Brad Pitt sues Angelina Jolie for selling her stake in French estate to Russian oligarch

Brad Pitt has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her stake in their Château Miraval, a French estate consisting of a home and vineyard in the south of France.

The couple purchased a controlling interest in the property back in 2008 “as a home to share with their children and the vineyard as a family business,” the complaint, filed by Pitt and plaintiff Mondo Bongo, LLC obtained by Fox News Digital, states.

Pitt claims he and Jolie “agreed they would never sell their respective interests in Miraval without the other’s consent.” However, Pitt claims Jolie broke that promise by selling her interest to a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.

“Jolie consummated the purported sale without Pitt’s knowledge, denying Pitt the consent right she owed him and the right of first refusal her business entity owed his,” the papers state. “She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt has devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.”

Pitt claims because of the “purported transaction,” his ex-wife and mother of his children now “seeks to recover unearned windfall profits for herself while inflicting gratuitous harm on Pitt.”

The “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor claims he’s poured his “money and sweat equity” into their Miraval wine business – and claims the “Maleficent” star “long ago stopped contributing.”

The residential property and vineyard are located in Correns, France. The lavish Château Miraval residence is where the exes wed in 2014. The complaint argues that Pitt had taken “the lead on developing Miraval’s grounds and building the business.”

The couple have been fighting in court over the $164 million estate in recent months. Pitt filed a complaint in September in Luxembourg, accusing Jolie, 46, of attempting to offload her 50% share in the sprawling property without allegedly allowing Pitt, 58, the first option to buy her out.

The property is owned by separate limited liability corporations that both parties control, according to the court papers, which state that Miraval is owned by Quimicum – a company Pitt originally held a 60% stake through his company Mondo Bongo. Meanwhile, while Jolie held 40% through her company Nouvel. Both Nouvel and Jolie are named as defendants in the new lawsuit in California.

Miraval is sold in over 65 countries, and revenues have grown from approximately $3 million in 2013 to more than $50 million in 2021, Pitt and his attorneys claim.

The coronavirus pandemic didn’t slow down Miraval’s profits. It grew by nearly 25% in volume in 2020 and sales had increased by almost 20%, the plaintiffs claim.

The couple purchased a controlling interest in the property back in 2008 “as a home to share with their children and the vineyard as a family business,” the complaint states.

The parties, through their representatives, engaged in buyout negotiations after Jolie informed Pitt “in writing” that she “could no longer maintain any ownership position.”

“But in a letter dated June 15, 2021, Jolie’s representatives abruptly informed Pitt that they were terminating discussions and disingenuously accused Pitt of having no intent on finalizing an agreement.”

Pitt claims that without his knowledge, Jolie had a buyer waiting. She advised the divorce court of an agreement she reached with a third-party buyer Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli Group, controlled by Shefler. On September 8, 2021, he says he made it “crystal clear” he was “not consenting to the sale of Nouvel LLC or any of the assets thereof.”

Jolie is being sued for tortious interference with contractual relations, breach of implied-in-fact contract, breach of quasi-contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and constructive trust. Plaintifs Pitt and Mondo Bongo, LLC, demand a trial by jury.

Pitt and Jolie’s divorce was finalized in 2019. They share six children together.

Brad Pitt sues Angelina Jolie over French estate Château Miraval

Brad Pitt is suing ex-wife Angelina Jolie, accusing her of illegally selling off her share of their French estate, Château Miraval.

Pitt alleges they had agreed that neither would sell their share of the Château — where they married in 2014 — and its profitable vineyard without agreement from the other party.

But the “Fight Club” star claims in the suit that while the vineyard became “Pitt’s passion,” Jolie brazenly sold off her share to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler without his permission.

The court documents, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, state, “Jolie consummated the purported sale without Pitt’s knowledge, denying Pitt the consent right she owed him and the right of first refusal her business entity owed his.

“She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.”

The vineyard property is worth $164 million.

The Miraval estate is located in the village of Correns in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France. The 35-room mansion is surrounded by lush gardens with a moat, fountains, aqueducts, a pond, a chapel, and a vineyard that Pitt says he has invested a large amount of money in.

Jolie, 46, and Pitt, 58, bought the estate in 2008 for $28.4 million, with the intent to bring up their children there and build a family wine business. The couple tied the knot there in 2014, splitting in 2019.

And while their messy divorce has been finalized, the couple is still embroiled in court battles over child custody and their considerable assets.

Pitt developed the vineyard at Miraval into a multimillion-dollar business and one of the world’s top producers of rosé wine.

But the court papers state that, by 2013, “Jolie stopped contributing altogether” for the renovations, while Pitt “continued to invest millions of dollars … [funding] roughly 70 percent of the couple’s investment in Miraval.”

In January 2021, “Jolie informed Pitt in writing that she had reached a ‘painful decision, with a heavy heart,’” the suit alleges.

“Jolie explained she had purchased Miraval with Pitt ‘as a family business’ and as the place she believed they ‘would grow old’ together,” the suit continues.

“Nevertheless,” Jolie continued, she could “no longer maintain any ownership position in an alcohol-based business given her personal objections.” Pitt began negotiations to buy out Jolie’s share.

Then, in October 2021, the wine division of the Stoli Group, Tenute del Mondo, announced it purchased Jolie’s 50 percent stake in the estate and the wines it produces. The business is controlled by Russian businessman Shefler.

The sale was a surprise to Pitt, who now claims he is deprived of using the Château as his private home and can no longer oversee the company that he helped to create and invested millions of dollars into.

The suit adds, “Jolie seeks to recover unearned windfall profits for herself while inflicting gratuitous harm on Pitt. Jolie long ago stopped contributing to Miraval — while Pitt poured money and sweat equity into the wine business. Jolie seeks to seize profits she has not earned and returns on an investment she did not make.”

Plus, “The purported sale deprives Pitt of his right to enjoy his private home and to oversee the business he developed from scratch.”

And while Pitt’s investment and work to develop Miraval wine now means the property is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, “Miraval’s success and associated rise in value allowed Jolie an opportunity to capitalize on Pitt’s success and cash out, without ever having lifted a finger to grow the enterprise.”

A source familiar with the situation added, “Unfortunately, this is another example of the same person disregarding her legal and ethical obligations.

“In doing so, she has violated the rights of the only person who poured money and sweat equity into the success of the business by purporting to sell both the business and family home to a third-party competitor.

“She is seeking a return on an investment she did not make and profits she did not earn.”

Lawyers and a rep for Jolie were not immediately available for comment.

Angelina Jolie still send’s ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton’s son Harry presents for Christmas

She finalized her divorce from actor and filmmaker Billy Bob Thornton in 2003.

But Angelina Jolie still has a warm relationship with her stepson Harry James Thornton all these years after ending her marriage.

Harry revealed Wednesday in an interview with ET that the 46-year-old Academy Award winner still chats with him on the phone occasionally and even sends him Christmas presents every year.

‘To this day, she still sends me Christmas gifts every year and stuff like that,’ Harry said. ‘I don’t talk to her on the phone every day but every now and then we talk.’

Billy Bob shares Harry with former Playboy model Pietra Dawn Cherniak, whom he was married to from 1993 until their divorce in 1997 amid her claims that he had abused her in front of their children.

Thornton and Jolie first starred together in 1999’s Pushing Tin before their whirlwind courtship. After only two months together, the couple wed in 2000.

Harry gushed that ‘she was so cool’ to him and his siblings.

Still close: ‘To this day, she still sends me Christmas gifts every year and stuff like that,’ Harry said. ‘I don’t talk to her on the phone every day but every now and then we talk’

‘She took us camping every week and she rented, like, an RV one time, and we went on a full camping trip,’ he recounted.

‘She was just so fun for us back when we were, like, younger. Like, she was a lot of fun.’

In addition to Harry, 27, Thornton also shares William Thornton, 28, with Cherniak. The Sling Blade star, who has been married six times, shares his daughter Amanda Brumfield with his first wife, Melissa Lee Gatlin, and he shares daughter Bella Thornton, 17, with his current wife Connie Angland.

Prior to starting his relationship with Jolie, Thornton had been engaged to Laura Dern, whom he dated for two years.

Late in their relationship, Jolie adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia on her own, and she separated from Thornton three months later in 2002.

In a 2004 profile for Vogue, the Changeling star described how her marriage fizzled out, seemingly ‘overnight.’

‘It took me by surprise, too, because overnight, we totally changed. I think one day we had just nothing in common,’ she explained. ‘And it’s scary but … I think it can happen when you get involved and you don’t know yourself yet.’

In addition to Harry, the children of David Hasselhoff, Martin Lawrence, Eazy-E, Ray Parker Jr. Billy Gunn, Shaquille O’Neal and Pat Benatar are featured.

Angelina Jolie was spotted stocking up on groceries at a Bristol Farms in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

The 46-year-old Academy Award-winner was joined on the errand run by her youngest daughter Vivienne, 13, who helped her carry bags out of the store.

Jolie looked ultra chic in an oversized black coat styled with a pair of black skinny jeans.

The Maleficent actress slipped her feet into a pair of black leather booties and toted her belongings in a purse resting in the crook of her arm.

Meanwhile, Vivienne looked comfortable in a white crewneck sweatshirt, shorts, and a pair of slip on Nike sneakers.

The mother-daughter duo carried several reusable bags filled with grocery items, while also carrying a pack of canned sparkling water.

But regardless of having six kids to look after at her home in Los Angeles, Angelina has managed to find time to also work with teens around the world to better their education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Eternals star has been doing so in partnership with the Maddox Jolie Program which is overseen by her eldest son Maddox.

On Sunday the red carpet fixture shared a post to Instagram that detailed her recent work adding that she ‘loves’ to see young women excel.

The rumoured girlfriend of singer The Weeknd said she is very hands on with one student in particular.

‘She is a leading light in promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics for children and young people across the world. Most of all for girls, who are under-represented in the sciences, and particularly in ICT, a growth area for employment in the future,’ added the Maleficent star.

ICT stands for Information and Communications Technology.

The 30-year-old French studio wizard – who has worked with Brian Eno – told PEOPLE: ‘It was an intense moment where we just talked and talked about sound.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and screenwriter Ehren Kruger are also involved in the untitled project, which is the subject of a bidding war between Paramount, MGM, Sony, Universal, Netflix, Apple, Amazon and Disney, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Angelina Jolie reacts to Middle Eastern countries banning ‘Eternals’

Jolie, who plays warrior Thena in the Marvel film, discussed Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar’s request by censors to make changes to the film, reportedly because it features a same-sex relationship, which Disney declined to do.

“I’m sad for [those audiences]. And I’m proud of Marvel for refusing to cut those scenes out,” Jolie said to Australian website news.com.au. “I still don’t understand how we live in a world today where there’s still [people who] would not see the family Phastos has and the beauty of that relationship and that love.”

Adding, “How anybody is angry about it, threatened by it, doesn’t approve or appreciate it is ignorant.”

“Eternals” which is directed by Chloe Zhao tells the story of 10 immortals who are fighting the Deviants. In it, Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) is in a same-sex marriage with Haaz Sleiman.

It is Marvel’s first gay character in a starring role.

Angelina Jolie spoke out about the recent accidental shooting involving Alec Baldwin that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The “Eternals” actress has worked with guns on many different movies, including the “Tomb Raider” franchise as well as “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” She’s also directed a few movies that have required firearms on set. As a result, she knows the safety precautions that are in place and can empathize with a cast and crew who learned the hard way that sometimes those aren’t enough.

“I can’t imagine what these families are going through,” Jolie told The U.K. Times in a recent interview. “At this moment, the grief and the tragedy of that accident is quite overwhelming.”

She added: “I’ve always been very careful because I’ve had to work with guns a lot. The way I’ve worked or checked when I’m directing, there are certain procedures. You have to take it very seriously.”

Jolie, however, stopped short of joining many in show business who have pledged that they will no longer work with real firearms on the sets of movies or TV shows. Instead, many have said, like ABC’s “The Rookie,” that they will work only with fake or rubber guns and let things like muzzle flare and sounds be added in VFX later.

Her statements come around the same time as stars like Dwayne Johnson are making full-on pledges to change the way they operate. Speaking to Variety, the actor noted that his upcoming Netflix movie alongside Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds will be the last one in which he uses real firearms.

Angelina Jolie avoided answering a question about the nature of her relationship with The Weeknd while promoting her latest movie, “Eternals.”

While appearing on E!’s “Daily Pop” with co-star Salma Hayek on Monday, host Justin Sylvester asked Jolie if her children are more excited about her Marvel film or her friendship with the “Secrets” crooner.

“They’re very excited about this film, if that’s what you’re asking,” a smiling Jolie said, glancing at her co-star Salma.

“They’re very excited about this film,” she repeated.

The “Maleficent” star, 46, and The Weeknd, 31, have been spotted out on multiple dinner dates in Los Angeles in recent months, sparking rumors that the pair are romantically involved.

In September, Jolie arrived separately from the “Blinding Lights” singer at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif.; however, after a couple of hours inside, they were photographed leaving together.

Giorgio Baldi appears to be a favorite dining place for the Hollywood duo, as it was also the setting for their first-ever sighting together in June.

The duo have not participated in any PDA, so the nature of their relationship remains unclear, but a source told Page Six they’re simply colleagues.

The pair have been spotted on multiple dinner dates.

For footwear, the “Salt” actress wore a pair of bold peep-toe platform pumps. The shoes featured black suede uppers, as well as a thick platform and towering heel. Jolie’s footwear elevated her look with an instant height boost, while also remaining sharp and classic when paired with her dress.

Platform pumps have returned as a go-to shoe style this season, due to their thick soles that offer both height and support. Many styles often include thin or thick heels, as well as ankle straps for added security. Jolie is the latest star to wear the style. Angelina Jolie Spends More Time With Ex Johnny Lee Miller Over Dinner

In 2014, she recalled meeting her ex-husband on the set of the 1995 thriller Hackers, saying that she associates the film with “love.”

“That’s where I met Jonny, who is still a great friend,” Angelina shared. “So I think of him when I think of that. Although, I’m sure the movie looks so ancient now, but we had a lot of fun making that.”

Following their split in 1999, Angelina went on to marry Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt, while Jonny was married to Michele Hicks. They’re both divorced from their respective partners and are currently single.

Angelina has seemingly remained single since her divorce from Brad, telling British Vogue in February that she has “been focusing on healing our family.” Now that her six children are older though, she said, “[Happiness is] slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

And Angelina Jolie was proud to have daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt and poet Amanda Gorman at her side during Variety’s Power Of Women gala at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Thursday.

The Maleficent star, 46, was radiant in coffee-colored pleated silk with a high collar as she wrapped her arms around her eldest daughter, 16, and Gorman, 23, one of the evening’s honorees.

The American poet joined Katy Perry, Lorde, Channing Dungey, and Rita Moreno as they were recognized at the event for their philanthropic work.

Amanda glowed in a hot pink Versace gown which swept down to the floor. Continuing the glamour, she rocked purple lipstick, dangling earrings along with jeweled pins in her hair.

During the actual event, Angelina took to the stage to present Gorman with Variety’s Power of Women honor.

She praised the national youth poet laureate for captivating the country at the inauguration of President Joe Biden as she said: ‘The young woman of grace, who stepped fearlessly to the podium on inauguration day. Not just the youngest but the strongest voice we could ask for in that moment.

‘The Amanda we see today might seem as if she leapt into our times, fully formed, to summon our better angels. But there was an Amanda we didn’t see.’

Jolie quoted some of Gorman’s own words as she continued: ‘A little girl with a speech impediment. In her own words, “a buck-toothed, kinky-haired, speech-garbled 7-year-old.”

According to Variety, the Power Of Women event gathers an intimate group of philanthropic women who have been selected as the publications honorees, as well as the most powerful women working in media and entertainment.

Presenters in attendance include Gayle King, Hunter Schafer, Jolie, Gloria Calderón Kellett and Ava DuVernay, along with additional attendees Garcelle Beauvais, Jenna Dewan, Kelly Hu, Sylvia Kwan, Loni Love, Justina Machado, Marlee Matlin, Alyssa Milano, Tia Mowry, Kim Raver, Elisabeth Rohm, Jill Scott, Paxton Smith and Patricia Velasquez.

The gathering happened with strict Covid safety protocol in place. Every guest had to provide a negative RT-PCR Covid Test within 72 hours of the event as well as proof of full vaccination.
