FSU, which is coming off their bye week, is 2-0 after victories over Duquesne at home during Week 0 and then over LSU in New Orleans, La. two weeks ago. FSU is 2-0 for the first time since 2016. The last time FSU was 2-0, they traveled to Louisville and lost 62-20.
Louisville is 1-1 after a season-opening loss against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Syracuse and then a victory last Friday at UCF. Friday’s game will be the first at home for Louisville so far this season. They are having a ‘red out’ inside Cardinal Stadium.
Friday’s game marks the ACC opener for the Seminoles during the 2022 season. Since joining the ACC for the 1992 season, the Seminoles are 18-12 (.600) in their first ACC game of the season.
FSU leads the all-time series with Louisville 16-6, including a 6-3 record in Louisville. The teams first met in 1952 and have played every season since Louisville joined the ACC in 2014. Over the eight games played since Louisville joined the conference, the two teams are 4-4 against each other. FSU won the first two meetings, lost the next two, won the next two, and have lost the two most recent meetings preceding Friday’s contest.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell is 0-2 against the Cardinals, with both of those games being played over the past two seasons during his tenure with the Seminoles. FSU lost 31-23 to Louisville in Tallahassee, Fla. last season.
Norvell is 10-13 in his third season with the Seminoles. He is 48-28 in seven seasons as a head coach.
Louisville is coached by Scott Satterfield, who is in his fourth season with the Cardinals. He is 19-20 during his time in Louisville. He is 70-44 in 10 seasons as a head coach. He is 2-1 against FSU – all of those meetings coming during his time with the Cardinals.
