Luke Hansen scored a pair of second-half touchdowns and rushed for a game-high 182 yards to provide most of the offense for both teams as the Class 4A No. 2 Royals (2-0) broke from a 0-0 halftime deadlock to blank the visiting Flashes (1-1). Roncalli yielded just 76 yards of total offense to Franklin Central in a defensive battle.

Malachi Mink ran for a pair of touchdowns to help first-year head coach Casey Gillin notch a come-from-behind road win for the Braves (2-0) over the Woodmen (1-1). Mink tied the score at 14 in just before halftime with a short TD run and a two-point conversion, then gave Indian Creek the game-winner late in the third period with an 8-yard scoring run, coupled with the night’s only successful point-after kick, by Eli Bowling.

Two Patrick Fancher field goals — the last in the waning moments — allowed the Grizzly Cubs (2-0) to stun the Class 4A No. 6 Marauders (0-2) with a comeback triumph that reversed an 18-point setback against last year’s 4A champions. Franklin made the most of an 85-yard kickoff return for a score by Kaleb Owens and a 19-yard TD run by quarterback Clay Pinnick to erase Mt. Vernon’s 17-10 halftime lead.
