Black Friday iPhone deals 2022 — get an iPhone 14 Pro for free at Verizon

We’ve been on the hunt for Black Friday iPhone deals, and we present to you our findings below. If you’re looking to upgrade your own phone or the phone of someone else in your life, the deals we have here will help you do so for the least amount of money.

One of our favorite Black Friday deals comes courtesy of Verizon. New customers can get the iPhone 14 Pro for free via trade-in (opens in new tab) and with eligible 5G data plans. Additionally, you’ll get a $200 credit when you switch from a competing carrier.

It’s also worth calling out that the Apple Store will hold its annual Black Friday sale from November 25 through November 28. However, the sale isn’t as great as one would hope. Apple is offering a $50 Apple gift card when you purchase an iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, or iPhone SE 2022. There are no freebies if you want an iPhone 14.

Nevertheless, we’re rounding up the best Black Friday iPhone deals you can shop now. Additionally, make sure to check out our guide to the 10 best Apple Black Friday deals you can get right now. And if you want a different phone for less, take a look at the top Black Friday phone deals too.

Tips for finding the best Black Friday iPhone deals

  • Start with mobile carriers: Mobile carriers tend to offer the best Black Friday iPhone deals. There is one catch — in order to get their best deals, you’ll have to switch to their service. In some instances, you may also have to sign up for an unlimited plan or trade-in an older phone.
  • Trade-in your old phone for credit: If you have an older phone to trade in, many carriers will give you a generous credit that could range from $100 to as high as $1,000 off. As a result, it pays to keep your smartphone’s cables, box, and accessories in good condition so you can get the most from your trade-in.
  • Check out MVNOs: Short for mobile virtual network operator, MVNOs operate on the infrastructure of existing networks. For instance, Verizon-owned Visible works on Verizon’s network, whereas Mint Mobile uses T-Mobile’s network. MVNOs offer less costly plans than their bigger counterparts. In some instances, there are some trade-off such as less readily available customer support or slightly slower data speeds.
  • Don’t be afraid of refurbs: Apple offers some of the best refurbs in the industry. They refurbish their iPhone to look like new and we especially like the company’s refurbs because they’re all backed by the same 1-year warranty you’d get with a new Apple device.

Has Verizon really released stable Android 13 update to the Galaxy S22?

Samsung is currently testing the third One UI 5.0 beta version on the Galaxy S22 series. However, Verizon claims on its website that it has already released the stable Android 13 update to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The carrier even published the complete One UI 5.0 changelog and screenshots of some of the new features. But has it actually released the update?

Well, a Redditor was able to download the update with firmware version S90xUSQS2AVI1, as mentioned on Verizon’s website. However, it’s not Android 13-based One UI 5.0, as claimed by Verizon. The changelog on the carrier’s website also mentions the October 2022 security patch, which Samsung released earlier today. We know that Samsung is currently testing Android 13 on its high-end phones and is yet to release a stable build.

So, it is possible that Verizon has published the wrong changelog by mistake. This also points towards a possibility of an earlier-than-usual release of the next major Android OS update for Samsung’s phones. The company might release the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 stable update to the Galaxy S22 series sometime next month.

Samsung has also been testing Android 13 on the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and the Galaxy A52. All these phones could get the stable Android 13 update within a couple of months.

Razer and Verizon tease a 5G gaming handheld that can play games locally

Razer, Qualcomm and Verizon are working together on a 5G gaming handheld. The carrier teased the Razer Edge 5G at Mobile World Congress Las Vegas. Details on the device are sparse, but what we do know is that it will feature Qualcomm’s . Announced in December, the chipset features an Adreno GPU capable of running Android games at 144 frames per second, with support for 10-bit HDR built-in. Additionally, it offers both 5G and WiFi 6E connectivity courtesy of the company’s FastConnect 6900 system.

At the end of last year, Qualcomm and Razer released a Developer Kit that was designed as a showcase of the G3x’s capabilities. The device featured a 120Hz, 6.65-inch OLED display, four-way speakers and built-in controls. If we had to take a guess, the Razer Edge 5G will hew closely to that prototype. In the teaser it shared today, Razer showed off enough of the Edge 5G to reveal it will feature a design that’s a tad more refined than the last Razer device to bear Edge branding.

According to Verizon, the Android handheld can play games locally, in addition to streaming them from the cloud and consoles. That puts the Razer Edge 5G in an interesting spot between and . The former is a dedicated cloud gaming device and costs $350, a hefty price for its limited capabilities. The Steam Deck is more expensive but can run games like Elden Ring, Stray and Hades natively. And if you already own those titles on Steam, you don’t have to pay for them again. What the Steam Deck doesn’t have is 5G connectivity, and that’s something that could make the Razer Edge 5G an interesting option when it’s released. Razer, Qualcomm and Verizon promised to share more information about their collaboration on October 15th at .

iPhone 14 delivery dates Apple, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and more

Although the iPhone 14 has now launched, getting one in your hands may prove difficult.

It’s no surprise that Apple’s latest smartphone is proving to be a big seller. What’s perhaps surprising is how demand is outstripping Apple’s ability to send you one, particularly if you want an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.

If you’ve not placed your iPhone 14 order yet, and are wondering just when you can expect an iPhone to drop through your letterbox, we’ve collected the latest shipping data from Apple’s own website here.

That way you can figure out when it’s best to stay at home in case of delivery, or if it will make it in time for an important date like someone’s birthday or your next holiday.

As it stands, it looks like pretty much every version of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is now on backorder until October or early November. It doesn’t matter which color you pick, or how much storage you spec, you’re going to be waiting at least a month for a new Pro iPhone, and perhaps as long as six weeks if you want the bigger iPhone 14 Pro Max variant.

iPhone 14 delivery date: Apple Store

Model Estimated delivery date (U.S.) Estimated delivery date (U.K.)
iPhone 14 September 27 September 27
iPhone 14 Plus October 7 October 7
iPhone 14 Pro October 19-26 October 18 – 25
iPhone 14 Pro Max October 26- November 2 October 25 – November 1

The good news is that ordering the regular iPhone 14 won’t be an issue. You can order one now and have it arrive on Tuesday, or today if you’re willing to pay extra postage.

The iPhone 14 Plus isn’t due out until October 7 and it seems that pre-orders are currently within Apple’s expectations, since those are set to ship out the same day. This may change as the 7th approaches, so if you’re determined to get a Plus, you may want to order now.

However, we recommend reading our iPhone 14 Plus hands-on review or even wait until our full review comes in before hitting buy, so you’re well informed about the phone’s strength and weaknesses.

Meanwhile, the Pro models will keep you waiting until the end of October if you buy one now. That’s actually good news though, as Apple has previously estimated delivery by mid-November for the Pro Max.

iPhone 14 delivery date: AT&T

Model Earliest estimated U.S. delivery date (color/storage)
iPhone 14 September 28 – 29
iPhone 14 Plus October 14 – 21
iPhone 14 Pro October 11- 18
iPhone 14 Pro Max October 18 – 25

The iPhone 14 delivery times from AT&T are generally faster than Apple, as you can get the regular iPhone 14 within a couple of days.

There’s a longer wait for the iPhone 14 Pro (one week longer for colors other than Space Black though), and the longest wait is for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which may not arrive until late October, or even later if you want the most in-demand Silver color. You may be able to shave a week off of the expected delivery date by speccing more storage though.

Note that you can also save up to $1,000 on the iPhone 14 via trade-in through AT&T (opens in new tab)

iPhone 14 delivery date: T-Mobile

Model Earliest estimated U.S. delivery date (color/storage)
iPhone 14 September 26 – 29
iPhone 14 Plus October 8-13
iPhone 14 Pro Backorder (September 27-30)
iPhone 14 Pro Max Backorder (October 13 – 27)

If you want the iPhone 14 Pro Max from T-Mobile before the holidays, you might want to hurry. The earliest that it promises your iPhone would arrive is mid-October, but the Silver model and Deep Purple models will take another five days on top, presumably due to high demand.

Annoyingly for users looking for a T-Mo-powered iPhone 14 Plus, two of the available colors’ shipping dates have already slipped to late October. So watch out if you want a Starlight or Product RED phone.

The iPhone 14 Pro says that it’s back ordered too, with the Silver model longer to arrive (October 10 – 24) out of all the standard 128GB versions. Meanwhile the regular iPhone 14 is ready to go right now, with shipping expected to take between one to four days.

T-Mobile has multiple iPhone 14 deals, including up to $800 off with trade-in and signing up for a Magenta Max plan. That’s basically getting an iPhone 14 for free.

iPhone 14 delivery date: Verizon

Model Earliest estimated U.S. delivery date (color/storage)
iPhone 14 In two days
iPhone 14 Plus October 7
iPhone 14 Pro October 7
iPhone 14 Pro Max October 21

As with most carriers and retailers, you’ll have no problem getting a regular iPhone 14 right away through Verizon, who’ll have one sent out to you within two days. Likewise with most iPhone 14 Plus models – they’ll arrive on launch day, unless you go for Product RED or Starlight colors, which seem to be more in demand and therefore arrive a week later.

The iPhone 14 Pro has a bit of a delay with October 7 as the delivery date (October 14 for the Deep Purple version, and October 28 in the case of the Silver version), but buying higher storage capacity versions can reduce that wait, with immediate shipping available in some cases.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is estimated to arrive by October 21. But at least you can pick any color you like without changing that estimate.

Verizon’s iPhone 14 deals (opens in new tab) include saving up to $800 with you trade in your old phone with select unlimited plans.

iPhone 14 delivery date: Best Buy

Model Estimated U.S. delivery date
iPhone 14 Tomorrow
iPhone 14 Plus October 7
iPhone 14 Pro September 28
iPhone 14 Pro Max Tomorrow

Shipping dates from Best Buy are a little mixed-up, but they at least seem more optimistic than Apple’s.

For the iPhone 14 at Best Buy (opens in new tab) you can get it in any color by tomorrow. You can even pick one up in certain locations within the hour if you wish, Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Plus isn’t on sale anywhere yet, so Best Buy lists its shipping and pick-up dates for release day (October 7).

You can still get an iPhone 14 Pro model by tomorrow if you’re happy to have it in Gold. If you’re after Deep Purple or Space Black, that will take longer though, as they’re due to arrive by September 28; while picking Silver means you’ll be waiting until October 14.

The estimated delivery for most Pro Max models is October 14. However, some can arrive as sooner, provided you’re buying more than the 128GB base storage. For those models, you’ll be waiting until at least October 14th according to Best Buy’s store page.

iPhone 14 delivery date: Walmart

Model Earliest estimated U.S. delivery date
iPhone 14 September 29
iPhone 14 Plus October 14
iPhone 14 Pro September 29
iPhone 14 Pro Max September 29

Walmart’s selection of iPhone 14 (opens in new tab) models is holding up well in most cases. You can get a base iPhone 14 by September 29, unless you want it in Purple or Starlight, in which case you’ll need to wait another couple of days. The iPhone 14 Plus isn’t out yet, so you’ll be waiting until October 14 for one of those to arrive.

The iPhone 14 Pro can be yours from September 29, or October 3 if you want the Silver one.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max will arrive by September 29 as well if you want it in Space Black. The Gold and Deep Purple versions arrive a bit later on October 3 while the Silver model is currently sold out in its standard 128GB guise. The only available capacity for silver is 512GB, which has an October 3 shipping estimate.

iPhone 14 delivery date: is it worth the wait?

We like all three of the iPhone 14 models we’ve reviewed so far, although in slightly different ways. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models are definitely the ones to get if you can afford them, because they feature all of Apple’s latest upgrades like an always-on display, Dynamic Island cutout and a 48MP main camera.

The iPhone 14 is more like an improved iPhone 13 rather than a whole new phone, but is still worth an upgrade if your current phone’s a couple of years old.

If you’re looking for more power, the new 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max sport Apple’s new A16 Bionic chipset. They start at $999 and $1,099, respectively. And iPhone 14 pre-orders are now live, so if you want to avoid a long wait for Apple’s next-gen smartphones we suggest you get in an order today.

But if you’re in no hurry and want a deal with a carrier link to it then we’ve got you covered. For example, Verizon has launched its One Unlimited for iPhone plan, which bundles an Apple One subscription with your monthly data plan and can save you as much as $480 per year.

Other iPhone 14 deals require that you trade-in your old iPhone or upgrade to select 5G unlimited plans  to unlock savings. For instance, Verizon phone deals and AT&T phone deals will knock at least $800 off each phone if you purchase your new device under an installment plan.

Verizon Stock Set for Worst Week Since 2008. Time to Buy?

Yesterday it was AT&T  (T) – Get AT&T Inc. Report; today it’s Verizon  (VZ) – Get Verizon Communications Inc. Report

The stocks of the country’s two largest telecom companies are uncharacteristically volatile as they report second-quarter earnings.

On Thursday, Verizon shares fell 2.9% in sympathy with AT&T’s earnings selloff. While AT&T beat on earnings expectations, its full-year free cash flow guidance disappointed investors after a trim to $14 billion from $16 billion.

This morning, Verizon delivered its own disappointment as well. The shares are down more than 7% on the report, as earnings missed expectations and the company cut its profit outlook.

For what it’s worth, Verizon stock also fell 1.5% on Monday and 2.75% on Wednesday. Now Verizon stock is down for the fourth session in the past five and off about 14% this week — double its worst weekly performance from March 2020.

This will also mark the stock’s largest one-week decline since October 2008.

But don’t fret, bulls: Support may not be too far off.

Trading Verizon Stock

Daily chart of Verizon stock.

Chart courtesy of TrendSpider.com

Verizon stock this morning looked as if it presented an opportunity, particularly if it had opened below the $45.55 level. That was the May low and the 2022 low so far this year.

Scroll to Continue

Had Verizon stock broken below or opened below this level and reclaimed it, the bulls could get long at reasonable risk.

Instead, it continued lower.

On the plus side, Verizon is now trading down into the 200-month moving average. This measure has not been tested since 2015, but at the time it was very strong support.

I want to see Verizon hold above the $44 level. If Verizon can do that and bounce from the 200-week moving average, a move back up through $45.50 could be attractive to the bulls.

That could open the door to the 10-day moving average as its first test of active resistance. Ultimately, it could put two gap fill levels in play, at $46.68 and $49.

But make no mistake on the chart: This is not a good look.

There isn’t any bullish divergence on the RSI reading and Verizon stock is free-falling its way down to new 2022 lows.

If it can find its footing, great. But just like Snap  (SNAP) – Get Snap Inc. Class A Report, the charts are a bit broken right now, although Verizon looks much better than Snap and has a near-6% yield to boot. (And don’t forget, Verizon has now increased its dividend payment for 15 years in a row.)

If Verizon can hold the $44 level and 200-month moving average, the bulls may find something constructive to work with. Otherwise, let’s give this one some more time.
