Nas’ Calabasas Home Robbed, Thieves Took 2 Bags Full Of Unknown Items – HotNewHipHop

Nas’ weekend started off on a high note thanks to the arrival of his King’s Disease III album in collaboration with Hit-Boy. However, that joy was short-lived as on Saturday (November 12), his Calabasas home was robbed by two thieves.

Law enforcement sources broke the news to TMZ, revealing that the break-in took place about 8:30 PM PT last night. It’s been noted that the criminals seemingly smashed a rear door, allowing them entry into the rapper’s luxury home.

Nas’ team realized something was happening thanks to a Ring camera installed on the property. As they were leaving, the “Hood2Hood” artist’s crew caught sight of them and promptly called the police to the scene.

The robbers were long gone when cops arrived at the prolific lyricist’s home. Luckily, he wasn’t home. Rather, Nas was across the country in New York City, partying it up to celebrate the arrival of KD3.

Currently, it remains unknown exactly what the thieves took, or how much it was worth. All that’s been confirmed is that the 49-year-old’s place was torn apart, and approximately two bags worth of stuff is missing.

Since he’s still out of town, investigators must wait for Nas to return and do a proper inventory of the items that were stolen. No arrests have been made at this time by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

While this has surely put a damper on his otherwise exciting weekend, the Illmatic artist still has a lot to celebrate. Several songs from King’s Disease III have been making headlines, whether for praising Kendrick Lamar or shading Pete Rock.

In other news, Nas and Hit-Boy’s new album got plenty of love on our weekly Fire Emoji update. Stream that exclusively on Spotify here, and check out HNHH later for more celebrity news updates.

Chipotle’s water cup candle pokes fun at lemonade thieves

The burrito chain has released a candle in honor of National Lemonade Day, which fell on Saturday this year, according to a news release. The candle pokes fun at customers’ habit of sneaking some free juice by “accidentally” filling a free water cup with lemonade instead.

The cheeky limited-edition soy candle is designed to look exactly like a Chipotle water cup and is lemonade-scented, the release explained.

And a bonus for lemonade lovers: Each candle comes with a promo code you can redeem for free lemonade at your local Chipotle.

Chipotle superfans can purchase a candle for $28 on the company’s merchandise website while supplies last.

The brand has acknowledged the lemonade trick before, tweeting, “in this house we love and appreciate people who don’t put lemonade in their water cups” in 2018.

For Chipotle, it seems the real goal of playing into the water cup meme isn’t to cut down on lemonade theft so much as to connect with fans.

“Social is the premier destination for us to listen to and engage with our superfans,” said Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s chief marketing officer, in the release. “When they see these lighthearted tributes to social chatter and fan behavior, they feel even more connected to Chipotle.”

TikTok challenge: Video shows Lakewood man fall victim to social media trend that teaches thieves to steal Hyundai, Kia cars

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Brad Crihfield of Lakewood is trying to wrap his head around what happened outside his home last Monday.

“It’s confusing to think that that can just happen, and it happened so casually that you don’t really turn your head and really notice it,” he said.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. His home surveillance camera captured a man forcing the door to his 2012 Hyundai Tucson open and getting inside.

“So he got in within 30 seconds and then took off right because the Ring (video) also picks up my wife walking by the now empty driveway within three minutes after the fact,” Crihfield said.

He does not know why he was targeted, but authorities across the country are investigating a rise in Hyundai and Kia car thefts.

They’re warning car owners of a new TikTok challenge, which encourages people to break into these cars.

The videos allegedly teach them how to jumpstart the car using a USB cable.

“The scary part is that, as far as I can tell, this started from a TikTok challenge, which shows the power of influence that social media can have especially on young folks,” Crihfield said.

In a statement, a Hyundai spokesperson said:

Hyundai Motor America is concerned with the rise in local auto thefts. The safety and well-being of our customers and the community is and will remain our top priority. These vehicles meet or exceed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and engine immobilizers are standard equipment on all new Hyundai vehicles.

James Bell, a Kia spokesperson, said vehicles that are turned on with a steel key are being targeted.

“Kia America is aware of the rise in vehicle thefts of a subset of trim level vehicles. All 2022 models and trims have an immobilizer applied either at the beginning of the year or as a running change. All Kia vehicles for sale in the U.S. meet or exceed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards,” Bell said.

Crihfield is not holding out hope that he’ll get his car back anytime soon.

He just hopes no one else falls victim to this alleged TikTok challenge.

“The sad part is explaining to your kids, I have a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old, explaining to them where dad’s car is,” he said.

Also, Crihfield said his car is replaceable and he’s just happy no one was hurt during this incident.

He said he has filed a report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Thieves steal at least 20 whole briskets worth thousands of dollars from famous Texas barbecue restaurant

Every time I go to Texas, I stop for authentic barbecue.Shutterstock

  • Thieves stole briskets worth thousands of dollars from a famous Austin restaurant, KVUE reported.

  • La Barbecue said the thief was filmed jumping a fence before loading the meat into an SUV.

  • Briskets at the restaurant, which said it has been broken into five times, are worth about $180.

Thieves broke into a famous Texas barbecue restaurant and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of beef briskets, according to local reports.

Austin’s KVUE reported that a thief broke into la Barbecue at 4am Thursday local time, jumping over the side fence, cutting off the barbecue pit locks and loading more than 20 whole briskets into an SUV before driving off.

Each brisket was worth $180, according to reports, meaning at least $3,500 worth of brisket appears to have been stolen.

On its Instagram page, the restaurant wrote: “It happened again!!! This time this guy took 20 briskets that were prepped and cold smoking on our pits overnight. I am so sick of this!! Does anyone recognize this guy or car?”

This was the fifth break-in at its Austin site since opening a decade ago, the restaurant told KVUE. It is appealing to anyone with information to call local police.

According to a report by MySA, brisket is more expensive than ever amid rising production costs and soaring demand among amateur pitmasters across the US. High price rises appear to have made the delicacy more attractive to thieves.

Indeed, one of the ramifications of rising inflation is likely to be more crime, with a criminologist telling Insider that Americans could expect more theft, burglaries, and even homicide as a result of soaring prices.

La Barbecue was founded in 2012 in Austin by Leann Mueller after parting ways with legendary pitmaster John after a spat, according to Texas Monthly. The joint regularly appears on lists of essential barbecue restaurants in the city published by the likes of Conde Nast Traveler and Eater.
