Shakira attacked by wild boars, which are now rampaging in several European cities

Pop superstar Shakira says she was attacked by two wild boars as she and her 8-year-old son walked through a park in Barcelona, Spain.

The BBC reports Shakira detailed the incident in a series of videos posted to her Instagram story on Wednesday.

The singer said the wild boars “attacked” her before snatching her purse and running off with it into the woods. She managed to get the bag back from the animals, but not before they destroyed her property.

“Look at how two wild boar which attacked me in the park have left my bag,” the singer said as she showed off her torn bag.

“They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it,” she said. “They’ve destroyed everything.”

The incident comes as the prevalence of wild boars has become a worsening problem in several European cities.

Spanish police received a total of 1,187 calls regarding wild boar complaints in 2016, which included attacks on dogs and disturbing city roads by running into cars and holding up traffic, according to The Guardian

The wild boar population has skyrocketed across Europe in recent years, with more than 10 million estimated to roam the continent, according to the BBC.
