Meghan and Harry Planned Money-Making Schemes Long Before They Left the Royal Fold, Embittered Staffers Claim

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “clearing the way to make millions” through commercial deals while they were still working members of the British royal family, it has been claimed.

The allegation is one of a series of new charges to be leveled at the couple by disgruntled former employees. Given that provenance, the new allegations will be treated with some skepticism.

However, the fresh claim does jibe with charges made last week that Meghan and David Furnish secretly pitched Netflix as early as 2018 with her idea for an animated series, Pearl, about a girl of the same name who draws inspiration from strong historical female figures. At the time, Meghan was still a fully fledged royal and would have been expected to seek permission from the palace to pitch commercial or non-commercial media projects.

The new allegation reportedly emanates from a small band of former Sussex employees who are are said to be considering whether to dish the dirt on the couple, apparently out of concern that Harry’s forthcoming memoir will not present “a full and accurate picture” of their lives as royals. Former employees have in the past jokingly referred to themselves as the Sussex Survivors Club.

The Daily Mail’s Dan Wootton, the journalist who first broke the news that Harry and Meghan were quitting the U.K., quoted a source in his report late Monday as saying that consideration was being given to a plan to allow former Sussex staffers to put their side of the story to reporters through friends, and that a “blind eye” could be turned to any violation of the Official Secrets Act that typically restricts former employees from divulging details of their royal appointments.

Wootton quotes a source as saying that the former staffers are “convinced” the book aims to “settle scores,” adding: “Many of the secrets they know are explosive and would blow up much of the victim narrative so carefully crafted by those two. For example, some of these staff members were aware of commercial conversations that were going on when they were still full-time royals—they were clearing the way to make millions long before Megxit was revealed.”

At the time of their departure from the royal family, Harry and Meghan said they valued “the ability to earn a professional income, which in the current structure they are prohibited from doing. For this reason they have made the choice to become members of the Royal Family with financial independence.”

That the new threat of turbulence on this front should come from former employees is not, perhaps, entirely surprising.

The couple’s troubled relationship with their staff is well known. They experienced a high turnover of employees by royal standards, with several key aides and assistants quitting after only brief spells working for them. For instance, Meghan was said to be a demanding boss, sending staff emails as early as 5 a.m.

The pair were previously accused of bullying employees when they were working royals. The relationship with their staff deteriorated to the extent that their former righthand man, Jason Knauf, wrote a letter to his superiors complaining about Meghan’s behavior, saying: “I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptable.”

He added: “The duchess seems intent on always having someone in her sights. She is bullying Y and seeking to undermine her confidence.”

The letter was leaked to The Times just before the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. Harry and Meghan condemned the leak as a “smear.” A private inquiry by Buckingham Palace is taking place into the allegations.

It has been reported that at least 10 former employees have sought to give evidence to the investigation, which is being conducted by a team of external lawyers.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes did not respond to a request for comment.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3’s IP rating could be better than expected

A few weeks ago, we had exclusively revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would come with an official IP rating. However, we did not have the information about their exact IP rating, and many were expecting that Samsung would make its next foldable phones splash resistant.

Max Weinbach has now revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 feature an IPX8 rating. If this information is true, Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones could stay protected even when they are submerged into water (up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes). That’s similar to the IP rating of Samsung’s conventional flagship smartphones, such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

The foldable smartphones won’t be resistant to dust, though, which is understandable, given the moving parts in the hinge. Samsung had developed a brush-like mechanism that removes dust particles from the hinge of its foldable smartphones, and the company may have improved it on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, it looks like that’s not enough to get a dust-proof ingress protection rating.

It appears that Samsung has really improved the designs of its next set of foldable smartphones by making them thinner, more compact, and more durable. Apart from featuring an IP rating, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 also feature more durable UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) screen protection and a lower gap between their two sides when they are folded.

Samsung has confirmed a date for its Galaxy Z Fold 3 Unpacked event: Korean media

Samsung had earlier confirmed that it would hold an Unpacked event later this summer to announce its new watches, which rumors say will be known as the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. The South Korean company is also highly likely to unveil its new foldable smartphones and earbuds at the same event.

The event date was previously a point of contention but a South Korean outlet has cleared that confusion.

A June report had said that the new products would be announced on August 3, but this was disputed by a later report and leaked Galaxy Z Flip 3 press renders, both of which had indicated that the Unpacked event would be on August 11.

Per Ddaily, Samsung has confirmed that the next Unpacked event will take place on August 11. It will start at 10 am EST and will be broadcasted live.
Alongside new watches, Samsung is also expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, and Galaxy Buds 2 during the event.

Here is what we know about Samsung’s upcoming products

According to an earlier report, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3 will hit the shelves on August 27 and the new Samsung watches will begin shipping on August 11.
Samsung’s new foldable handsets will probably have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 under the hood. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is likely to offer S Pen support, 120Hz screens, and five cameras in total, one of which will be embedded beneath the main screen.

The Flip 3 is expected to have a 120Hz main screen and a bigger outer display than the Flip 5G. The foldable devices are rumored to be considerably less expensive than their predecessors and this could make them one of the hottest phones of 2021.
Samsung was earlier expected to call its new watches ‘Galaxy Watch Active 4’ and ‘Galaxy Watch 4’, but it now turns out that the Active 4 is this year’s standard model, and the wearable that was previously known as the Watch 4 is actually the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

Rumors indicate that the Galaxy Watch 4 will feature a new design with a flat frame and it will do away with the rotating bezel. This shouldn’t be a problem as the watch will allegedly have a circular touch display with Gorilla Glass DX+ on top and two physical buttons.

The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic may flaunt a traditional design with a rotating bezel. Leaked images also point to a sizeable frame. We hear that this one will be available in three sizes and will be brimming with features. The watches will allegedly be pretty pricey and will run Samsung and Google’s new smartwatch operating system.

Lastly, let’s talk about the Buds 2. They will offer a few refinements over the original Buds and are likely to feature a dual-microphone setup for improved noise reduction and motion sensors for wear detection.

New England Patriots welcome LB Kyle Van Noy back into fold after just one season with Miami Dolphins

The New England Patriots have reunited with their former linebacker Kyle Van Noy, the veteran confirmed on social media Wednesday night.

The Miami Dolphins released Van Noy last week, just one season after signing him to a four-year, $51 million contract. The team tried unsuccessfully to trade the linebacker before releasing him.

Van Noy, who played both inside linebacker and edge rusher for the Dolphins, had 69 tackles and six sacks for the Dolphins in an up-and-down 2020 campaign.

Van Noy received a two-year contract with a maximum value of $13.2 million from the Patriots, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The Patriots have focused heavily on the front seven in free agency, having reached agreements with Dolphins defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, New York Jets defensive lineman Henry Anderson and Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Matthew Judon, while re-signing defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr.

A combination of Van Noy and Judon on the edges of the defense could help address one of the Patriots’ big struggles from 2020.

The Patriots’ run defense ranked 26th in the NFL last season, with opponents averaging 131.4 rushing yards per game. In addition, opposing rushers averaged 4.5 yards per carry.

A second-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 2014, Van Noy established himself as a starter after being traded to the Patriots in 2016. In four seasons with the Patriots, he had 16.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 221 tackles. He also was a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams.

Van Noy, 29, has 358 tackles, 23.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions in 95 regular-season games over seven seasons.

ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe contributed to this report.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 rumored to arrive in July

The Note lineup normally launched around September/October so we generally believed this was when we’d expect the new foldables to arrive. If a rumor is to be believed, Samsung may be planning to launch its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, in July this year – months earlier than the Z Fold2, which arrived last September.

If Samsung is now making a shift to its release strategy and its H1 flagship (the S21 seires) already released in January, then this new timeline makes sense. If the company should stagger two major calendar releases per year, they may be six months apart. This means new foldables would be expected six months after the Galaxy S21 lineup in July.

It’s still too early to tell whether there’s truth to this rumor. Perhaps the company might be on track to release foldables in July but it’s never known if it will run into some kind of manufacturing delay. Who knows, maybe Samsung’s figured everything out with folding devices for the third iteration. After all, it already went through a major recall with the first-generation Galaxy Fold.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 is expected to make a change from the UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) composition of the second-generation of foldables and may switch back to plastic. The Fold3’s display is rumored to measure 7.55-inches on its internal display with a 6.21-inch cover display. Another rumor said that the Galaxy Z Fold3 may be priced the same as the Z Fold2 when it launched: $2,000. A supposed render of the Z Fold3 looks like parts of the S21 Ultra were mashed up with a folding form factor and an S Pen. We are yet to see Samsung offer a folding device that supports the S Pen. Previous models have displays that are too delicate and mark easily.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 alleged render

For the Z Flip3, the inner display may grow to 6.7-inches diagonally and it is rumored to have feature a 120Hz refresh rate. The Z Flip3’s cover display is also expected to grow from the original Z Flip’s. It’s also rumored that there will be a cheaper Z Flip3 model, perhaps one powered by a midrange chipset.
