The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions have one half of football in the books as they close out the NFL’s regular season on Sunday night.
Through two quarters, Green Bay held a slim one-possession lead thanks to the leg of Mason Crosby, who netted three field goals in the first half. Meanwhile, the Lions offense has shown flashes of being able to move the ball on this stout Packers defense, but haven’t been able to cash in for six and instead settling for field goals similar to Green Bay. Detroit nearly broke the game open with flea-flicker touchdown to Jameson Williams, but a holding penalty negated the scoring play. On the defensive side of the ball, Lions rookie Aidan Hutchinson continues to make a case for Defensive Rookie of the Year as he already has piled up two sacks on the night.
The Packers will punch their ticket to the playoffs with a win, while the Lions were eliminated from postseason contention after the Seahawks defeated the Rams in overtime earlier on Sunday. Now, it’ll either be Green Bay (with a win) or Seattle (with a Packers loss) that will head to San Francisco on Super Wild Card Weekend as the NFC’s No. 7 seed.
