Advance Wars’ Delayed Switch Release Might Finally Be Reporting For Duty

Image: Nintendo Life

One game we’re hoping to see show up on the Switch at some point this year is Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. The last update for this title was featured in a Nintendo financial report last November – revealing the game’s release date was still “TBA”.

Now, in the latest development, a thread on Famiboards has apparently highlighted changes to the game’s eShop web page – with “new NSUID attached”. As explained in the same post, a new NSUID means “pre-orders will be going live at some point in the future”.

In addition to this development, it seems more online listings have now resurfaced for Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp. This supposedly includes new and updated listings on Amazon Mexico and Canada, Walmart, Best Buy and EB Games (thanks, My Nintendo News).

As you might recall, Advance Wars for Switch suffered multiple delays and was then pushed back (again) last March due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Apart from the recent financial report referencing the title, a Nintendo representative also reconfirmed last September the two-in-one game had only been “delayed”, not axed.

It’s pretty clear the Switch version is ready to go as well – with a Switch fan in April last year gaining early access to the title by accident. Nintendo ended up cancelling the purchase and providing a refund.

Atlus Releases Strict Streaming Guidelines For Persona 3 Portable & Persona 4 Golden

Image: Atlus / SEGA

As popular as streaming is nowadays, a number of companies enforce a certain set of rules when it comes to new-release games. The Japanese company Atlus is one that’s done this time and time again with games like 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Persona 5 Royal, and now it’s released its guidelines for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. This information comes from the company’s Japanese website, so the rules may be slightly different here in the west.

Despite being enhanced re-releases from 2009 and 2012, it’s still asking streamers to be courteous of viewers by placing spoiler warnings in their stream. One example (as highlighted by Siliconera) is to insert a spoiler alert when streaming Persona 4 Golden’s culprit’s dungeon. Anyone streaming or uploading video footage of these returning games is also asked to make sure they feature the Atlus and Sega copyright.

For anyone who wants to make revenue off the videos, they’ll need to make sure they go through a partnership program, like the YouTube one. Users are also forbidden from streaming or putting video footage of these games behind a paywall, and videos exclusively focused on the background music is not allowed.

And if that wasn’t enough – Atlus doesn’t want to see users uploading videos showing content like mods or cheats for the games, or anything it else deems offensive. And if you’re told to take down a video, you’ve got to do it right away. Yikes!

Right, got all that? We hope you do! Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden arrive on Switch next week.

Zelda amiibo Listings Surface Online Ahead Of Tears Of The Kingdom Release

Image: Nintendo Life / Zion Grassl

Nintendo is launching The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in May of this year and it seems like there could also be a Zelda amiibo restock taking place ahead of this game’s release.

New pre-order listings for Nintendo’s existing Zelda amiibo line have surfaced on French e-commerce site fnac. According to the same listing, these amiibo will be re-released in France next month. Here’s the rundown of the possible restocks (via Nintendo Wire):

– Majora’s Mask Link
– Wolf Link
– Rider Link
– Archer Link
– Ocarina of Time Link
– Twilight Princess Link
– Pixel Link
– Guardian
– Wind Waker Link
– Skyward Sword Link
– Zelda – BoTW Version
– Zelda – Toon
– Bokoblin
– Zelda – Smash Bros.

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, amiibo allowed the player to unlock special items and extra goodies on a daily basis. There’s been no mention of amiibo support just yet for Tears of the Kingdom, but if it was included, it wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise.

Nintendo is known to restock amiibo ahead of major game releases. Most recently, it restocked older Fire Emblem amiibo ahead of the Fire Emblem Engage launch later this month. This game will also include amiibo support. The Japanese company also did the same thing with the Splatoon line before the arrival of Splatoon 3 last year (another title to feature amiibo support).

Two New Side-Scrolling Action Platformers Are Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2023

Image: PID Games

Publisher PID Games has today announced its plans to bring two new action-platformers to the Nintendo Switch and multiple other systems in 2023.

First up we’ve got Gravity Circuit by Domesticated Ant Games – a “flashy” action packed 2D platformer drawing inspiration from the classics of yesteryear. Players take control of a hero named Kai – who is the world’s last line of defense. Some key features include a slew of combos and moves, new power-ups to unlock, and a single-player campaign with 12 stages.

Next up is Elypse by Hot Chili Games. We’re kind of getting Hollow Knight vibes with the character design and artwork. In this one, players are sent into the Abyss – “a place worshipped as it is feared” and are tasked with escaping. The game combines platforming and action across an environment filled with traps and dangers. Along the way there are skills and abilities to unlock, and a lot to explore.

Both of these titles will be arriving at some point in 2023 on the Nintendo Switch. What are your first impressions? Leave a comment down below.

Ys X: Nordics Announced For Nintendo Switch, Launching In 2023

Image: Nihon Falcom Corporation

We’ve got some breaking news to share with action RPG fans. At Falcom’s annual meeting of shareholders today, the company announced Ys X: Nordics would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in Japan next year (thanks, Gematsu).

Ys X: Nordics will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series. It takes place in the northern sea Obelia Bay, made up of countless islands “big and small”, and stars the young adventurer Adol Christin as the game’s protagonist. Here’s some additional PR:

After completing his adventures in the Ancient Kingdom of Ys, young adventurer Adol Christin encounters a maritime people known as “Normans” in this new land. Who are they? And who are the “Griegers,” immortal undead who attack humans…?

The battle system used up until Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has been drastically revamped! The new “Cross Action” system allows the player to fight using two modes according the situation. In the speedy “Solo Mode,” the player controls one character with the help of automatic attacks and support from their partner. In “Combination Mode,” the player can simultaneously control a series of actions for both characters to take on formidable foes in back-and-forth combat.

Additionally, Ys X: Nordics allows you to control a ship for the first time in the series. Explore vast oceans using sea maps as your guide and engage in naval battles against enemy ships in this new feature that adds to “the joy of adventure” that the series is known for. Other new systems include the special ability “Mana Action,” which significantly expands the degree of freedom on fields and in dungeons.

Image: Nihon Falcom Corporation

Along with this announcement, Falcom also announced it was working on a HD remaster of Ys: The Oath in Felghana. It will be officially titled Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana and launches on Switch next Spring in Japan.

This definitive edition of the 2010 PSP title will come with voiceovers for the protagonist and event scenes in the game, remastered graphics and sound, the ability to swap between visuals (classic and refined), multiple sound settings, a high-speed mode and beginning friendly features.

The Ys series originally started out life in the late 80s with the first game and since then has received a number of follow-ups. The most recent entry in the series Ys IX: Monstrum Nox launched on the Switch in July last year. Check out our review:

Ender Lilies Dev Announces Redemption Reapers, A New “Dark Fantasy Tactical RPG” Coming Early 2023

If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs, you’ll want to make note of Redemption Reapers, coming to the Switch in February 2023.

This dark fantasy tactical RPG developed by Adglobe and Binary Haze Interactive (ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights) is being brought to life by industry luminaries such as Masayuki Horikawa – known for working on the Fire Emblem series as a director and scenario/level designer, and also Kingdom Hearts III planning.

Here’s a bit about the story, and what to expect from the gameplay, courtesy of the PR:

Hope fades across the land following the sudden appearance of the ruthless Mort armies. Efficient as they are brutal, the macabre forces descend upon civilizations, leaving destruction in the wake of their nightly raids. As entire nations fall to the Mort onslaught, the Ashen Hawk Brigade, a contingent of mercenaries specializing in surprise tactics, band together to fight back against the invading legions.

Lead the Ashen Hawk Brigade in tactical skirmishes on 3D maps. Employ strategic moves, directing units across the battlefield before issuing commands to attack, defend, or deploy skills during each turn. Overcome seemingly insurmountable odds by mastering sneak attacks for extra damage or powerful combo strikes from multiple Brigade members.

Ensure each Brigade member is fit for the trials ahead by outfitting the party with powerful gear. Turn hard-earned spoils of victory into resources for crafting mighty weapons and armor. Upgrade skills to unlock combat abilities capable of turning a ragtag troop of underdogs into courageous champions.

Carve through the Mort and uncover a gripping, mature story of wartime struggles. Witness powerful moments unfold between members of the Brigade during fully voiced cutscenes (recorded in English and Japanese audio) as fighters learn more about their allies and the world around them. Guide the Ashen Hawk Brigade’s rise from obscurity to folk heroes as members grapple with their dark past as a deadly – and despised – organization dubbed “Faithless Reapers.”

It will also feature a “star-studded” voice cast including Kyle McCarley, Allegra Clark, David Lodge and Lucien Dodge. These folks have contributed to series such as 13 Sentinels, NieR: Automata, Dragon Age, Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV, Fire Emblem and the Trails series.
