Rams vs. 49ers score: Live updates, game stats, highlights, analysis for Week 8 NFC West showdown

We’ve got a marquee matchup between bitter division rivals underway in Los Angeles. In an entertaining first half, the Rams took a 14-10 halftime lead over the visiting 49ers.

The Rams struck first when Matthew Stafford’s 1-yard touchdown run capped off a 17-play drive that took over nine minutes off the clock. San Francisco countered moments later when Christian McCaffrey threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Aiyuk. McCaffrey 12 total touches in the first half, two more touches than he had last week in his 49ers debut.

Los Angeles regained the lead minutes later when Stafford hit Cooper Kupp for a 17-yard score. The 49ers responded with a 29-yard field goal by Robbie Gould after the Rams defense stiffened in the red zone.

Stafford is exactly halfway toward a 300-yard game, while Kupp caught 7 of 9 targets for 72 yards in the first half. All but 15 of the Rams’ 165 first-half yards were through the air, as Los Angeles averaged just 1.5 yards per carry against the 49ers’ stout defensive front.
