49ers sign OL Corbin Kaufusi to a one-year deal; release S Kai Nacua

The 49ers announced a couple of roster moves ahead of their preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Rookie Jaylon Moore didn’t practice on Thursday, but he was running on the side of the practice. There was no injury update on him, but Kyle Shanahan will speak with the media after Friday’s practice.

Because of this, the 49ers signed Corbin Kaufusi to fill in for Moore, who likely won’t play Sunday. Hopefully, Moore isn’t dealing with a serious injury. He’s made a good impression during training camp.

Joe Staley spoke highly of him to NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco on Thursday:

He was getting all the reps,” Staley said of Moore, “so I was intrigued. ‘What’s this kid’s story?’

“Another thing that really struck me, he was really eager to get into Trent’s ear and listen to what Trent was coaching up and things that he would see,”

“To see Trent do that with Jaylon in those two days I was there in practice was really cool to see.”

“I think right now, watching the film that I saw, because he was only getting reps at tackle, he looks like a natural tackle because of the movement skills and the stuff you really can’t teach.”

To make room for Kaufusi, the 49ers released safety Kai Nacua.

With Jaquiski Tartt and Tavon Wilson returning to practice, paired with Talanoa Hufanaga and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, reps would have been limited for Nacua.

We’ll have injury updates once Shanahan speaks.
