Sharon Osbourne hospitalized after medical emergency: report

Sharon Osbourne has reportedly been hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency while on set for a new TV show.

The former “Talk” host, 70, “fell ill” while filming for a paranormal show at the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, Calif., on Friday, according to TMZ.

A spokesperson for the Ventura County Fire Department also told TMZ that they received a “medical call” from the tavern at around 6:30 p.m. local time.

Osbourne was reportedly taken to Santa Paula Hospital.

Her current medical condition is unknown.

Osbourne’s rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

It is unclear what could have caused the former “X Factor” judge to get sick as she opened up about any major health struggles recently.

However, in May, Osbourne revealed on Instagram that she contracted COVID-19.

At the time, she posted a photo of herself receiving aid via an IV drip and gave a peace sign from bed.

Soon after, though, Osbourne was back to work, appearing on television in the UK.

Over the summer, the “Charm School” alum had actually been tending to her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, after a “life-altering” back surgery.

“Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery,” Sharon wrote via her Instagram Stories in June.

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have been married for 40 years.

Prince William, Harry ‘done’ after Netflix revelations: source

Great Britain’s royal family put on a dazzling show of unity at Princess Kate’s carol concert on Thursday, with King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla and Prince William all showing up for “Together at Christmas” event.

Of course, they weren’t all together.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were at their $14.5 million home in Montecito, Calif., dealing with the fallout from the finale of their Netflix docu-series

The last three episodes saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex make a series of bombshell claims against the royal family as cameras followed them during some of their most intimate moments, from Prince Philip’s death to family time with their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

The most heartbreaking moments come when Harry, 38, speaks out about William — the big brother he had relied upon for most of his life and, before his marriage to Markle, his closest confidant.

In their new Netflix series, the Sussexes claim that William screamed at Harry during an argument in front of Queen Elizabeth.
Netflix

Harry says that William had screamed at him in front of Queen Elizabeth during a conversation about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quitting the royal family. He also states that William broke a vow the brothers had made not to pit their offices against each other in the press. William, the heir to the throne, is stuck in the “institution” into which they were both born, Harry says.

“I think that’s it,” one well-placed royal source told Page Six of Harry and William. “They’re done … “

While Buckingham Palace significantly stayed silent, the Daily Mail reported that William will be taking Harry’s comments “very personally.”

Princess Kate’s carol concert this past week showed the royal family united, except for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Speaking about the photos from Thursday that showed the royal family, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the Countess of Wessex, smiling at Westminster Abbey, the royal source said: “The photos of the family all together said everything, while Harry and Meghan were distanced, sad and bitter back in Montecito.”

Harry also admits during the series that he had lost friends after leaving the UK and he missed “the weird family gatherings” — although he adds that his mom, the late Princess Diana, had loved the US and would have “potentially” ended up living here.

Another insider pointed out the series revelation that the couple had made Hollywood bigwig Tyler Perry godfather to their daughter Lili, despite only having met him months before her birth. “Do they have any real friends, or is it just Oprah Winfrey?” questioned the insider. “They seem to be quite isolated.”

King Charles was also dragged into the Netflix show accusations, with Harry saying he lied.

The royal source speculated that Markle, 41, may not understand the extent of the royal family fractures. “Meghan [who has half-siblings] sees herself as an only child, I don’t think she understands the dynamics of siblings.”

Still, one London socialite who knows the Sussexes well said that Markle had reached out to William herself a few times after they moved to the US, only to be rebuffed by the future King.

“I’m told that William said he wanted to speak to Harry himself, and did not want to go through Meghan,” the socialite told Page Six.

Insiders say that after moving to the US, Markle tried to reach out to William herself but was rebuffed.
Netflix

A Kensington Palace rep had no response.

The Sussexes spent the past few years filming footage for the docu-series, including on their own phones as they left the UK and royal life.

But behind the scenes, as Page Six previously revealed, the couple attempted to edit out chunks of the show, directed by Liz Garbus, after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September — seemingly worried about how they could be perceived.

After the queen’s death, insiders say Harry and Markle wanted to edit chunks of the docu-series out of concern how they would be viewed by the royal family.

“They were concerned about the show premiering — with their many complaints — in such close proximity to the Queen’s passing, but the reaction would have been the same no matter when it aired,” said a well-versed Netflix insider.

“Harry and Meghan had made promises to Netflix, saying ‘We won’t step on your toes’, but then they wanted to push it back to next year and cut bits out. Netflix said no,” a second Netflix source said.

Page Six has reached out to Netflix for comment.

Sources previously told Page Six that Charles will still invite Harry and Markle to his 2023 coronation.

Perhaps one scene the couple wanted deleted is the bit where Harry — who fought two wars as a British soldier — says he was “terrified” when his brother “screamed and shouted” at him during at the Sandringham Summit, a meeting called to discuss his royal future.

He also accuses his father, King Charles, of saying things that “simply weren’t true” while the late queen “sat there and took it all in” at the emergency meeting.

Harry — who says he and Markle offered to give up their royal titles — claims he was given five options, including staying, and chose the “half in, half out” one, which meant the couple would have their own jobs but also work in support of the queen.

Hours after the final episodes of Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” dropped, much of the royal family ignored the controversy around it.
Netflix

“The saddest part of it was this wedge created between myself and my brother, so that he’s now on the institution’s side,” Harry says of the meeting. “Part of that I get, I understand, right, that’s his inheritance. So to some extent, it’s already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and continuation of this institution.”

The episodes are full of jibes at both William and his wife, now the Princess of Wales: Markle recalled meeting Kate for the first time, barefoot and clad in ripped jeans, and greeting her with an embrace.

“Like I was a hugger, always been a hugger,” Markle adds. “I didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”

A friend of the Waleses told People magazine this week, however, that “Kate’s a big hugger. She is warm and friendly and greets everyone with a big hug and kiss. It comes naturally to her to be like that.”

In one of the most damning moments of the series, the Sussexes accuse William of being behind a plot to get their former communications chief to fight against them. The couple learned that the ex-rep, Jason Knauf — who also worked in William’s office — had provided a witness statement and texts from Markle, as part of the couple’s legal privacy case against the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

When learning about Knauf’s statement, a distraught Markle tells Harry on camera: “So how do we deal with that? It’s your brother. I’m not gonna say anything about your brother, but it’s so obvious … ”

Among the never-before-seen photos in “Harry & Meghan” are ones of their son, Archie.
Netflix

Asked about the allegation that he had submitted a witness statement with the consent of William’s office, Knauf’s rep said: “These claims are entirely false.”

“Meghan and Harry don’t want to be completely booted from the family. Meghan particularly feels so strongly about what she perceives as the agenda against them and she is on this quest to clear her name — to tell the truth or, at least, her version of it,” a royal insider who knows the Sussexes told Page Six.

Page Six, meanwhile, has been told by multiple sources that Kate and William have no plans to watch the Netflix show, and were having aides view it instead. Despite an apparent olive branch following Queen Elizabeth’s death in September, when Harry and Markle joined William and Kate — at the Waleses’ behest — to tour tributes to the monarch outside Windsor Castle, the brothers never spent any significant time with each other while Harry was in London.

Harry has said that he loves William “to bits.”
Tim Graham Photo Library via Getty Images

As Page Six has previously reported, King Charles is said to want Harry and Markle at his 2023 coronation — and there’s very little chance he would ever strip them of their titles.

In Harry and Markle’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the prince admitted that his relationship with William “is space at the moment,” but added that he “loves William to bits — we’ve been through hell together. And you know, time heals all things, hopefully.”

However, there’s still Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” to be released on January 10, with doubtless more accusatons against the royal family.

But as the well placed royal source said: “How can you go on TV and talk about your only sibling like that?”

Miss America 2023 winner, Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanke, reflects on her shocking win: ‘Just absolute chaos’

Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanke, a nuclear engineering student, was crowned Miss America 2023.

The ceremony took place Thursday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Miss New York Taryn Delanie Smith was crowned first runner-up and Miss Texas Averie Bishop was named second runner-up.

“[It was] just absolute chaos,” the Wausau native told Fox News Digital about hearing her home state called. “There [were] no thoughts, just screaming and excitement. And then after it kind of sunk in a little bit because I still think it hasn’t fully sunk in… it’s the honor of being the representative of those… incredible women that I stood on that stage with.”

“Every single one of those women is doing something powerful in their community,” the 20-year-old shared. “Some are going to go on to become trauma surgeons, some are attorneys, some are just making a huge difference in their communities. And being selected as Miss America 2023 is just a huge honor.”

MISS AMERICA 2022, EMMA BROYLES, ON BEING PROUD OF OUR NATION: ‘I AM LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM’

Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanke was crowned Miss America on Thursday night.

The top 11 finalists were 10 women selected by the judges and one selected by America’s vote. They included Miss Nevada Heather Renner, Miss Hawaii Lauren Teruya, Miss Oregon Sophia Takla, Miss Ohio Elizabette Nies, Miss Indiana Elizabeth Hallal and Miss Illinois Monica Mia Jones, who was selected by voters as the 11th contestant to make the cut.

Stanke succeeds Emma Broyles, the first Miss Alaska contestant to win the Miss America title in the competition’s 100-year history. Along with the crown, Stanke was awarded a $50,000 cash scholarship, as well as a $2,500 scholarship she received as a preliminary talent winner for her classical violin performance.

“I started in Miss America’s Outstanding Teen organization when I was 13 years old,” Stanke explained. “I was a violinist and I had just started competing in local violin competitions. At the time, I was shaking, I forgot my music — overall, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. So 13-year-old me wanted to find other ways to improve my performance capabilities. And I found the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen organization, which has the talent portion of the competition. And I also learned interviewing skills. I gained lifelong friends, I earned scholarship dollars and I could stick with the organization. … And now here I am as Miss America 2023!”

Stanke, a student at the University of Wisconsin, impressed the panel of judges with her classical violin skills. She played “Storm” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” Stanke revealed she was eager to follow in her sister’s musical footsteps.

“My childhood thing was I did gymnastics, but then I quit in second grade when I was 8 years old,” she said. “And then my parents encouraged us to have a hobby because both my sister and I quit at the same time from gymnastics. So she picked the viola, an orchestral instrument… And my brother played trombone at the time… I had narrowed it down to either flute or violin. And of course, I followed my sister because I was 8 years old. And that’s really how I started with violin… As I continued to grow and learn more about it, I loved learning how a classical instrument can be taken with a modern twist and create some really incredible music.”

“I always thought a violin would just be Vivaldi or Beethoven, like all of those classical pieces,” Stanke continued. “But I’ve also played ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC and I have played ‘Smooth Criminal’ by Michael Jackson. I have played so many fun pieces on the violin that it just goes to show the incredible power of the arts.”

The glitzy competition was born from a 1921 Atlantic City beauty contest just a year after women were given the right to vote. Faithful Miss America organizers and enthusiasts contend the annual ritual is here to stay and will keep changing with the times. Many participants say the organization — a large provider of scholarship assistance to young women — has been life-altering, opening doors for them professionally and personally.

Stanke is aware that many critics insist the competition is outdated. However, she pointed out that the show, more of a sisterhood, celebrates leadership and talent.

“I would say as a nuclear engineer… somebody who’s here to make a difference, are the every single one of those 51 women standing on that stage there to just compete in a beauty pageant? No, we’re here to change the world. We’re here to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. The Miss America organization helped shape me to be who I am today. And I’m sure many of the women up on that stage, if not all of them, would say the same thing,” she asserted.

The competition also makes her even more proud to be an American, said Stanke.

“I’m just proud… of how much support and creativity that comes from the American people,” she said. “The amount of united feeling that we get really is just awesome… Miss America is an opportunity to speak to people all across the country. And it’s one thing that everyone can get behind. And that’s what’s really awesome about America.”

In the new year, Stanke wants to use her platform to raise awareness of clean energy.

“Right now, America is transitioning to zero-carbon energy for a variety of reasons,” Stanke explained. “One, climate change is a scientifically proven, real thing that we need to start addressing as one of the world’s leading carbon emission countries. But then also right now, the globe is running out of fossil fuels. That’s just an inevitable truth. So we need to start finding other options for our electricity as our population continues to grow. So with that, moving over to zero-carbon energy is going to be a crucial thing. I’m excited to talk about… all these different types of energy options that we have and how our homes can help make a difference in the globe.”

Stanke is also eager to share her love for the Midwest as she embarks on traveling the country.

“The ‘Midwest nice’ is very real,” she said. “That’s one thing that I love about my home state. One thing I’m excited to bring to the job of Miss America as I travel across the country is sharing that little bit of Wisconsin culture, of just saying, ‘Hey, let me hold the door open for you.’ The little things that can make… someone’s day. It’s just a piece of Wisconsin that I love.”

“I’m going to present 100 percent of myself,” she added. “That’s the most important thing. My family and friends know that as well. I’m Miss America, but I’m also just me.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

The 3 Zodiac Signs With Rough Horoscopes For The Week Of December 18 – 24, 2022

Because we start the week of December 18 – 24, 2022 with a Scorpio Moon, we’re already feeling a little tastier than we might like. Joined by Moon square Pluto, this transit takes us even one step further into the stress this week promises.

We have several transits in opposition, which could be the reason for so much frustration this week. We will feel the nagging sense that we’re leaving something out.

While that might not sound too overwhelming, imagine having this feeling every day.

RELATED: The 3 Zodiac Signs With Great Weekly Horoscopes For December 18 – 24, 2022

This week delivers FOMO on a high level. Fear of missing out is the stuff that drives people crazy. And during this week, we’re looking at how we imagine everyone else is having a good time while we’re over here in the doghouse, wondering what went wrong.

We anticipate being left out this week when we are invited in. Nobody is closing the door on us during this time, yet we approach every day, somewhat paranoid and wondering why we’re the odd person out. (Hint: we’re not. It’s all in mind, thanks to the master manipulator transit up there.)

RELATED: Each Zodiac Sign’s Weekly Tarot Horoscope For December 19 – 25, 2022

Because of the Moon opposite Mars, picking on someone smaller than us is the only way to alleviate our frustrations. We are fearful and nervous half of the time, and that nervous energy has to go somewhere, but we can’t seem to focus enough to direct that energy into something creative or positive. It’s also a week filled with jealousy, and for some signs of the Zodiac, fear of missing out will look more like envy.

The three zodiac signs with rough horoscopes for the week of December 18 – 24, 2022:

1. Gemini

(May 21 – June 20)

You feel so rushed and unready for all that is expected of you this week that a part of you wishes you were a robot and that you could just shut down. The pressure is too much, and in the line of business that you’re in, this week is crucial for business; you have to perform, and you have to perform well.

You won’t be able to separate work from pleasure this week and the stress of what’s ahead robbing you of any chance at seeking pleasure. You know this will all pass, as it has to; holidays don’t come every week, and you know you have to make the best of this one. You could pull back and witness what’s happening; perhaps you could get a laugh out of it all. What you’re going through is intense, but you can make it lighter for yourself by caring less.

2. Virgo

(August 23 – September 22)

This week has you doing just about every single thing that you can’t stand doing. Oh, you certainly love a good party, which is why this week will be all the more ridiculous for you, and why? Because there’s a good chance you’ll have to attend an office party or something along those lines, and when you arrive, you’ll feel like leaving as soon as you get there.

You are not interested in everyone else’s gossip, and being that you haven’t gotten that raise, you feel a bit resentful toward your bosses. The truth is, you’d have an excellent week spent doing what you love to do if you didn’t have all these awful work-related obligations. The holidays are a massive bore to you, but if you express that to anyone, they’ll shun you. You can’t win if you try!

3. Aquarius

(January 20 – February 18)

You will be allowing yourself the downtime you’ve wanted for an entire year now; in a way, it’s all about you hiding from the world. You aren’t into anything everyone else is into, and honestly, you want to slip into your private world where everything is OK. You may feel the pangs of jealousy as you witness everyone around you having fun and spreading good cheer, but in a way, you don’t believe they are as sincere as they say they are.

There are bitter moments for you this week, and so many of them come to you as visions of yourself as weak, fearful and envious. If you can steer clear of ‘the party,’ you’ll find the time to work it out on your own. Don’t worry too much, Aquarius; it is a rough week, but you’ve always known that in the long run, you CAN trust yourself, and during this week, your gut tells you to stay home and chill.

Katie Holmes and Bobby Wooten III reportedly break up

Katie Holmes and her boyfriend of eight months, Bobby Wooten III, are reportedly over.

“Katie and Bobby broke up last week,” a source told Us Weekly on Friday, explaining that the two simply “didn’t work out together for the long run.”

The insider added that Holmes is “no longer [talking] about him to his friends.”

Reps for the pair have not yet responded to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Holmes, 43, and Wooten, 33, were first linked romantically in April when they were photographed locking lips on a steamy stroll in Central Park.

The actress’ mother tagged along for the outing, seeming to indicate that the duo’s relationship was already quite serious.

A source said the two simply “didn’t work out together for the long run.”

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum and the Grammy-nominated musician made their red carpet debut as a couple the following month while attending the Moth Ball’s 25th Anniversary Gala.

“I’m happy to have [Katie] here as my date,” Wooten gushed to Us Weekly at the time.

A few weeks later, the “First Daughter” star and the composer held hands while hitting the Tribeca Film Festival.

Holmes then accompanied the Broadway veteran to his close friend’s Hamptons wedding in late June, where they reportedly packed on the PDA.

“Whenever they would go without seeing each other, they would kiss and be very happy to be together again,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly at the time, noting that the lovebirds were “very affectionate with each other at all times” and “looked very in love.”

They made several public appearances together, including on red carpets and at weddings.

The eyewitness added that the actress was even seen bonding with some of her beau’s relatives.

“Katie spent time with Bobby’s family, who really liked her,” the spy told the magazine. “Katie was very unassuming and kind to everyone.”

The former flames even attended a Paris Fashion Week show together in September.

Prior to Vitolo, Holmes quietly dated Jamie Foxx for six years. She was married to Suri’s dad, Tom Cruise, from 2006 to 2012.

Tory Lanez Shot Rapper Ex-Friend Says – Billboard

In a bombshell recorded interview played in open court on Friday (Dec. 16), Kelsey Harris, Megan Thee Stallion‘s former friend and assistant, claimed several times that she saw Tory Lanez shoot the “Savage” rapper and then bribed her and Harris to keep quiet — contradicting her in-court testimony on Wednesday and Thursday.

Judge David Herriford allowed prosecutors to play the entire 80-minute recording in front of the jury on day five of the blockbuster trial, in which Lanez is charged, among other things, with shooting Megan in the foot on July 12, 2020. The interview — clips from which were previously played in court during Harris’ two-day stint on the witness stand — was conducted on Sept. 14, 2022, in the presence of Deputy District Attorneys Kathy Ta and Alexander Bott, senior investigator Jody Little and Harris’ husband Darien Smith, with Harris’ two attorneys present via phone.

In the recording, Harris could be heard telling prosecutors that an argument between Megan and Lanez that started during a get-together at Kylie Jenner’s house on the night of July 12, 2020, and escalated on the car ride home ended with Tory shooting at Megan five times from the passenger side window of the SUV being driven by Lanez’s security guard Jauquan Smith. “The way Tory was angling the gun was down … definitely in her direction,” recalled Harris, who also claimed Lanez threatened to “shoot” her prior to allegedly firing the gun at Megan later that night.

Harris — who befriended Megan in college before becoming her assistant in 2019 — went on to emotionally recount the immediate aftermath of the gunfire, describing how she “immediately” ran to Megan’s side to find “blood” on her friend. “So in my head, [Megan] had been shot,” she said.

According to Harris, Lanez then exited the vehicle and began walking towards Megan, at which point Harris said she put herself between them — leading Lanez to “physically assault” her with his hands. She then claimed that after leading Lanez back to the car to “distract” him from Megan, he “started pulling” her by her hair and neck. “That’s when I started fearing for my life,” she continued.

Harris, audibly crying at this point in the recording, then claimed that the violence de-escalated once Megan returned to the car. Once they got back in the vehicle and continued driving — with Megan’s bloody leg propped on her own — Harris said Megan then asked her to call Megan’s manager T. Farris. Harris additionally claimed that she sent a text message to Megan’s security guard Justin Edison that read, “Help. 911. Tory shot Meg,” as well as a Facebook message to her mother requesting help. “I was really hurt [emotionally],” Harris continued, adding, “I didn’t realize I had bruises [from the attack].”

Once police vehicles pulled over the car, Harris said Lanez quickly began bribing the two women. “Please y’all don’t say anything…. I’m about to sign a huge deal … I’ll give you guys $1 million each,” she claimed he told them. After police became involved — and Megan’s manager Farris arrived on the scene — Harris, Megan and Lanez were separated, with Megan going to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai and Harris going to the police station, where photos of her with blood on her legs (shown in court on Wednesday) were taken.

Later on in the recording, Harris can be heard claiming that Lanez tried to bribe her again not long after the incident. After showing up at her hotel with Smith and another man, she said, Lanez apologized and asked Harris if she wanted to work for him, or for him to get her a lawyer. “[I didn’t know] if that was his way of trying to pay,” she added. She said that after telling Megan she had met with Lanez, the “WAP” rapper was critical, allegedly saying to Harris: “He’s just trying to play you.”

Harris’ interview with prosecutors in September was a far cry from her time on the stand. During her two days of court testimony, Harris acted evasive with prosecutors and defense attorneys and even recanted claims she made in September that Lanez had threatened to shoot her on July 12, stating that some of what she said wasn’t “accurate. There were some things I wasn’t truthful about to protect myself.” She did not go into greater detail about what she was protecting herself from, nor which parts of the interview were less than “100% truthful.”

During the September interview as well as her time in court, Harris stated that she has not seen Megan in person since the incident, noting that the last time they had contact was when Megan offered to pay for her housing in the aftermath of the incident. Harris also testified that Megan’s team cut off contact with her in the wake of the shooting. As she did in court, in the recording Harris could also be heard professing anger toward Megan, saying the rapper “never protected” her and even suggested that Harris took hush money from Lanez during an Instagram Live session. “I’m upset she didn’t clear my name,” she said.

On Tuesday, Megan testified that the fight that led up to the July 12 shooting derived in part from Lanez’s sexual relationships with both women as well as derogatory comments she made about the state of Lanez’s career. She claimed that after getting out of the car, “I started walking away and I hear Tory yell, ‘Dance, bi—!’” before being fired on by the singer. Though she initially denied to police officers that she’d been shot, in an Instagram post three days later (July 15, 2020) she confirmed that she’d been shot and had undergone surgery to remove the bullets. In an Instagram Live session on August 20, 2020, she named Lanez as her attacker.

Lanez currently faces three felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm; carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, the latter of which was added to the list of charges ahead of the trial last week. Netflix vs. Buckingham Palace: Spat Intensifies Over ‘Harry & Meghan’

The spat between Buckingham Palace and the producers behind Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” docuseries has intensified after it emerged that palace officials not only had an opportunity to comment on the Sussexes’ claims within the show, but tried to obtain footage in advance.

The war of words erupted last Thursday, shortly after “Harry & Meghan” dropped on Netflix at 8 a.m. U.K. time. The series opens with a set of title cards reading: “This is a first hand account of Harry and Meghan’s story, told with never before seen personal archive. All interviews were completed by August 2022. Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series.”

By late morning, it appeared Buckingham Palace sources had briefed royal reporters that the royals had not been approached for comment. The Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English tweeted at 12 p.m.: “Contrary to claims by the makers of the Netflix documentary, I understand neither Buckingham or Kensington Palace or any members of the Royal Family were approached for comment on the content of the series. I’m not expecting any comment from the royal households as it stands.”

Roya Nikkhah, royal editor for The Sunday Times, tweeted at 12:02 p.m.: “NEW Senior royal sources say this claim in #HarryandMeghanonNetflix that members of the royal family declined to comment, is wrong. Sources say they’re not aware of any approach to Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace or any member of the family on its content or for comment[.]”

A Netflix source immediately refuted the Palace’s claim, however, saying that both Harry’s dad, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, were approached for comment via their communications secretaries and given a chance to reply.

In the series, Harry claims his older brother “screamed and shouted” at him after he told them he and wife Meghan planned to “step back” from the Royal Family, and that William had effectively “bullied” him out of the family. He also alleged that his father had said “things that weren’t true” and that both men – or at least their offices – had leaked stories to the press about Harry and Meghan.

By the late afternoon, the Buckingham Palace sources had changed their tune, according to U.K. news reports, and confirmed that they had received a request for comment via a “third party production company,” which they had attempted to verify with both Netflix and the Sussexes’ production company Archewell. Having received no reply from either party they did not respond further to the request.

At 4.26 p.m. Nikkhah tweeted: “A @KensingtonRoyal source has clarified that an email was received ‘purporting’ to be from a third-party production company on the #HarryandMeghan doc from an unknown company’s email address. KP [Kensington Palace] contacted @netflix and Archwell to try and verify it but received no response[.]”

“I understand that a similar approach from an unverified email was also made to Buckingham Palace, and BP [Buckingham Palace] also unsuccessfully attempted verification,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet. “Sources say neither emails included substantial information on the series in for adequate right to reply[.]”

As Variety confirmed earlier today, that third party was Story Syndicate, the production company co-founded by “Harry & Meghan” director Liz Garbus. Story Syndicate co-produced the series alongside Archewell Productions.

Now it has emerged that not only did William’s communications secretary Lee Thompson acknowledge he had received Story Syndicate’s email but, in a reply dated Nov. 30, he asked the company to share footage from the series with him in advance of it dropping on Netflix, a source for Story Syndicate confirmed to Variety. Once Story Syndicate told him they could not share any footage in advance – but asked him again to respond to the claims made within the series, which they re-iterated in the email – Thompson did not respond further.

The Story Syndicate source confirmed to Variety that a request for comment was also sent directly to Tobyn Andreae, director of communications for the Royal household and spokesperson for King Charles. That email was sent to Andrae’s inbox as opposed to a generic Buckingham Palace email address and did not bounce back.

On the same day, Story Syndicate also emailed Jason Knauf (Prince William and Harry’s former joint communications secretary), setting out claims made about him in “Harry & Meghan.” A source close to the docuseries pointed out to Variety that, unlike the royal communications team, Knauf did not question the veracity of the production company’s email or involvement and responded to Story Syndicate’s query with a comment which was then included in the series.

Buzzfeed News, which first broke the news about Thompson’s request, reported that an Archewell employee received an email from the royal communications team regarding Story Syndicate’s query, but it was sent after the deadline had passed for a response to be included in the docuseries. Buzzfeed News added that Netflix had not seen any correspondence from the royals regarding the docuseries but that such a request may have been sent to “an obscure account.”

A source independently confirmed Archewell’s correspondence with the palace to Variety.

Buzzfeed News also claimed that Thompson and Andreae were the “royal sources” who briefed Nikkhah and English, sending them information via a WhatsApp group.

Variety has reached out to all parties for comment.
