Where Is Xur Today? (Feb. 4-8) – Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotics Guide

There are only a few visits from Xur left in Destiny 2 before the launch of The Witch Queen, and you’re going to want to visit him to grab some new Exotics and Legendary weapons and armor. Bungie just detailed some huge weapons changes, which are going to make Exotics even more useful with the coming expansion. Here’s where you can find Xur this week and what’s in his inventory.

Head to the EDZ, to the Winding Cove area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering the Telesto fusion rifle. Hunters can pick up the Aeon Swift gauntlets; for Titans, there’s the Aeon Safe gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Phoenix Protocol chest armor.

Now Playing: Destiny 2 Where Is Xur and What is He Selling – February 4, 2022

Phoenix Protocol has been up quite a bit from Xur lately in the Exotics category, but this is still a pretty good roll if you’re a Warlock in need of an upgrade or to fill out your collection. The same is true of Aeon Swift for Hunters–it’s a fun Exotic to run with a fireteam, and has solid stats.

For Legendary weapons, the big standout of Xur’s offering is Tomorrow’s Answer, a rocket launcher normally only accessible from the Trials of Osiris. This isn’t an especially great roll, with Tracking Module, Thresh, and a Reload Masterwork, but if you’re not a PvP player, this is still a great opportunity to snag a Trials gun that can be tough to come by. The rest of Xur’s inventory is just okay, but you might want to pick up his True Prophecy hand cannon, which is still a PvP favorite and comes with Opening Shot, Elemental Capacitor, and a Reload Masterwork.

Xur’s Legendary armor offering is the Gensym Knight set, formerly only available on Io. There’s nothing major to look out for, though, with most of the armor being middling for all players. If you need something, Hunters should pay attention to Xur’s helmet, at a stat level of 63; Warlocks can get a set of boots at 64; and Titans can snag a set of gauntlets at 63.

Xur Location

Find Xur atop the cliff at the north end of Winding Cove in the EDZ.

Spawn in at the Winding Cove transmat zone in the EDZ to get to Xur this week. Hop on your sparrow and head north, moving left to get up on the collapsed overpass there. When you reach the sheer cliff ahead, look for a cave in the wall near the bend in the road. Hop inside and follow it to find Xur at the top of the cliff, where he’s standing next to a crashed Fallen dropship.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic Items

Xur’s weapon offering this week is Telesto, a fan favorite that often is responsible for breaking Destiny 2 with all kinds of weird bugs and glitches. It’s great for PvE or PvP activities, though, thanks to its sticky fusion rifle bolts that explode after a short delay. If you’re not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don’t already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it–so if you’re trying to get a new Titan helmet, don’t buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower’s Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram – 97 legendary shards
  • Telesto – 29 legendary shards
  • Aeon Swift – 23 legendary shards
  • Aeon Safe – 23 legendary shards
  • Phoenix Protocol – 23 legendary shards
  • Xenology quest – free
  • Legendary weapons and armor – 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Alongside changes in his location, Xur’s inventory also rotates weekly. That means it’s worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Telesto (Fusion Rifle)

Telesto triggers all sorts of weird bugs in Destiny 2, but in any event, it's a lot of fun to use.
Telesto triggers all sorts of weird bugs in Destiny 2, but in any event, it’s a lot of fun to use.

You’ll often see Telesto popping up in the Crucible to ruin your day. The fusion rifle fires the usual burst of energy bolts, but unlike with other fusions, these ones stick to their targets–or to walls and floors and anything else. They detonate after a short period of time, making them great for catching packs of enemies (or a couple of Guardians) together in one blast. Land multikills and Telesto will also reload both your equipped Kinetic and Special weapons in your holster. You’ll find plenty of use for Telesto in just about any activity, so add this one to your collection.

Aeon Swift (Hunter)

The Aeon gauntlets work best when you and your fireteam all wear them.
The Aeon gauntlets work best when you and your fireteam all wear them.

The Aeon family of Exotics convey a bunch of benefits to players who wear them, but they’re particularly effective if you equip them alongside other members of your fireteam who also use their brand of Aeon gauntlet. You can set a special mod that conveys benefits both to you and your teammates depending on which you select, and the benefits build up if you all wear Aeon gauntlets with different settings. The Aeon Exotics aren’t exactly meta, but their buffs shouldn’t be ignored, either–they can make your fireteam a more-effective unit. The roll on this version for Hunters is also worth considering.

Aeon Safe (Titan)

Titans get a less-cool version of the Aeon gauntlets this week, but this roll is also more-rounded.

The Titan version of the Aeon Exotic is also on sale with Xur this week, giving you and your buds a chance to deck out in complementary Exotic armor. Titans get a more even roll than Hunters do, but it’s a slightly less-good one. Still, it’s worth checking out how the gauntlets can compliment each other, especially as you prep for the Witch Queen’s new story campaign (and its Legendary difficulty option).

Phoenix Protocol (Warlock)

Phoenix Protocol is a great go-to for Warlocks, especially for high-level PvE content.
Phoenix Protocol is a great go-to for Warlocks, especially for high-level PvE content.

If you don’t have Phoenix Protocol, you should. This is one of the key Warlock Exotics for PvE content, especially some of the tougher activities. It gives you back Super energy whenever you get kills and assists while standing in your Well of Radiance, so you benefit from everyone using your Well and killing enemies. Phoenix Protocol gets you more Wells more often, which can help to keep your team alive in tough situations. This is also a very solid roll on this Exotic, so add it to your collection or upgrade if you need to.
