Gabriel Jesus: Arsenal agree terms with Manchester City forward on five-year deal

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus on a five-year deal ahead of a proposed £45 million move.

The Athletic reported on Friday evening that the clubs had reached an agreement for the transfer and despite previous interest in the player from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, Arsenal are now set to land their top striker target this window.

The Brazil international will become Arsenal’s fourth acquisition of the summer after the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.

Jesus, who had a year left on his City contract, moved to the Etihad in 2016 and went on to score 58 goals in 159 Premier League matches.

The 25-year-old will be foregoing Champions League football for at least one season by joining Arsenal, but will be reunited with Mikel Arteta, who he worked with while the Gunners boss was assistant to Pep Guardiola between 2016 and 2019.
