Man arrested after woman’s body found inside box at southwest Houston apartment complex, HPD says

HOUSTON – A man has been detained and charged after a woman’s body was found inside a box in southwest Houston on Sunday, officials from the Houston Police Department said.

According to HPD, they received reports after a maintenance man found a suspicious box with a bad odor in the 7000 block of Bissonnet around 11:58 a.m.

Houston firefighters arrived on the scene first and discovered the body inside the box, authorities said.

“In the surveillance video, you’re able to see a person carrying a U-Haul box on a dolly, and they bring over to here, and they drop it and kind of walk away from the scene,” said HPD Detective Matthew Hughey.

Detectives told KPRC 2 they detained a man who will possibly be charged with the abuse of a corpse.

Police said they are working to determine if he was the person in the video.

“I couldn’t comment on the reason or his motivation as to why he came back to the scene,” Hughey said.
