Florida State released its first two-deep depth chart of the 2022 football season on Aug. 22.

What a kickoff to the 2022 Florida State football season.
The Seminoles welcomed FCS opponent Duquesne into a renovated Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday to usher in FSU’s third season under head coach Mike Norvell.
Florida State had a disastrous meeting with an FCS team last season en route to a 5-7 finish. FSU enters this season with new talent, including transfer pass rusher Jared Verse. The offense will be led again by dual-threat quarterback Jordan Travis, who threw for 15 touchdowns and ran for seven more last season.
The Dukes went 7-3 in 2021 and beat FBS school Ohio. Quarterback Joe Mischler, an all-NEC player who tore his ACL to start last season, was back to open the 2022 season for Duquesne.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis is done for the day.
Backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker replaced Travis during the third quarter. Travis completed 11 of 15 passes for 207 yards while recording 11 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries.
Several other starters are out of the game heading into the fourth quarter.
FSU heads into halftime with a 26-0 lead after kicker Ryan Fitzgerald connected on two 24-yard field goals in the second quarter.
Running backs Treshaun Ward, Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili have been the story of this game so far. All three of them have had some impressive runs and several broken tackles. The Seminoles have 200 rushing yards on 28 carries.
Quarterback Jordan Travis completed 10 of 14 passes for 159 yards while turning four carries into 11 yards and a score. Mycah Pittman leads the wide receivers with four catches for 44 yards. Johnny Wilson snagged a 51-yard reception before leaving the game with an injury.
Duquesne quarterback Joe Mischler went 3 of 9 for 34 passing yards. FSU tallied four pass breakups and three tackles for a loss. Overall, the Seminoles outgained the Dukes 359-88 in total yardage.
FSU is in full command right now as it leaves the first quarter with a 20-0 lead.
The Seminoles have heavily leaned on their ground game, accumulating 129 yards on 19 carries across three possessions. Treshaun Ward continues to pace the running backs, leading the group with 69 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
The one concerning development for FSU, though, has been all of the injuries so far. Receiver Johnny Wilson went down with an injury on his 51-yard catch during the second drive. Center Darius Washington also left the game with an injury. Left guard Dillan Gibbons took Washington’s place.
Cornerback Omarion Cooper, receivers Ontaria Wilson and Ja’Khi Douglas, and center Maurice Smith were among players who didn’t dress out for the game.
First drive of the season, first touchdown of the season.
FSU capped a 12-play, 82-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jordan Travis. The Seminoles mysteriously attempted a two-point conversion, which was unsuccessful.
The FSU ground game looked strong on that opening drive. The Seminoles turned nine carries into 65 yards. Running back Treshaun Ward led the group with 38 rushing yards on four rushes.
It appears that top cornerback Omarion “Duke” Cooper will not play for Florida State against Duquesne.
Cooper, who listed as its starting boundary cornerback on its two-deep depth chart Monday, is not dressed out. Fellow defensive back Travis Jay and wide receiver Ontaria Wilson also aren’t dressed out.
True freshman Azareye’h Thomas seems likely to start in Cooper’s place. The Niceville High product was listed as Cooper’s backup on the depth chart. Thomas enrolled a semester early in January and has impressed all offseason, especially in preseason camp.
Another true freshman, Sam McCall, is another cornerback who could receive more playing time.
The Florida State and Duquesne players have taken the field to resume pregame warmups.
The scoreboard clock just started counting down, and now the new anticipated start time is 6:30 p.m. The game will still be aired on ACC Network.
The 5 p.m. start time has been officially delayed.
And the players on both teams are still inside to have safe shelter. Some Duquesne players, though, are standing near the visitors tunnel. When pregame warmups will resume remains unclear.
Once pregame warmups start up again, there will be a new anticipated start time.
This game could start later than scheduled.
The game is officially under a weather delay due to lightning in the area. The players warming up on the field had to head back inside to have safe shelter. It’s also raining pretty hard at Doak Campbell Stadium.

More than a dozen unpadded FSU players are on the field and warming up.
FSU already ruled out six players due to undisclosed injuries: centers Maurice Smith and Kayden Lyles, wide receivers Ja’Khi Douglas and Winston Wright Jr., linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. and walk-on running back CJ Campbell. Lyles, Dix and Campbell suffered season-ending injuries.
Reserve wide receiver Darion Williamson is not eligible to play in the first half against Duquesne. The redshirt sophomore picked up a targeting penalty in the second half against Florida, the final game of FSU’s 2021 season.
