Did Call of Duty game leak Bears/Steelers signing?

NFL news can truly come from anywhere. Even from an online video game between complete strangers.

In what has to be one of the most random potential news leaks in recent memory, Reddit user ProbationOfficer2035 posted a blind nugget on Saturday to Reddit’s NFL thread about what he believed to be a trade. It wasn’t so much that the user had gotten some information about something in the works — it was how they got the nugget.

In this case? In a bit of wild improbability, it came from an open microphone during an online “Call of Duty” game called Warzone, which features an option to randomly team up with strangers and play together virtually. In this specific case, the Reddit user (who is a self-professed Green Bay Packers fan) just so happened to be teamed up with the significant other of Chicago Bears offensive lineman Rashaad Coward. And well, if you’ve ever played “Call of Duty” online, you often get random teammates whose open microphone can pick up virtually everything being said inside their room. Including the conversations of people who aren’t even playing the game.

As ProbationOfficer2035 described it…

(Image via Reddit/ProbationOfficer2035)

Normally, this would be chalked up to nonsense. But in the immediate aftermath of that Reddit post — and likely without having any idea that someone had heard his background conversation — Coward, who was a restricted free agent for the Bears and not tendered an offer by the team, tweeted this:

Then came Sunday, when one of Coward’s agents, Brian Adkins, tweeted a followup aimed at Coward’s wife (who is an avid gamer with her own Twitch channel) that appears to confirm something did indeed happen in a random “Call of Duty” game:

Of course, none of this actually confirms that Coward is signing with the Steelers — and as of Sunday night, no deal had happened. But at least one thing is certain: The ears of the NFL’s rumor mill are everywhere, including on the other side of that gaming microphone.

SpaceX seemingly takes steps to protect telemetry data after leak

SpaceX typically broadcasts its tests in their entirety, but some amateur radio users wanted access to even more data. SpaceX is known to use specific frequency bands to communicate with its spacecraft, and some amateur radio astronomers were attempting to access the telemetry data in those broadcasts. SpaceX made a move to encrypt the video feeds after several from a Falcon 9 Starlink launch were intercepted and decoded, giving access to video typically only seen by employees.

Earlier this month, video communications between SpaceX mission control and a Falcon 9 second stage were making rounds on social media. The leaked video showed views of the Earth from the second stage rocket and inside the Liquid Oxygen tank of the second stage rocket. The amateur radio users learned the frequencies SpaceX uses because the company was forced to inform the FCC and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the frequencies used to communicate with its rockets.

That requirement meant that the frequencies were publicly available. After success with capturing video and telemetry data from the Falcon 9 launch, the amateurs decided to attempt to grab similar footage from the Starship SN11 test. The user pointed an antenna at the SN11 prototype. While he was able to capture the communication data between the test vehicle and mission controllers, unlike last time, they were unable to decrypt the information.

While the communications between SpaceX and the Falcon 9 mission previously were unencrypted, SpaceX has encrypted data between controllers and Starship. There’s a possibility that SpaceX has always encrypted data for Starship test flights and simply doesn’t bother to encrypt data for Falcon 9 missions.

Certainly, the amateur radio users will attempt to capture data from future Falcon 9 missions, and if it’s now encrypted, SpaceX has taken steps to protect its data. Leaked data certainly poses the potential to harm SpaceX as a company, and it would make sense that it would want to encrypt all of the information.

iPhone 13 leak just revealed the design we’ve been waiting for

The iPhone’s notch may be here to stay, at least on this year’s coming models. But that doesn’t mean the iPhone 13 notch has to stay the same size as the one Apple’s included on all its recent handsets.

MacRumors obtained a set of images from Greek repair provider iRepair that show three different panels for a 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch display, similar to the models Apple included in last fall’s iPhone 12 release. But the notch on these images is smaller than anything we’ve seen before.

In addition to the smaller notch, it looks the the phone’s earpiece seemingly having been moved to the top bezel instead. This is a stark change from what Apple has typically gravitated toward over the years, though many iPhone users have asked the manufacturer to reduce the size of the notch as new iterations of the iPhone hit the market.

Leaked iPhone 13 screen images (Image credit: MacRumors)

We’ve been expecting a smaller notch on the iPhone 13 for some time. Throughout various leaks and renders, creators have insinuated (and hoped) for a slimming of the notch, or a bit of alteration in some way to make the iPhone’s distinctive design feature less prominent. Most recently, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that new iPhone models would find their Face ID components slimmed down in future iterations. However, a repositioning wasn’t part of the plan, apparently, at least in these initial leaks.

Ever since Apple introduced the iPhone X in 2017, there have been no changes to the notch. Going forward, more than the notch will be affected, however, according to Kuo. In fact, Apple reportedly plans to introduce a hole punch display for some iPhone models in 2022, much like some of Apple’s competition. Following that, the company could even introduce an iPhone with the first all-screen design in 2023 — no notch to be seen here.

In terms of the main phone design, the iPhone 13 — or whatever Apple ends up calling the new device — is rumored to feature a slew of new options, with a newer A15 Bionic chip, improved cameras, and a 120Hz display on the Pro models.

All of this is speculation, of course, as Apple has yet to confirm anything too specific for the iPhone 13. The cat is poised to be let out of the bag, however, when Apple reveals the next iPhone, most likely in September

Images of Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Pro and Pro 360 laptops leak early

Images of two of Samsung’s rumored upcoming laptops — the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 — have leaked early, giving us our clearest look yet at the two devices. The apparent marketing images were posted to Voice by reliable leaker Evan Blass, who says they could launch as early as April.

The Galaxy Book Pro will reportedly be available in both blue and silver, while the Pro 360 will come in navy and gold. Both are available with 13 and 15-inch displays. Blass confirms that the Pro 360 will support Samsung’s S Pen stylus, and his images show that some variants of the laptops will include full size keyboards with numpads. In the images, the Pro 360 appears to have a USB Type-C port, headphone jack, and microSD card slot, while the Pro is shown with a Type-A port visible alongside its card slot and headphone jack.

The existence of the two laptops has been known for at least a couple of months after SamMobile spotted that they’d been registered with the Bluetooth SIG back in January. A pair of reports in February from SamMobile and leaker WalkingCat revealed more of the laptops’ specs, including OLED displays, Thunderbolt 4, and optional LTE support. Internally they’re said to be running Intel’s 11th-Gen processors, and the 15-inch version of the Galaxy Book Pro could be available with Nvidia MX450 discrete graphics. According to WalkingCat, the Galaxy Book Pro will release in May alongside an ARM-based laptop called the Galaxy Book Go.

The two laptops join a slew of other Samsung machines released in recent months including the Galaxy Chromebook 2, which runs on Intel processors and includes support for styluses.

Elden Ring trailer appears to leak online

Is this the first footage from the game?

Bandai Namco

Since its reveal at E3 2019, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring has become a highly anticipated game. It’ll likely be a must-play for many gamers when it’s released for the PS4, PC and Xbox One. The Dark Souls developer worked with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin to create a new world, and thanks to a new leak, fans may finally be getting a glimpse of the action.

Snippets of a purported trailer first appeared on Twitter on Monday, and then a trailer was uploaded to YouTube. The video has not yet been confirmed by publisher Bandai Namco as the trailer for the upcoming game.

The footage contains a few trademarks for FromSoftware’s games. In one shot, the player’s character sneaks behind an enemy and stabs them in the back. There are two glances at magic being used in combat with one surrounding the character and then shooting out, similar to the Homing Soulmass spell in the Dark Souls games. There’s also a spell that appears to create a magic spear that’s similar to the various magic weapon spells found in the developer’s games. And it wouldn’t be a FromSoftware game without huge bosses as shown multiple times in the leaked trailer.

The Elden Ring News YouTube channel uploaded a second part of the leaked trailer. This one doesn’t show combat like the first, but it has a bit more of the world the game takes place in. The narrators also mentioned how the player “crossed the sea of fog all the way to the Riftlands.”

Fog is another mainstay of FromSoftware’s games, with boss areas usually blocked off by a wall of fog. There also is a quick shot of three different player classes, and one has the typical wizard attire. In FromSoftware games, with the exception of Sekiro, players have starting classes to choose from that will have different stats and equipment.

Two more leaks appeared Monday and were combined with the first two to create an almost two-minute trailer. The final videos were recorded from a screen like the first two, but it appears to be a different location and there’s no audio. More of the world is shown and, again, looks very similar to FromSoftware’s Dark Souls games. Then in the final leak, a character in robes appears and seems to be the antagonist in the game.

There’s not much known about Elden Ring outside of the small bits of information released in 2019. The game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, said that Martin created the mythos and that this would be one of the developer’s biggest games ever. Elden Ring’s initial release date was set for March, but it appears to have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, Bandai Namco also trademarked “Bandia Namco Next,” according to Nibellion on Twitter. This could be the publisher’s own showcase happening soon, which would likely prominently feature Elden Ring.

Bandai Namco didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

First Google Pixel 5a renders leak [Gallery]

Google’s next phone is unsurprisingly a “Pixel 5a,” and leaked renders today suggest that the mid-ranger will be nearly identical to the Pixel 4a 5G.

OnLeaks (Steve Hemmerstoffer) on Voice today has renders of what’s being called the “Pixel 5a.” The dimensions (156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm) are nearly identical to the Pixel 4a 5G, though it’s 2.3mm taller, .8mm narrower, and .6mm thicker. A “unibody (likely plastic made) rear panel” is said to be in use, with the Pixel 3a and 4a both opting for plastic rather than glass. The only appreciable difference looks to be a ridged power button design.

Despite tweaks to the physical body, it also has a 6.2-inch OLED FHD+ display with a thicker bottom bezel breaking the uniformity of the other three sides. There continues to be a hole-punch front-facing camera in the top-left corner.

The camera system is a notable improvement over the Pixel 4a by jumping to a dual-lens setup, but — again — it’s said to be the “same configuration as seen on the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5” (12.2MP dual-pixel and 16 MP ultrawide). Other shared specs as an a-series phone include the 3.5mm headphone jack and rear Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor. There are two cutouts for a speaker and microphone flanking the USB-C port.

This “Pixel 5a,” if that ends up being the final marketing/launch name, would have an incredibly staid design. Such an approach would, in theory, help lower Google’s production costs, with the overarching goal of the a-line to be creating an affordable entry device.

Today’s leak offers no specifications or insight into what processor Google will use to power the Pixel 5a, though 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is a safe bet. A big question is whether this device will feature 5G connectivity given the big push in 2020.

In terms of launch, the first half of this year is a safe bet as last year’s phone — barring the pandemic and production disruptions — would have likely been announced in May, just like 2019’s Pixel 3a.

This leak shows that Sony’s noise-canceling earbuds could fit in your ears better

Sony’s upcoming WF-1000XM4 earbuds may have been shown off in a leak, with a slimmed-down design. The leak from MyDrivers (via MySmartPrice) claims to show the sequel to Sony’s very good WF-1000XM3 — and if it’s real, it seems like a nice design upgrade.

The new purported design does away with the large, Popsicle-stick-like design that sticks out of the user’s ear, and instead goes with a more modern style of bud that fits in your ear — similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.

Last year’s WF-1000XM3, for reference.

The leaked image shows a copper accent cylinder that acts as a design flair similar to Sony’s 1000XM3 headphones or its modern, high-end Walkmans. We’ll likely have to wait for an official announcement to find out its purpose — whether it’s a charging port, microphone array for active noise cancellation, or something else entirely. At the moment, though, I can’t help but hope that this leak is real, as these are a considerable improvement over the old model.

Fortnite Leak Reveals Strangest Crossover Yet

A new Fortnite leak has revealed the game’s strangest crossover yet. Fortnite is crossing over with everybody these days. From Marvel and Star Wars to the NFL and God of War, Epic Games has been going absolutely wild with the crossovers. In this process, it’s had some odd ones, but none odder than Peter Griffin. That’s right, according to a new leak, a Fortnite x Family Guy crossover is seemingly in the works.

Of course, this is odd for a myriad of reasons. For one, Fortnite is often advertised for children. Family Guy is very much not for children. This also isn’t the mid-2000s. While Family Guy is still running, it’s nowhere near as popular as it used to be. Despite all of this, it looks like Epic Games is planning to add Peter Griffin to the game, which means you may soon have a squad of Batman, Ninja, Master Chief, and Peter Griffin running around. And if that mental image doesn’t reveal how weird video games have gotten, or at least how Fortnite has gotten, then I don’t know what will.

As for the leak itself, it comes the way of a new datamining effort, and courtesy of the new Street Fighter cosmetics added. Right now, the datamine has yet to reveal a skin, but it did pull the backbling texture below:

Now, there are only two explanations for this being in the game. The first is what the speculation above suggests is happening: Peter Griffin is coming to Fortnite. The only other possible explanation is someone at Epic Games is having a little fun and trolling both dataminers and fans.

At the moment of publishing, Epic Games has not commented on this leak in any capacity. If this changes, we will be sure to update the story with what it has to say. In the meantime, for more coverage on the free-to-play and PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile battle royale game, click here or continue to the links below:

2 New Cold War Zombies Maps Leak Ahead of Season 2

Black Ops Cold War is finally about to get a new Zombies map, but the leak of 2 additional maps might confirm a Season 2 launch.

Since launch, Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been a little lacking in content. Besides the Cranked and Jingle Hells modes, Treyarch’s latest Zombies mode has been somewhat neglected this time around.

But all that is about to change, as Firebase Z joins Die Maschine in the Cold War roster in a few days’ time. The second map looks like an incredibly interesting location, with a lot of new content to explore.

(Source: Activision)

And what’s more, there may actually be 2 more Cold War Zombies maps coming soon, as fans speculate about a new leak.

These maps were first teased in the Firebase Z official trailer, but you’ll have to look closely to spot them.

Leaked Black Ops Cold War Zombies Map Set in the USA?

Thanks to new information revealed in Firebase Z, we know the location of 2 new Zombies maps. One is a previously leaked Cold War location, Berlin, and the other Zombies map may well be set in the USA.

During the trailer, right when the Aether Reactor goes off, a map is visible on the wall monitors. And as YouTuber TheGamingRevolution points out, there are a couple of blinking lights to see.

These locations are both labeled as ‘Identified Outbreak Zones’ which appears to confirm that they are upcoming map locations.

(Source: TheGamingRevolution)

We’ve actually seen teases like this before, as a similar map in the Die Maschine intro and the Cold War Zombies menu also indicates an outbreak in Berlin.

Read More: New Firebase Z Gameplay Leaks for Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Given the location of the Berlin red dot, fans actually believe we know what’s coming to Cold War soon. Many users are predicting that Black Ops Cold War Zombies is getting a Kino Der Toten remake as DLC.

Of course, this Kino der Toten will likely use the old location and expand upon it, much like Die Maschine did with Nacht der Untoten. Regardless, we’re excited to see what comes of this leak.

Hopefully, this new map will come with yet another new Wonder Weapon like Firebase Z’s R.A.I. K-84.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Alcatraz Leak?

However, the other map location is definitely set in North America, with fans believing it to be set in San Francisco. This could confirm that Cold War Zombies is heading to Alcatraz in a future update.

This location has already appeared in Blackout, Treyarch’s attempt at a battle royale mode. It wouldn’t be farfetched to imagine that the location could return, in the undead survival mode.

As for when these 2 new Zombies maps could release, TheGamingRevolution points out something interesting. At the end of a recent blog post, Treyarch indicated big plans for Zombies in Season 2.

“Before we go, we’ll leave you with this: what we’ve talked about today is just a glimpse of what’s planned for Zombies in 2021. If you think you know what to expect in Season Two… thing again.”

With that in mind, we could well see both maps release in the coming season. After all, Cold War Season 1 brought us multiple Zombies locations, and Season 2 appears to be ramping up dramatically.

However, with one Cold War Zombies player recently crashing at Round 506, we hope the new maps are more stable than Die Maschine.

In the past, Treyarch confirmed a new Zombies map in Cold War Season 2. However, it’s also possible that the developer was talking about Firebase Z, which was pushed forward.

In the meantime, check out the full Firebase Z map layout ahead of the new update. It helps to prepare when dealing with the undead, after all.
