Philadelphia hit-and-run driver struck 3 people in same night, 1 dead: Police
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Investigators believe the suspect wanted in a deadly hit-and-run in North Philadelphia is the same driver who struck two other people.
It started at the Rivers Casino on Delaware Avenue, moved to Broad Street and Spring Garden streets and finally to Broad and Lehigh Avenue.
The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of Rivers Casino on Delaware Avenue.
Police say a person on a scooter was struck by the driver of a Ford Mustang. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Authorities say the driver headed to Broad and Spring Garden streets and struck a pedestrian. The victim was also treated for minor injuries.
The driver then proceeded north to Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue where police say the Mustang struck a 22-year-old who was standing at a bus stop around 8:15 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to Temple University Hospital.
The Mustang was found a few blocks away at Broad Street and Indiana Avenue with heavy front-end damage and a smashed windshield.
Police say the driver ran from the scene.
No arrests have been made and police are working on a description of the suspect.

Officer shoots hit-and-run suspect during gun battle outside King of Prussia Mall, officials say
UPPER MERION TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Upper Merion Township police are investigating an officer-involved shooting outside of the King of Prussia Mall.
It happened Sunday afternoon in the parking lot outside of the Seasons 52 grill.
According to police, the incident started with a hit-and-run around 2:30 p.m. in the area of the mall.
A bike officer responded to the scene and that’s when police say the suspect fled the parking lot in a red Nissan Juke.
“The vehicle then attempted to exit the Mall property by the Seasons 52 exit that leads to North Gulph Road. The vehicle became stuck in traffic and a marked patrol car pulled up behind it. Upon seeing the officer, the suspect turned right, jumping the curb and then proceed to drive into the Season 52 parking lot, driving off a 4-foot stone wall, where his vehicle became disabled,” said police in a news release.
The officer in the patrol car chased the fleeing suspect who authorities say was armed with a 9 mm handgun.
At some point during the foot chase both the officer and suspect exchanged gunfire. More than 20 spent shell casings were found at the scene.
The suspect suffered at least two gunshot wounds to the legs and was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was not injured.

Pomona: Father of 4 is ID’d as victim killed in hit-and-run crash at Pomona taco stand; 12 others hurt
POMONA, Calif. (KABC) — Officials and family members on Saturday identified a 52-year-old man who was killed when a hit-and-run driver slammed into a popular taco stand in Pomona, injuring 12 others.
Gilberto Cazares Payan’s name was released by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. His goddaughter told ABC7 that Payan was a father of four, adding that he was visiting the taco stand to pick up dinner Friday night when the violent collision occurred.
The crash happened just before 7:45 p.m. in the area of West Holt Avenue and Dudley Street, near Kiwanis Park, according to the Pomona Police Department. The driver’s vehicle ended up under the stand’s pop-up tent, scattering chairs and tables in its wake.
The driver, a 26-year-old Pomona woman, ran from the crash site but turned herself into police just before 11 p.m. She has not been publicly identified.
Payan was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighter-paramedics.
Twelve others were injured, some critically. Updates on their respective conditions were not available Saturday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.

Pomona crash: 1 killed, 12 injured after hit-and-run driver slams into taco stand
POMONA, Calif. (KABC) — A man was killed and 12 others were injured in Pomona after a driver crashed her car into a taco stand and ran away from the scene Friday evening, police say.
Pomona police say the crash was reported around 7:45 p.m. in the area of W. Holt Avenue and Dudley Street.
It was initially believed a total of 11 people were hurt in the crash, but the victim count later increased to 13.
Police confirmed one man died in the crash. Ten other victims were hospitalized and two others were treated at the scene.
The taco stand was destroyed in the aftermath of the crash — tables were toppled and a car, possibly belonging to the suspect, was underneath a tent.
Police say the driver left her car and ran away from the scene, but she later turned herself in.
Neighbors say they the taco stand is popular and they are saddened by what happened.
The area was closed as authorities investigated the collision.
An investigation will determine if speed or alcohol was a factor.
