Madonna had social media users up in arms after she shared a video to her Instagram account in which she appeared to lick water out of a bowl.

The post, which one user dubbed ’embarrassing’ and ‘disgusting,’ featured the 64-year-old pop music icon posing for still photos before transitioning to a blurry clip of her on all fours as she put her head just above the bowl.

The clip, which grossed out several viewers on Twitter, was released shortly after the rapper 50 Cent reignited a feud with her after he called her a ‘grandma’ while mocking a video of her angrily lip syncing to a song by Baby Keem.

The Material Girl hitmaker was seen riding a motorbike in the latest images as she showed off her figure in the skimpy outfit. 

She teamed the leg-flashing shorts with daring fishnet tights and over-the knee suede black boots as she put on an animated display. 

Madonna completed her look with a furry green T-shirt with a black under-top and wore white framed sunglasses and a huge silver necklace to accessorize, and she wore her red tresses in curly waves.

But the section that seemed to offend several social media users was a break in the midst of her slideshow that cut to video of her seem to leaning down for a drink in a silver dog bowl inside the garage.

A close look suggests that the pop icon didn’t actually lick it, as she appears to stick her tongue out and merely get close to the bowl.

It seems to be a playful (and overly literal) response to the song that soundtracked her slide show, the 1969 proto-punk classic I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges.

The song was ranked number 314 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list as of 2021, and it has been covered by numerous artists.

Madonna even reused the song herself when she sampled it for her 2005 song I Love New York. 

‘#Madonna shared another embarrassing & disturbing video on #Instagram where she licked water out of a dog bowl,’ complained one Twitter user. ‘On a scale of 1–10, with 10 being #Kanye, I’m pretty sure this has gotta be like an 8.’ 

Others were angered by the artists seeming resistance to acting her age.

‘Grow up already!!!’ seethed one user. ‘Your to old to be licking a dog bowl..your not the material girl no more your like the stupid nut job girl [sic].’

‘I wouldn’t let my dog drink out of a bowl Madonna licked!’ joked another person. 

One user compared Madonna to a dog and joked that she ‘humped a stranger’s leg.’

Another simply wondered, ‘Why is Madonna licking a dog bowl?’ 

One user joked that Madonna’s video simply went over the naysayers’ heads.

‘You’re just not “sophisticated” enough to understand Madonna’s art,’ they tweeted. ‘The water in the dog bowl symbolizes the inadequate spiritual nourishment of capitalism; the dog bowl symbolizes the degradation of servitude and slavery.

They saved a final barb for the conclusion: ‘The coyote ugliness of the artist symbolizes … ugly.’  

Although the dog bowl segment of the slideshow seemed to draw the most attention, Madonna also posted a risqué photo of herself crouched down suggestively over a bottle of sriracha hot sauce as she leaned against a shelf full of condiments.

The online attacks came after 50 Cent reignited his feud with the Into The Groove by branding her a ‘grandma’ and slamming her over her recent bizarre lip syncing video.

The In Da Club rapper, 47, who was locked in a war of words with the songstress after he mocked a sexy selfie of her in 2021, took to Instagram to criticize another recent video, in which she angrily lip synced along to the track Vent by Baby Keem. 

50 — real name Curtis James Jackson III — reposted an image of an article discussing Madonna’s video and wrote: ‘I told y’all grandma was on bulls**! like a virgin at 64. LOL,’ before hashtagging his own alcohol brands.

Madonna has not yet responded to the star’s post.

This comes after the Like A Prayer hitmaker caused a stir last week with her video, which saw her mouth lyrics including: ‘Have you ever been punched in your motherf**king face? What you say, oh you haven’t? Alright, wait!’ 

She put on a busty display in a a sheer black top worn beneath a lace corset.

She posted a far more risque video to her TikTok, where she danced around in her lace bra, high-waist underwear, and twerked for the camera. 

Back in December last year Madonna took to Instagram to fire back on 50 Cent after he mocked a sexy selfie she posted.

Madonna shared a 2003 photo of herself affectionately posing alongside the rap artist calling him out for phoniness.

‘Here is 50 Cent pretending to be my friend,’ the Material Girl wrote in text overlapping the image. ‘Now you have decided to talk smack about me! 

The Papa Don’t Preach artist called out the rap artist for his tendency to attack others via social media.

‘I guess your new career [is] getting attention by trying to humiliate others on social media [the] least elevated choice you could make as [an] artist and an adult,’ she said. ‘You’re just jealous she won’t look as good as me or have as much fun when you’re my age!’

Madonna added, ‘Too bad there are no sour grapes [emojis].’

Madonna also posted a clip in which she was using a Yoda filter, sharing a message of self-confidence with her 17.1 million followers.

‘Cheer up, things could be worse, you could be me for instance,’ she said. ‘Personally, I like the way I look, but there are those that find it hard to appreciate people and things that are different. And they try to shame me or humiliate me or make me feel less than because I am not like everyone else.

‘But in fact, I cherish my uniqueness and I’ve grown stronger because to be unique is to be rare.’

The Like A Virgin singer made headlines after she posted a series of racy shots donning black underwear with fishnet stockings and heels, with one shot showcasing her legs and rear end.

50 Cent subsequently reposted the latter shot with harsh words toward Madonna, citing her age and the nature of her posts.

‘Yo this is the funniest s***!’ the If I Can’t rapper wrote. ‘LOL That’s Madonna under the bed trying to do like a virgin at 63. [She] shot out, if she don’t get her old a** up. LMFAO.’

50 Cent last week also reposted the shot likening Madonna to the Wicked Witch of the East from The Wizard of Oz, photoshopping her legs and backside under a house in a frame from the 1939 classic.

‘STARZ ask me to do a remake, I said only if Madonna is gonna play the role because i need star power and sex appeal in this one,’ he wrote.’
