Saturday will be the first-ever regular-season meeting between Penn State and Auburn. Both of the previous meetings were in bowl games, with one win going each way.
PSU has been a defensive stalwart early in the year, allowing 11.5 points per game. It bottled up Wisconsin for 10 points in Week 1 before holding Ball State — a top-25 offense in 2020 — to 13 points.
Auburn’s been all about the offense through two games, scoring 60 and 62 points in wins over Akron and Alabama State. The Tigers own the No. 3 rushing attack among FBS teams at 340 yards per game and 9.6 yards per carry. Jarquez Hunter (15.1 YPC) and Tank Bigsby (10 YPC) average more than 100 yards per game and have scored two touchdowns each. With a dominant offense going against one of the top defenses, something’s going to need to give in University Park.
