Elderly Cat Enjoying Custom Charcuterie Board and Wine Melts Hearts Online

One cat’s heart-warming tale has delighted the internet after a video of her enjoying the finer things in life went viral.

Shared on February 8 by TikTok user fupathecat, the video shows a full charcuterie board and bottle of wine before panning to Fupa the cat tucking into a custom-made charcuterie board with a bottle of special cat wine to the left.

The text overlaying the video reads: “When you’re an elderly cat with fleas, arthritis, a torn ACL, feline AIDS and herpes and get adopted by a 21-year-old college student and are now medicated and get your own charcuterie board and cat wine every Wine Wednesday.”

Shared with the caption “rags to riches,” the video has over 228,000 views and 16,000 likes.

Aged around 11-17 years old, Fupa’s conditions mean she is extra special. A torn ACL refers to a cruciate ligament injury that occurs when ligaments that connect the upper and lower leg bones tear or rupture completely. Cats with this condition will often struggle to bear any weight on the injured leg which can be extremely painful. Treatment options vary from medications to reduce pain and inflammation to surgery.

Feline AIDS, which is also referred to as FIV, is a relatively common condition that compromises a cat’s immune system. A feline-only virus that cannot be transmitted to humans, cats who test positive for FIV can live for many years without serious symptoms if they have the correct treatment and care.

This adorable rags to riches story has warmed the hearts of TikTokers, with many commenting of their joy for the lucky adopted cat.

One user wrote: “Living her best life as she should be,” while another said: “You rock for taking such good care of your fur baby! Such a lucky kitty!”

In the comments, the poster, fupathecat, gushed about how much her feline friend meant to her. She wrote: “Meeting her was the best thing that’s ever happened to me she’s an angel.”

The 21-year-old also shared that Fupa used to be a farm cat, so was used to stealing scraps: “She loves pasta and cheese and avocados,” she said.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reports that approximately 4.1 million shelter animals are adopted each year.

Some TikTokers commented on how they need to up their game when it comes to spoiling their feline friends. One user wrote: “I thought I was a good cat owner. I now realize my cats have never had a charcuterie board.” Another viewer said: “And I thought I was a good cat mom until I found out that cat wine exists… Well I gotta get some now.”
