The Las Vegas Raiders filed an official complaint with the league over “all the dirty hits” wide receiver Hunter Renfrow absorbed during their wild Monday night win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.
The Raiders — who beat the Ravens 33-27 in overtime at Allegiant Stadium on Monday — reportedly sent the league a video compilation of multiple plays in which Renfrow was hit either after the play or well away from the ball.
One play that surfaced on Twitter showed a perfect example of what the Raiders are complaining about. In the clip, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey drilled Renfrow and sent him to the ground far from the action while Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was still in the pocket. No penalty was called.
Humphrey said Wednesday that he apologized to Renfrow for that play, and said he thought that Carr was out of the pocket when he hit him.
“I did hit Hunter Renfrow a little after the play,” Humphrey said, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “I thought Derek Carr was out of the pocket. I apologized to him on the field. That was a play I wish I could take back.”
Renfrow finished with six catches for 70 yards in Monday’s win. The 25-year-old finished with a career-high 656 yards and two touchdowns last season, his second in the league, on 56 receptions.
“It will be interesting to see what comes of [the complaint],” Carr said, via Tafur. “It doesn’t bother [Renfrow] at all, he just doesn’t care.”
Renfrow wasn’t complaining about the hits on Wednesday, either.
“I didn’t notice anything different from any other game,” he said, via Tafur.
