RAMPING UP. TONIGHT ALLEGHENY COUNTY SAYS IT IS GETTING BACK ON TRACK WITH VACCINATIONS AT ITS CLINICS THIS A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THEY ANNOUNCED THEY HAD TO POSTPONE SOME SECOND DOSES. BECAUSE OF A LACK OF SUPPLY AND I WAS GONNA WAIT TILL THIS WEEK AND THEN CALL THEM SEE IF I COULD GO TO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF I COULD CALL THE VA AND GO TO THEM THOMAS KNOLL LIVES IN WHITE OAK AND GOT HIS FIRST DOSE THAT THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLINIC IN MONROEVILLE ABOUT A MONTH AGO LAST FRIDAY AN EMAIL THAT IS APPOINTMENT FOR A SECOND DOSE THIS COMING FRIDAY HAD TO BE POSTPONED. I STARTED GETTING WORRIED THAT WE WEREN’T GOING TO YOU KNOW, IT WASN’T GONNA BE AVAILABLE TODAY. HE GOT AN EMAIL WITH A LINK TO RESCHEDULE THAT APPOINTMENT SOMETHING. HE DIDN’T EXPECT THIS QUICKLY, BUT IT’S HAPPY TO HAVE PLANNED AGAIN. YEAH, IT’S GONNA BE EXACTLY ON TIME. WHAT CHANGED THE 7,000 DOSES ALLEGHENY COUNTY DIDN’T GET LAST WEEK CAME TODAY. WE’RE STILL A LITTLE BIT BEHIND ON THE SECOND DOSES COUNTY EXECUTIVE RICH FITZGERALD AND HIS OFFICE SAYS THERE ARE ABOUT 6,200 SECOND DOSES SCHEDULED THIS WEEK AT THEIR CLINICS, BUT JUST 2400 OF THE NEW SHIPMENT ARE DESIGNATED AS SECOND DOSES THAT DISPARITY MEANS SOME WHO GOT THEIR FIRST DOSE AT AN ALLEGHENY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLINIC. WE’LL GET THEIR SECOND WITHIN A 42 DAY WINDOW NOT 28. WE’RE CATCHING UP ON THE SECOND DOSE. AND AGAIN THE STATE IS INDICATED TO SPREAD THAT TIME OUT FROM 28 DAYS TO 42 DAYS COUNTY EXECUTIVE RICH FITZGERALD ADDED TODAY. HE’S OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE OVERALL PICTURE AS IT RELATES TO VACCINE DISTRIBUTION THE KEY EXAMPLE OF THAT OF THE 7,000 DOSES THE COUNTY GOT TODAY MORE OF THEM ARE BEING SCHEDULED AS FIRST DOSES AS OPPOSED TO SECOND DOSES A SIGN. People who do not have access to the internet were able to call for a limited number of first-dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments in Allegheny County starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.Those individuals, who must be age 65 and older, will need to make their appointments through the 2-1-1 line.According to a news release from the county, all of these appointments are for the county’s location at the Castle Shannon VFD Banquet Hall at 3600 Library Rd.Appointments are required at that location.According to the news release, any person arriving at the site without an appointment, or who is not 65 and older, will be turned away.
