Kanye West brings out Marilyn Manson, DaBaby at ‘Donda’ event, stirring controversy

Kanye West made another controversial move at his latest “DONDA listening party” at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

On Thursday night, the rapper brought out Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women, along with fellow rapper DaBaby, also embroiled in controversy. The trio – West wore a black face covering – stood on a faux house stoop under a large cross.

West’s new song “Hurricane” – one in which DaBaby is featured – played as well as another song titled “Jail.”

After the event, a rep for West confirmed to Billboard that Manson’s voice will be featured on the upcoming album.

Manson “will continue to conceptually collaborate with Ye on the ‘DONDA’ project,” the rep said.

Ye’s decision to include Manson, real name Brian Hugh Warner, has caused a stir online as the rocker has been accused of rape and sexual, physical, and emotional assault by multiple women in various lawsuits.

“Westworld” actress and Manson’s former fiancee Evan Rachel Wood also accused him of sexual assault and abuse.

In February, Wood wrote on Instagram: “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

Manson has denied all charges and released his own statement in February. He said in an Instagram post the allegations were “horrible distortions of reality” and that his “intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual.”

For his part, DaBaby, 29, was swept up in a scandal earlier this summer when he made homophobic comments at a Miami-area music festival. The fallout included multiple apologies from the star and him being dropped from the lineup of the popular music festival Lollapalooza just hours before he was set to perform.

Reps for West and DaBaby – born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk – did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Fox News’ Nate Day contributed to this report.

Tory Lanez Bail Increased for Violating Megan Thee Stallion’s Restraining Order During DaBaby Festival Set

After being arrested last summer and subsequently charged for felony assault over an incident where he was accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez was issued a protective order. A judge required for Lanez to refrain from contacting or coming within 100 yards of Megan. Today in a Los Angeles court appearance, a judge ordered Lanez to pay additional bail, saying he violated the protective order during his appearance at DaBaby’s Rolling Loud Miami set, Billboard and TMZ report. His bail was increased to $250,000 from $190,000.

Lanez made an unannounced appearance during DaBaby’s set—which also featured DaBaby making homophobic remarks that led to multiple festival cancellations. His surprise guest spot happened just after Megan left the festival stage.

“You’re facing years in prison, over 22 years in prison,” Judge Keith Borjon told Lanez in court today. “They could have filed an additional charge based on violating the protective order because that’s a violation of law as well. You do not want to be doing things like this sir. You have the means and the where with all and a lot of smart people around you to advise you as to how you should be conducting your life so we don’t have to have hearings like this.”

Tory Lanez has denied allegations of wrongdoing in lyrics from the album DAYSTAR. In an op-ed published in The New York Times last year, Megan Thee Stallion wrote about being “the victim of an act of violence by a man.” She also alluded to the incident on her album Good News.

DaBaby spoke about the backlash to his homophobic rant during his set at Summer Jam, Sunday.

DaBaby addressed the response to his homophobic rant at Rolling Loud, during his performance at Summer Jam, Sunday. After thanking Hot 97 and apologizing in a pre-taped video, the rapper called his haters “cry babies.”

“[Hot 97] allowed me to share my gift, share my blessing with y’all out here live on this stage amongst all the chaos and all the backlash,” DaBaby said in the video. “So hats off to y’all for that… They accepted my sincerity and all my apologies when I said I never, ever meant to offend anybody or say anything to make anybody feel any type of way live on that stage a few weeks ago. And Hot 97 was also willing to stick they neck out on the line, willing to go against all odds with everything going on out here in the world, and still allow me to come out here on this stage and utilize they platform to help the world move forward.”

Miley Cyrus offers to educate DaBaby amid scandal, rails against ‘cancel culture’ in social media post

Miley Cyrus offered to educate DaBaby on the LGBTQIA+ community as he faces cancellation over controversial remarks he made during a recent live show.

While on stage at a Miami-area concert, the Grammy-nominated rapper used crude language and asked attendees who weren’t gay men or people not affected by HIV or AIDS to raise their cellphone flashlights. He then incorrectly said the disease would “make you die in two or three weeks.” His remarks prompted immediate backlash and he was quickly dropped from appearances such as New York City’s Governors Ball, Day N Vegas and Chicago’s Lollapalooza.

The rapper issued two apologies on the matter ahead of Cyrus taking to her Instagram to issue a statement about cancel culture and education regarding the LGBTQIA+ community. In the caption of her post, she specifically tagged DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, offering her personal help in educating him on HIV and AIDS within the community.

“@DaBaby check your DMS – would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!” she wrote, directing him and readers to the public information organization Greater Than Aids.

In her larger statement, Cyrus railed against the online community for fueling “a lot of hate & anger” and even discussed cancel culture taking root in situations like this that she believes are ultimately a chance for “education, conversation, communication & connection.”

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness,” she began. “The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture…but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication & connection.”

She added: “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds. There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!”

Cyrus has been relatively open about her sexuality since 2015. She has publicly dated both men and women in the past and continues to be an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.

DaBaby Fires Back at Questlove, Says He Doesn’t Know Who Quest Is

DaBaby isn’t letting up.

The “Rockstar” rapper has responded to Questlove in a series of Instagram Stories. “I ain’t even tryna be funny when I say… I do not know who dis n***a is dawg,” he wrote. “And I do not care bout losing you as a fan my boy lol @questlove. You or any other n***a who wanna play follow the leader. This superstar was a fan of is stand up n***a, yeen never seen one of these huh?”

Last night (July 28), Questlove made a statement on Instagram condemning DaBaby for his homophobic comments during his set at Rolling Loud Miami this past weekend. The Roots cofounder posted a screenshot that showed a list of artists—The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, The Isley Brothers, Rihanna, Sade, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Hiatus Kaiyote, Sault—but Baby’s name was scribbled out.

“I was hypothetically asked if I was curating an updated version of #SummerOfSoul who would be my acts? I gave my dream list,” he wrote. “And now I’m updating my list—because it’s 2021 and fuck the bullshit. I’m especially not here for any savagery (if you’re lost: Google the idiocy of the crossed out).”

DaBaby posted two more Instagram Stories after his direct response to Quest. “These n****s really think they gone influence people to stop fuckin w/ the influence,” he wrote on the next slide. “They go crazy bout what I say not yall. I got the influence and the nuts n***a. Y’all n****s cheerleaders.” You can see all three slides below.

This all comes after numerous artists have come out against DaBaby, including Dua Lipa and Elton John, among others. Baby initially defended his comments, but doubled down and has since continued to do so.

“[He] Paid Money To Have His Son R*ped”

The Grammy-nominated rapper reminded the public that Boosie previously bragged about a “super grown” woman performing oral sex on his 12-year-old son.

There have been several voices added to the conversations involving DaBaby’s homophobic remarks in recent days. Tory Lanez, T.I. and Boosie Badazz have defended rappers’ rights to speak out, with the latter two involving Lil Nas X into the controversy unprovoked. Earlier today, T.I. suggested that rappers are being bullied by the gay community while detractors counterargued that artists are being held accountable in ways they haven’t been in the past.

DaBaby’s comments about HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQIA+ community were enough to have people up in arms, but Boosie’s rant about the gay community and Lil Nas X has caused the Rap veteran to remain a trending topic throughout the day (July 28). The comments did not go unnoticed on Chika, and she made sure to call out Boosie’s current, and past, behaviors.

“Remember when boosie paid someone to sexually assault his son? oral sex, was it? so r*pe. remember when boosie paid money to have his son r*ped? in order to ‘train him.’ bc it takes training. boosie thinks you have to practice being a sexuality. i wonder why,” Chika tweeted. The Grammy-nominated rapper was referring to Boosie revealing last year that he allegedly facilitated his 12-year-old son receiving oral sex from a “super grown” woman.

“It seems to me that Boosie is mad that he can’t suppress his sexuality without the temptation of oiled up scantily clad n*ggas making it hard. (‘it’ being his d*ck.),” she continued. Someone attempted to curb the conversation and accused Chika of accusing homophobic men of being “down low.”

“This conversation isn’t about being DL, because that conversation is far more nuanced than y’all make it. and quite frankly, Twitter won’t handle it with care. however, it’s wild that the loudest homophobes have homoerotic tendencies themselves. yet condemn those who are open.” Read through her tweets below.

DaBaby Tries To Defend His Homophobic Comments At Rolling Loud

DaBaby is no stranger to controversies and unfortunate comments, and this weekend brought another round. During his set yesterday at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival, DaBaby made a bunch of comments that were an attempt to work up the crowd but flew right into homophobia. “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up!” He said, before continuing: “Ladies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up! Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up!” Video of the comments started circulating online, and garnered a lot of negative reactions.

T.I. Defends DaBaby’s Homophobic Comments

T.I. is catching heat online after defending homophobic comments DaBaby made during Baby’s Rolling Loud Festival set in Miami Sunday night (July 25), while also comparing the Charlotte, N.C. rapper’s remarks to Lil Nas X’s unapologetic music videos and performances.

Earlier this afternoon (July 26), Tip opined on a clip from DaBaby’s performance last night, which The Shade Room shared on their Instagram page.

“If Lil Nas X can kick his shit in peace… so should dababy,” he said, including an emoji of a man shrugging his shoulders. T.I. closed out the comment with the hashtag #equality.

Tip quickly caught flak via social media for his stance on DaBaby’s homophobic rhetoric, which was said during the same performance where Baby was seen dodging a shoe that was thrown at him onstage.

One person said: “Y’all confusing freedom of speech with respect. Just because you have a right to say something doesn’t mean you should. Have some respect for people and speak positivity not negativity. Plain and simple.”

Another wrote, “Its literally not the same, one is bein their unapologetic self and not harmin no one in the process and the other is spewin hate. this comparison yall keep on tryin to make between the two artist is not the drag yall think it is.”

T.I. hopped on Instagram Live hours later to expound on his IG comment.

“Ain’t nothing in the world gon’ make me hate nobody just because they do something different in the bedroom than I do,” Tip began. “Ain’t none of my business. Ain’t none of my business. Zero. I don’t give a damn what you’re doing.”

The rapper-reality TV star went on to say: “I got a lot of respect for muthafuckas like Lil Nas X and muthafuckas like Frank Ocean. Muthafuckas who step out there and live their truth. Honest with themselves. You dig? A lot of you muthafuckas out there hiding your truth.”

In a separate portion of the livestream, T.I. speaks on homophobia, denouncing that he categorizes himself as such.

“You can’t make nobody homophobic,” he tells. “Just because I am proud of what I am don’t make me hate what you are, period. Ain’t no way to tangle or twist that. Ain’t no hate. Ain’t no hate in that, bruh.”

He then compares Lil Nas X’s prior videos and award show performances to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s headline-making video for their joint track “WAP.”

“For instance, the Lil Nas X shit, the performances and videos,” he explains. “Man, I got a lot of respect for bruh because like I said, he had the courage to live his truth, but that shit ain’t for me. It just ain’t for me. I ain’t got no business looking at it… And I don’t want my children seeing it either because their minds haven’t developed to a place where they can wraps their minds around those types of experiences and those types of visual presentations. And know how to sort it out within their perception. You dig?.”

Tip adds: “And I actually feel the same way about the ‘WAP’ video. I actually enjoy the ‘WAP’ video a little bit better, but I still feel the same way. It’s the same the same thing. But if you gon’ have the ‘WAP’ video, you gon’ damn sure have the Lil Nas X video. And if you gon’ have the Lil Nas X video and him living his truth, you gon’ damn sure have people like DaBaby who gon’ speak they truth and it ain’t none wrong with none of it.”

As for DaBaby’s controversial remarks, the rhymer said while on Rolling Loud’s main stage last night: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDs, any of them deadly sexual transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, put your cell phone light in the air. Ladies, if your pussy smells like water, put a cell phone light in the air. Fellas, if you ain’t suckin’ dick in the parking lot, put your cell phone lights in the air.”

Lil Nas X has sparked many conversations stemming from his music videos. Back in April, the openly gay rapper received disapproving remarks from many, including members of the hip-hop community such as Joyner Lucas and Sada Baby, regarding his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video, which contains homoerotic undertones and shows Nas X giving Satan a lap.

Nas X’s 2021 BET Awards performance was also a trending topic as he closed out his show exchanging a kiss with one of his male backup dancers.

In Lil Nas X’s latest visual, “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow, he takes a similar approach in the risqué video, displaying nude men in the prison-themed clip. Nas X responded to comments over the weekend, which accused him of failing to fight for gay rights, but instead claimed that he’s “marketing the sexual irresponsibility that’s causing young men to die from AIDS.”

Nas X said: “Y’all be silent as hell when niggas dedicate their entire music catalogue to rapping about sleeping with multiple women. but when i do anything remotely sexual i’m ‘being sexually irresponsible’ & ‘causing more men to die from aids’ y’all hate gay ppl and don’t hide it.”

While there have been endless conversations surrounding homophobia and homosexuality in hip-hop, tons of folks online feel that T.I. defending DaBaby and comparing Baby’s comments to Lil Nas X’s music videos and award show performances is off-base and that the two topics have no correlation.
