Wrestling world is very excited for new WWE Hall of Famer Molly Holly

Along with Christian (and I’m sure somewhere Vince McMahon is saying “you sure blew your chance, pal”), Molly Holly was atop a lot of peoples should-be-in the WWE Hall of Fame lists.

Earlier today (Mar. 10), the former Women’s champion got the Hall call. We saw how moved Shane “Hurricane” Helms was to tell his old partner in superheroics the news on The Bump:

And in case that didn’t get the waterworks going for you, The Bump also showed this old clip of NXT’s Tegan Nox meeting her inspiration for the first time:

Nox was among many who jumped on social media to should out Molly (to save us from a string of quote tweets of the above video clips, I’ve screenshotted some of these. The original tweet is linked in those cases):

As to why she’s getting such a virtual “you deserve it” chant? She’s undoubtedly a great person, but she’s also dedicated to her craft. Take this story of how she bargained her way onto the WrestleMania XX card at a time when there was no guarantee a ‘Mania would have any women’s matches:

“I was a champion, and the writers told me that there was only room for one women’s match at WrestleMania. They were going to do a pillow fight or a mud match. I was really devastated and thought I gotta come up with something that makes them change their minds. So I put a bald cap on and had my photo taken. I made a booklet with a bunch of different storylines showing my head getting shaved. I presented it to Stephanie McMahon and some of the writers and said: ‘I’m willing to shave my head, can I please be on WrestleMania?’ Sure enough, they came back to me couple days later and said ‘All right, we’ll let you get your head shaved at WrestleMania.’”

Congrats Molly. You really do deserve it!
