventually add, especially considering how popular heists are in GTA Online.

Lastly, there are files that seem to indicate that Rockstar Games has been doing work involving Guarma, the island from the game’s campaign. Right now, the speculation is that a legendary bounty could take players back to the island, much like the Cayo Perico update takes players to an island that is locked to just the mission.

That said, right now, there’s some contention over the leak, with some suggesting these files have been in the game since before launch, which in turn suggests they are nothing more than cut content. However, this wouldn’t explain why Rockstar Games is updating them.

For now, take everything here with a grain of salt. While datamining leaks are typically quite reliable, they can routinely spawn false conclusions and misconceptions.

At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not commented on this leak in any capacity nor has it revealed what it has in store for the game for this year. If either of these things change, we will be sure to update the story. In the meantime, for more coverage on all things Red Dead Redemption 2, click here.
