Amy Schumer explains her part in Hilaria Baldwin controversy

It may feel like ages ago in the current news cycle but it was actually just last month. And in case you forgot, it sort of all started with comedian Amy Schumer poking fun at Baldwin posing in lingerie with her baby.

Now Schumer is speaking out about the story that consumed the internet.

“I feel like it was so insane and entertaining that I think Hilaria is probably the only person who is happy about the insurrection in the Capitol, because it distracted [people] from that,” Schumer told “Entertainment Tonight” before adding, “She is amazing and I wish her and her family the best. I hope she gets to visit Spain as much as she wants.”
Baldwin took issue with Schumer and others for mocking her for being proud of her post baby body. The former ballroom dancer and wife of Alec Baldwin welcomed her fifth child in September and shortly after posted a photo wearing lingerie while holding her baby boy.

Schumer re-posted the image on her Instagram account with a cheeky caption. But Baldwin didn’t see humor in Schumer’s post and took to her own Instagram page with a video message calling out Schumer and body shamers. It was then that commenters began noticing that Baldwin’s usual Spanish accent was noticeably absent.

That’s when her heritage began to be called into question, with people pointing out that she grew up in Boston, despite multiple online biographies citing she was born and raised in Spain. Although her family does live on the Spanish island of Mallorca now, they are from America. Videos from Baldwin’s television appearances began to circulate, one from the “Today Show” in which Baldwin forgets the English word for cucumber, and even her husband saying on a late night appearance that she hailed from Spain.

It was then Schumer poked fun at Baldwin again on Instagram in a since deleted post.

“I just felt like everybody else watching it. Just like, ‘What is going on?’ I thought we were still kinda playing, so I wrote, ‘Hey, look, I love Spain too.’ But then it became this whole big thing and people were really upset so I just took it down [too],” Schumer explained.

“Look, she’s a mom. She has a million and a half kids, and that’s really hard,” Schumer added. “So I just, I don’t want them to be going through a bad time. But also, you can’t just pretend you’re from Spain.”

In an interview with The New York Times, Baldwin says she has never claimed she was from Spain and that she has spent so much time overseas throughout her life that it’s only natural she has developed an accent.

Since the controversy Baldwin has laid low and has not posted on her Instagram page since late December.

First Look: Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana in Spencer

Kristen Stewart has made her debut as Princess Diana.

Principal photography has begun on Pablo Larrain’s “Spencer,” with production unveiling the first glimpse of Stewart as the young royal.

Written by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight, the film focuses on one weekend in the life of Princess Diana, as she spends the Christmas holiday with the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, and decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.

Filming will take place in Germany and the U.K. and a fall 2021 launch is anticipated. 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death.

The cast also includes BAFTA nominee Timothy Spall (“Mr. Turner”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water”) and Sean Harris (“Mission: Impossible”).

The film is produced by Juan de Dios Larraín (“Jackie”) for Fabula Films, Jonas Dornbach and Janine Jackowski (“Toni Erdmann”) for Komplizen Film and BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Paul Webster (“Anna Karenina”) for Shoebox Films.

“‘Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life,” said Stewart. “It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.”

“We are extremely grateful for the support of our distributors worldwide, our partners and funders who have shown tremendous commitment to us in these extraordinary times. With Kristen Stewart, Steven Knight and the rest of our fantastic team both in front and behind the camera, we are bringing ‘Spencer’ to the world. It is an independently produced film made for the big screen about an iconic woman’s own declaration of independence. We couldn’t be more excited,” said producers Jonas Dornbach, Janine Jackowski, Juan de Dios Larraín, Paul Webster and Pablo Larraín.

Executive producers are Tom Quinn, Jeff Deutchman and Christina Zisa for Neon and Michael Bloom, Maria Zuckerman and Ryan Heller for Topic Studios.

FilmNation Entertainment handled international sales with all key territories selling out of the Cannes virtual market. The CAA Media Finance group sold to Neon and Topic Studios to distribute in the U.S., STXinternational will distribute the film in the U.K., France, Italy and Benelux and DCM will distribute in Germany.

Other territories sold include: Australia/NZ (Roadshow), Latin America, Spain and Portugal (Sun), South Korea (Green Narae), Japan (Tohokushina), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Canada (Elevation), CIS/Baltics (Central Partnership), Eastern Europe (Forum), Middle East (Italia), Singapore (Shaw), Greece/Cyprus (Spentzos), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), India/Pakistan (Impact Films India), Israel (Lev), Turkey (FilmArti), South Africa (Empire), Taiwan (Moviecloud) and Thailand (M Pictures).

“Working on the script has been a pleasure. I think it’s a different perspective on a story that we don’t all know well, but we all feel we now are a part of it,” Knight told Variety in an exclusive interview last week. “And I just found the whole thing fascinating. To talk to people who knew her and to try and get a view of this person — who this person really was — who was an ordinary person in extraordinary situations, is the way I think of her.”

Knight said he hadn’t watched hit Netflix series “The Crown” because he didn’t want his perspective to be influenced by the show. Season 4 of “The Crown,” which began streaming in 2020, primarily focuses on the relationship between Lady Diana (played by Emma Corrin) and Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor). The season has been in the spotlight as the relatives of real individuals depicted in the drama have been speaking up about their portrayals.

U.K. Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden and Lady Diana’s brother Charles Spencer later demanded that “The Crown” carry a disclaimer that it is a fiction show, but Netflix declined.

Spencer is supported by the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, German Federal Film Board (FFA), Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and HessenFilm und Medien.

Cardi (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) rejected most of her fans’ advice including visiting a dermatologist, esthetician, or trying Retinol, Cetaphil, and face oil.

‘[Two weeks ago, the dermatologist] gave me some s*** that dried my face more and [made] me get more [pores],’ the Me Gusta rapper complained.

‘They said it will take 3 months but I don’t got time for that and [they] didn’t give me a reason on why I’m breaking out. I never broke out on my cheeks and chin.’

It likely doesn’t help Cardi’s spotty complexion when she gets fully-contoured make-up applied almost daily by her staffer Erika La’ Pearl Roman.

In the end, it took two-time Grammy nominee Kehlani to provide the former stripper with the proper referral she so desperately needed.

‘Ok @Kehlani recommended me somebody for my face,’ Cardi tweeted hours later.

Christina Anstead switches back to her maiden name Haack on Instagram amid divorce from Ant Anstead

She announced her separation from the English television presenter Ant Anstead in September.

And now Christina Anstead has updated her Instagram account to revert to her maiden name, Haack.

Although the 37-year-old Flip Or Flop star is now listed on the social media platform as Christina Haack, she appears to be holding onto her @christinaanstead handle, at least for the time being.

New name, who ‘dis? Christina Anstead, 37, reverted to her maiden name ‘Haack’ on Instagram amid her ongoing divorce from Ant Anstead, 41; seen in December 2019

Christina’s relationship with Ant, 41, began in late 2017, and they surprised their fans with a secret backyard wedding at their Newport Beach home in December 2018.

After marrying, she changed her last name from El Moussa to Anstead and began using the new name publicly and on her television series.

Less than a year into their marriage, Christina and Ant welcomed a son named Hudson, one.

However, the cracks began to appear in their relationship shortly after they became new parents, and they announced their separation a little over a year after Hudson’s birth.

Taking it slowly: Despite the new display name, her handle is still @christinaanstead for the time being

End of an era: Christina and Ant announced their separation in September, and she filed for divorce the following month; seen in December 2019 in Newport Beach, Calif.

At the time, a source told People that the marriage began to sour after the baby arrived.

‘After the baby, they started having conflicts,’ they said, and the HGTV star reportedly felt ‘lonely and unhappy’ while at home caring for her children.

‘Christina found it difficult to balance everything,’ they added.

After announcing the separation but before filing for divorce, Christina opened up on Instagram about her shattered relationship.

‘I never thought I would have 2 baby daddies — but sometimes life throws us curveballs,’ she wrote in September.

Despite the ‘setbacks,’ she stayed optimistic and said she would ‘choose to use look at these challenges as opportunities to grow.’

Pivotal period: At the time, a source told People that the marriage began to sour after the couple welcomed their son Hudson, one

Earlier this month, Christina shared a photo of an inspirational tattoo she got inked on her spine amid the divorce.

‘Still I rise,’ it read in cursive, copying the title of a Maya Angelou poem, from her third collection And Still I Rise.

Christina also quoted a portion of the poem in her caption.

In addition to her youngest son, Christina also shares daughter Taylor, 10, and son Braydon, five, with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, whom she was married to until 2018.

Earlier this month, he told Us Weekly that the couple were doing well raising their shared children.

‘We’re coparenting, we’re filming [Flip or Flop], we’re business partners, so things are going better than they’ve been in a long time.’

Tarek, who got engaged to Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young in July, said things were better than ever on Flip Or Flop with his ex-wife.

‘The onscreen chemistry shows and I think this season’s episodes are some of the best we’ve ever done. Who would have thought 10 years later the show is getting better?’

Coparents: In 2018, Christina divorced her first husband Tarek El Moussa, who’s now engaged to Selling Sunset’s Heather Rae Young. The former couple share daughter Taylor, 10, and son Braydon, five

“I think people’s minds are going to explode.”

It’s true: We just can’t get enough WandaVision.

Disney+ / Marvel Studios / courtesy Everett Collection

So far, the first season of Marvel’s trippy sitcom-palooza on Disney+ has been hilarious, intense, and bewildering — and according to Paul Bettany (who plays Vision, if you’ve been living under a Marvel-sized rock), it only gets more wild from here.

During an interview on the Lights Camera Barstool podcast, Bettany teased some details about the upcoming season — especially about what’s going on with all these sitcoms Wanda and Vision are trapped in.

Paul Bettany tells us that #WandaVision’s ending will cause fans to “look at the MCU in a whole new light” and teases intense scenes with a secret actor down the line.

“It’s a complicated answer, but there’s not an arbitrary reason we’re in all these sitcoms,” he said. “There’s a big payoff that you go, ‘Oh, ok, now I get it.’ It’s a satisfying thing.”

Bettany also teased that viewers — MCU fans, especially — will be “massively surprised” by how the show ends: “I really think people are going to be like, ‘Oh my God!’ and they’re going to look at the MCU in a whole new light and also have a much deeper understanding in what direction it’s moving.”

Apparently, there’s one big surprise coming in the form of an actor making a guest appearance — and even though Bettany ain’t spilling on who it is, it sounds like it’ll be a huge deal.

Disney+ / Marvel Studios / courtesy Everett Collection

“So many things get leaked, but there’s this thing that has been completely under wraps that happens and I work with this actor that I’ve always wanted to work with and we have fireworks together,” he explains. “The scenes are great and I think people are going to be really excited. I’ve always wanted to work with this guy and the scenes are pretty intense.”

I suppose we’ll just have to keep on guessing who it may be — that is, until the next episode drops and more of our questions are answered. Hopefully.
