First Photos: Ford, Mirren In “1923” Series

Paramount+

Vanity Fair has released the first look photos from Taylor Sheridan’s newest series, the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

The new installment will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family in the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and a Depression all plague the Mountain West.

The new series explores what life was like for the second and third generation of Duttons to work the land. Ford plays Jacob Dutton, brother of James Dutton (Tim McGraw) from “1883” with Mirren as his wife Cara.

They now lead the family with the kids of “1883,” now in their late 30s/40s, dealing with new challenges. Of his role, Ford tells the outlet:

“The character is committed to the preservation of a way of life. These are extraordinary people in an extraordinary time. He’s the silverback. He’s responsible for that branch of the family. These are two people with a very strong bond to each other who are facing really complicated circumstances.”

The bulk of the series focuses on the construction of the sprawling Yellowstone ranch in Montana, though filming also took place in South Africa, Tanzania, and Malta. The show has already been renewed for a second season with both to run eight episodes each.

Sebastian Roche, Darren Mann, Robert Patrick, Jerome Flynn, and Timothy Dalton among others co-star in the season. “1923” will debut on Paramount+ from December 18th.
