Solomon Peña: Failed GOP candidate arrested on suspicion of orchestrating shootings at homes of Democrats in New Mexico, police say

CNN
 —

A Republican former candidate for New Mexico’s legislature who police say claimed election fraud after his defeat has been arrested on suspicion of orchestrating recent shootings that damaged homes of Democratic elected leaders in the state, police said.

Solomon Peña, who lost his 2022 run for state House District 14, was arrested Monday by Albuquerque police, accused of paying and conspiring with four men to shoot at the homes of two state legislators and two county commissioners, authorities said.

“It is believed he is the mastermind” behind the shootings that happened in December and early January, Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said in a news conference.

CNN has reached out to Peña’s campaign website for comment and has been unable to identify his attorney.

Before the shootings, Peña in November – after losing the election – had approached one of the legislators and some county commissioners at their homes with paperwork that he said indicated fraud was involved in the elections, police said.

An investigation confirmed “these shootings were indeed politically motivated,” Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said Monday.

“At the end of the day, this was about a right-wing radical, an election denier who was arrested today and someone who did the worst imaginable thing you can do when you have a political disagreement, which is turn that to violence,” said Keller, a Democrat. “We know we don’t always agree with our elected officials, but that should never, ever lead to violence.”

The stewing of doubt about election veracity, principally among Republicans and usually without proof, has exploded nationwide since then-President Donald Trump lost his reelection bid and began propagating falsehoods the 2020 presidential election was stolen. The claims have stoked anger – and unapologetic threats of violence – against public officials down to the local level.

Peña will face charges related to four shootings: a December 4 incident at the home of Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa; a December 8 shooting at the home of incoming state House Speaker Javier Martinez; a December 11 shooting at the home of then-Bernalillo Commissioner Debbie O’Malley; and a January 3 shooting at the home of state Sen. Linda Lopez, police said in a news release.

In the latest shooting, police found evidence “Peña himself went on this shooting and actually pulled the trigger on at least one of the firearms that was used,” Albuquerque police Deputy Cmdr. Kyle Hartsock said. But an AR handgun he tried to use malfunctioned, and more than a dozen rounds were fired by another shooter from a separate handgun, a police news release reads.

The department is still investigating whether those suspected of carrying out the shootings were “even aware of who these targets were or if they were just conducting shootings,” Hartsock added.

“Nobody was injured in the shootings, which resulted in damage to four homes,” an Albuquerque police news release said.

Barboa, whose home investigators say was the site of the first shooting, is grateful for an arrest in the case, she told “CNN This Morning” on Tuesday.

“I’m relieved to hear that people won’t be targeted in this way by him any longer,” she said.

During the fall campaign, Peña’s opponent, Democratic state Rep. Miguel Garcia, sued to have Peña removed from the ballot, arguing Peña’s status as an ex-felon should prevent him from being able to run for public office in the state, CNN affiliate KOAT reported. Peña served nearly seven years in prison after a 2008 conviction for stealing a large volume of goods in a “smash and grab scheme,” the KOAT report said.

“You can’t hide from your own history,” Peña told the outlet in September. “I had nothing more than a desire to improve my lot in life.”

A district court judge ruled Peña was allowed to run in the election, according to KOAT. He lost his race to Garcia, 26% to 74%, yet a week later tweeted that he “never conceded” the race and was researching his options.

“After the election in November, Solomon Peña reached out and contracted someone for an amount of cash money to commit at least two of these shootings. The addresses of the shootings were communicated over phone,” Hartsock said Monday, citing the investigation. “Within hours, in one case, the shooting took place at the lawmaker’s home.”

Firearm evidence, surveillance video, cell phone and electronic records and witnesses in and around the conspiracy aided the investigation and helped officials connect five people to this conspiracy, Hartsock said.

Detectives served search warrants Monday at Peña’s apartment and the home of two men allegedly paid by Peña, police said in the news release, adding Peña did not speak with detectives.

Officers arrested Peña on suspicion of “helping orchestrate and participate in these four shootings, either at his request or he conducted them personally, himself,” Hartsock added.

Police last week announced they had a suspect in custody and had obtained a firearm connected to one of the shootings at the homes of elected officials. A car driven at one of the shooting scenes was registered to Peña, the department said.

Authorities had earlier said they were investigating two other reports of gunfire since December – near the campaign office of the state attorney general, and near a law office of a state senator. Detectives no longer believe those two incidents are connected to the other four, police said Monday.

O’Malley, the then-county commissioner whose home police say was shot at in December, is pleased an arrest has been made, she said.

“I am very relieved – and so is my family. I’m very appreciative of the work the police did,” O’Malley told CNN on Monday evening. O’Malley and her husband had been sleeping on December 11 when more than a dozen shots were fired at her home in Albuquerque, she said.

Barboa discovered the gunshots at her home after returning from Christmas shopping, she said.

“It was terrifying. My house had four shots through the front door and windows, where just hours before my grandbaby and I were playing in the living room,” Barboa said in a statement. “Processing this attack continues to be incredibly heavy, especially knowing that other women and people of color elected officials, with children and grandbabies, were targeted.”

Martinez, the incoming state House speaker whose home also was shot at, is grateful a suspect is in custody, he told CNN in a statement. “We have seen far too much political violence lately and all of these events are powerful reminders that stirring up fear, heightening tensions, and stoking hatred can have devastating consequences,” he said.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misspelled Debbie O’Malley’s first name.

Wealthy Russian businessman arrested in London on suspicion of multiple offenses, including money laundering

CNN
 —

A wealthy Russian businessman has been arrested as part of a “major operation” on suspicion of multiple offenses, the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency said in a statement Saturday.

The 58-year-old man was arrested Thursday at his “multi-million-pound residence in London by officers from the NCA’s Combatting Kleptocracy Cell” on suspicion of committing offenses including money laundering, conspiracy to defraud the Home Office – the UK government department for immigration and passports – and conspiracy to commit perjury, the agency said.

A 35-year-old man, employed at the premises, was also arrested “nearby” on suspicion of money laundering and obstruction of an officer “after he was seen leaving the address with a bag found to contain thousands of pounds in cash,” according to the statement.

A third man, aged 39, who the agency said is the former boyfriend of the businessman’s current partner, was arrested at his home in Pimlico, London, for offenses including money laundering and conspiracy to defraud, according to the statement.

A person close to the investigation has given CNN more detail on two of the men arrested, saying the 39-year-old man was a national of Russia, Israel, and the UK and the 35-year-old man was a Polish national. The source told CNN the bank notes the 35-year-old was carrying have not yet been counted but were suspected to be in the tens of thousands and in British currency.

The three individuals have been interviewed by authorities and have been released on bail, according to the statement.

The Russian Embassy in London has sent a note to British authorities regarding the detention of a Russian citizen, according to a statement from the embassy made available to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

“The Russian Embassy in London has asked the British authorities for clarification in connection with the information from the National Crime Agency about the alleged detention of a Russian citizen in London,” reads the note, according to RIA Novosti.

“The NCA’s Combatting Kleptocracy Cell, only established this year, is having significant success investigating potential criminal activity by oligarchs, the professional service providers that support and enable them and those linked to the Russian regime,” said the agency’s director general Graeme Biggar.

“We will continue to use all the powers and tactics available to us to disrupt this threat,” he added.

More than 50 officers were involved in the operation at the businessman’s London property, the statement said. “A number of digital devices and a significant quantity of cash was recovered following extensive searches by NCA investigators,” according to the statement.

So far, the agency says it has secured nearly 100 disruptions “against Putin-linked elites and their enablers” and has taken direct action against “a significant number of elites who impact directly on the UK.”

The agency is also targeting “less conventional routes used to disguise movements of significant wealth, such as high value asset sales via auction houses,” according to the statement.

Suspicion swirls over Russia’s plans for Belarus after minister’s death

Comment

RIGA, Latvia — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with his security ministers on Thursday, days after the sudden death of the country’s longtime foreign minister, and he warned of attacks from external enemies: NATO, Ukraine and even exiled Belarusians fighting in Ukraine against Russia.

Lukashenko said those fighters-in-exile could try to seize power by force.

The Belarusian dictator, who has been in power since 1994, is known for unfurling alarmist, far-fetched baseless claims. His latest warning comes amid swirling rumors of plots and intrigue, many dismissed by analysts as unlikely, following the unexpected death last weekend of Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, a close ally and confidant of Lukashenko’s.

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin warned on Thursday that anti-Lukashenko Belarusian regiments fighting for Kyiv had serious combat experience and could be used to seize power in Minsk.

“Ukraine, under any pretext, is most likely trying to draw the troops of NATO member states into the conflict,” Lukashenko said, according to Belarusian state media, Without evidence, he also warned of increasing “provocations” on the border.

Ukraine has consistently denied Lukashenko’s accusations of any plan to attack and is building defensive trenches and a fence along the border.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei dies ‘suddenly,’ state says

“Increasing calls are made by the fugitive opposition, our bandits, to seize power by force and commit terrorist acts on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko said, calling them “not just traitors, but extremists. They do not hesitate to call for strikes against targets on the territory of our country.”

In fact, Lukashenko might have cause for paranoia these days, but not necessarily for the reasons he cites.

Dependent on Moscow for promises of security support after protests that began in 2020 nearly tipped him out of office, Lukashenko allowed his country to be used as a staging ground for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Belarus has served as a base for Russia to launch attacks, to provide medical care for wounded soldiers and, more recently, to train thousands of newly conscripted Russian troops.

But Lukashenko has irritated Moscow by refusing to send his military forces into Ukraine to bolster Putin’s depleted army there. Such a move would be deeply unpopular in Belarus and potentially stir new protests.

Lukashenko’s choices are narrowing as the war drags on. He is under pressure from Russia for increased military commitments while also sanctioned by the West for his role in enabling the invasion of Ukraine, as well as for his brutal crackdown on opposition activists since his fraudulent 2020 reelection. Nearly 1,500 members of the opposition are now imprisoned.

Makei’s death, meanwhile, means there is one less pragmatic, rational voice in Lukashenko’s ear, advocating maximum independence from Moscow, without risking a Ukrainian-style invasion.

Lukashenko placed red roses at Makei’s coffin before his burial Tuesday and briefly touched the dead man’s arm, gazing at him for a few moments, dry-eyed, before condoling with Makei’s family.

Makei, a wily regime loyalist, had appeared to be in good health before he died at home on Saturday, aged 64. His death provoking a blizzard of speculation that he might have been clandestinely killed by Russia, with myriad competing theories on motive.

But mundane explanations may be more likely. Liberal media outlet Nasha Niva reported that Makei died of a heart attack after failing to seek medical assistance.

Mistaken by some as a pro-Western figure, Makei was a former Soviet military intelligence colonel who sought to maximize authoritarian power in Belarus and preserve the stability of the regime, according to analyst Artyom Shraibman of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

“What everyone should understand about Makei is that for him, loyalty to Lukashenko is paramount and the stability of the regime is paramount,” Shraibman said.

Setbacks in Ukraine war diminish Russia’s clout with regional allies

Makei was also one of the few Belarusian officials capable of communicating with Western officials and who could explain Minsk’s view that Belarus must always account for a threat from Moscow, he said.

“He was in a very unique position of being very close to Lukashenko and trusted by Lukashenko since the beginning of the century but also having connections with the West and an ability to talk to the West,” Shraibman said. “He was a perfect amplifier of signals from Lukashenko to the West and from the West to Lukashenko.”

Speaking to journalists last week at a meeting of the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization, Lukashenko warned Ukraine to stop fighting or face “total destruction.”

He has repeatedly accused Ukraine and the West of plotting to attack Belarus, with no evidence. By emphasizing the supposed threat to Belarus, he creates a justification not to send his army to Ukraine.

Last year, Lukashenko claimed, without evidence, to be the target of a U.S.-led assassination plot.

In resisting Moscow’s demands, Lukashenko presumably recognizes that his small, untested army of 45,000 troops would be likely to see heavy losses if sent to fight Ukraine’s battle-hardened military.

Makei, formerly head of Lukashenko’s administration, had long been a firm voice within the regime in favor of resisting Russian military and political dominance, Shraibman said.

“He was always in favor of an authoritarian regime conducting itself smarter, engaging some of its critics,” he said. “Probably his only ideological leaning is not being pro-Russian. He spoke harshly about the Russian state and Russian political culture in private conversations.”

Despite Lukashenko’s reluctance to send forces to fight, Belarus is being pulled deeper into Moscow’s military embrace as the war goes on, in ways that will be difficult to untangle in the future.

In October, Lukashenko announced that a joint Russian-Belarusian force of 9,000 men would be based in Belarus, without explaining its role — although Russian officials said it would not fight in Ukraine.

Makei’s death was followed by a report from a little-known think tank that Putin was plotting to assassinate Lukashenko in a bid to take over the Belarusian military, a claim discounted by analysts.

In Ukraine’s capital, Putin’s attacks don’t dim the resolve to fight Russia

“It’s very hard to see how the Belarusian army could be expected by anyone to have any effect on the outcome of the war against Ukraine,” wrote Ruth Deyermond, an expert on post-Soviet security at King’s College London, in comments on Twitter, adding that such a move could trigger significant domestic unrest.

The military tensions in Belarus over the war have overshadowed Lukashenko’s harsh political crackdown since 2020 that was designed, like a similar Kremlin operation, to crush the opposition.

Lukashenko’s regime has relentlessly pursued people who took part in the peaceful 2020 protests, dragging people from their homes, beating them, recording forced confessions and jailing them.

Maria Kolesnikova, an imprisoned opposition leader who jointly led the 2020 presidential campaign against Lukashenko, was on Tuesday admitted to intensive care requiring emergency surgery after she was put into a punishment cell.

Kolesnikova’s lawyer had previously been denied access to her, and her family was denied information on what occurred to necessitate surgery.

Idaho murders latest: Neighbour slams suspicion from Reddit sleuths as Moscow to hold vigils for students

Idaho student murders: Police believe four killed in ‘targeted attack’

A neighbour of the four murdered University of Idaho students has hit out at the Reddit sleuths who have cast suspicion on him in the wake of the brutal stabbings.

Student Jeremy Reagan said on Tuesday that he has “nothing to hide” but admitted that it was “upsetting being compared to a murderer” after his previous media interviews became the subject of intense scrutiny on social media.

His comments came as Moscow Police Department seized five cars from the home of the victims and took them to “a more secure long-term storage location to continue processing evidence”.

On Wednesday, the Moscow community will hold vigils in honour of slain students Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kerndole and Ethan Chapin, who were found butchered in their beds back on 13 November.

The vigils were delayed until after the Thanksgiving break as terrified students fled the town. Police call logs analysed by The Independent reveal that, in the aftermath of the murders, locals remain on edge and have called 911 multiple times to report “suspicious” men and other disturbing incidents in the area.

Here’s why 911 caller may have said ‘unconscious individual’:

Ever since the four victims were found stabbed to death in an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho, questions have been swirling around the 911 call.

The students are believed to have been killed at around 3am or 4am on the morning of 13 November. The attack was brutal with each victim stabbed multiple times.

However, police were not called to the home until a 911 call was made at 11.58am on Sunday, alerting officers to an “unconscious individual” in the home on King Road.

Police said that the roommates slept through the murders and when they woke up on the Sunday, they called some unidentified friends to the home because they believed that one of the victims on the second floor “had passed out and was not waking up”.

After the friends arrived on the scene, the 911 call was made from one of the surviving roommates’ cell phones inside the home.

The officers found the bodies of two of the victims on the second floor and the other two victims on the third floor.

It is unclear what the roommates and “other friends” had discovered prior to placing the call and what led them to describe a victim as merely “unconscious”.

Kaylee Goncalves’ father Steve Goncalves provided some explanation about the events inside the home in an interview with ABC’s GMA on Tuesday, including why the caller described a victim as “unconscious”.

“I know the girls reached out via texting and calling so I can only assume by the phones being ignored,” he said.

“Knowing how my daughter is… that she’s not going to ignore calls and texting.”

Kaylee Goncalves’ father reveals details mystery ‘private party’ ride

Kaylee Goncalves’ father has revealed details about the mystery “private party” who gave his daughter and her best friend Madison Mogen a ride home not long before they were brutally murdered.

Mogen and Goncalves spent the night of 12 November at The Corner Club sports bar in downtown Moscow, police said.

They then paid a visit to the Grub Truck – a nearby late-night food truck where they ordered a bite to eat.

From there, police said a “private party” gave them a ride home, arriving back at the three-storey property on King Road at around 1.56am on 13 November.

Steve Goncalves told ABC’s GMA on Tuesday that it was a sorority-designated driver service that drove the two young women home.

Sorority-designated driver services are programs specifically designed to ensure that sorority members get home safely.

Local pizza place and students send food to police working case

A local pizza place and University of Idaho students have been fundraising and delivering food to police officers working on the murder case.

A fundraiser set up on spotfund.com is welcoming donations from members of the public, with the money then used to place orders with Moscow business Pizza Perfection.

“The Moscow, Idaho police and other agencies are working tirelessly to solve the murders of the four students,” the fundraiser reads.

“Though it’s not going to change their lives, we will order 16 XL pizzas to be delivered to the 50 of them there on any given day,” it continued.

“Sometimes a small gesture of support can go a long way to these traumatized, tired, and dedicated workers.”

Ex-FBI agent says probe shouldn’t be ‘hampered’ because of remote learning

Jonathan Gilliam, a former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent, said the investigation into the killing of four University of Idaho students shouldn’t be hampered because of the school’s decision to allow students to learn remotely after the Thanksgiving break.

“I don’t think the investigation is going to be hampered that much as long as the school and the police department are in touch with the students and ensuring them that they can call if they remember anything,” Mr Gilliam told Fox News.

“And I think that is what’s going to hamper things, is if they try to tamp this down and don’t stay in touch with the students and try to get people to refresh their memory, that could be an issue because people may have seen something that was a little bit out of the norm and they just tucked it away in their brain and didn’t say anything about it.”

Neighbour hits out at Reddit sleuths who claimed his media appearances were suspicious

A neighbour of the four Idaho murder victims has blasted internet sleuths who claimed that his media appearances were suspicious.

In a recent interview, Jeremy Reagan, a third-year law student from the Idaho University, said he went to bed early the night the murders took place. However, Reddit sleuths are finding his statements suspicious.

Mr Reagan addressed the online conspiracy theories about him and told Court TV on Tuesday that he “didn’t do it. I have nothing to hide. I’m willing to give DNA, fingerprints … whatever they need”.

In an earlier interview with Fox News, Mr Reagan had said, “I went to bed early that night” and “then a couple of hours later we got a message, and there was a bunch of police here. And then that was the end of normalcy for the past week or so here”.

Experts say law enforcement should not dismiss ‘incel’ angle

Forensic psychologist Kris Mohandie told Fox News Digital that the nature of the murder of the four University of Idaho students leads him to believe that law enforcement should take a close look at the suspect potentially being an “incel”.

“There’s a lot of hatred and anger that is evidenced in these crimes – the level of violence, the resolve, the obvious hostility in such a personal hands-on attack,” he said.

“That is a lot of intensity. So it is not inconsistent with somebody that may have that kind of motivation. There’s something hateful and rage-filled about it.”

Incel or “involuntary celibate” refers to an online misogynistic subculture of romantically frustrated men who fail to find partners.

Victim’s father reveals chilling reason family didn’t hold a funeral for her

The father of one of the four University of Idaho students stabbed to death says his family will not give her a funeral for fear that the “monster” who murdered her might attend.

Kaylee Goncalves was killed at an off-campus house in the city of Moscow, Idaho, in the early hours of 13 November, with police still hunting for the murderer.

Kaylee’s father, Steve Goncalves, says that the family has not been able to bring itself to have a commemoration for their daughter just yet.

“My wife’s biggest fear, part of the reason we didn’t have a funeral, is because she couldn’t be guaranteed that that monster was going to not be there,” he told ABC News.

Police seize five cars from crime scene

Police have seized five cars from the home where four University of Idaho students were brutally stabbed to death in a quadruple murder that has rocked the small college town of Moscow.

A tow truck removed the vehicles from outside the property on King Road on Tuesday – some of them believed to belong to the victims – and took them to “a more secure long-term storage location to continue processing evidence,” the Moscow Police Department said.

“Today, as part of the ongoing homicide investigation and original search warrant, there will be an increase in detective activity and tow trucks on-site as investigators move five vehicles from within the police perimeter to a more secure long-term storage location to continue processing evidence,” it said in a statement.

The vehices have reportedly already been searched by investigators, but will now undergo more detailed forensic analysis as the hunt for the killer continues.

The vehicles include two sedan cars, a Jeep Wrangler, and two SUVs that were parked outside the victims’ house on the night of the murders, according to Court TV.

Student urges university to do more to make campus feel safe

A University of Idaho student has opened up about the fear gripping her peers in the wake of the murders two weeks ago.

“There’s so much tension, there’s so much fear,” Megan Stanley told NewsNation as students returned from Thanksgiving break.

“With a couple of weeks left in the semester and finals approaching, campus should be full of students and really lively. And I feel like I’m only seeing a handful of students walking around.”

An apparel design student, Ms Stanley said some but not all of her classes have been moved online, meaning she and many others can’t finish the semester at home.

She said she and her peers “don’t really talk about” the killings because it’s so painful.

“We all know this is going on, but we don’t really talk about it because for a lot of us, it’s an emotional subject,” she said. “I didn’t know the victims personally, but a lot of my classmates who are in the Greek system did, and it’s a really hard subject to broach.”

Ms Stanley added that she wishes that more was being done by the university to make students feel safe.

“Scott Green, our president and Dr. (Blaine) Eckles, the dean of students — I’ve seen them tear up in the press conferences and everything. They’re feeling the same pain that we are,” she said.

“But I don’t feel that enough is being really done to reassure us as students or even just as a community.”

Ariana Biermann has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The 20-year-old daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak-Biermann was booked at Forsyth County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning after she and on-and-off boyfriend Hudson McLeroy were arrested at around 1 a.m., according to public records obtained by PEOPLE.

She was charged with three misdemeanors: driving under the influence of alcohol, improper/erratic lane change and underage possession/purchase of alcohol. Biermann has since been released on $5,120 bond.

McLeroy, 20, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, as well as allegedly furnishing alcohol to a minor and violating the conditions of his limited driving permit.

“Ariana was involved in a minor fender bender. When police arrived on scene, the investigating officer immediately initiated an investigation for DUI. Despite Ariana’s constant invocation that she was upset and anxious from the minor accident, the officer incorrectly concluded she was impaired by alcohol,” attorney Justin Spizman of Hawkins Spizman law firm told PEOPLE. “That was not the case. She wholly denies these allegations and intends to fight these charges because she is not guilty of them.”

The pair began dating in high school; at that time Biermann shared a sweet photo of the two of them in their formal finest before attending their homecoming dance in Oct. 2018, just days before her 17th birthday.

Zolciak-Biermann expressed her approval at the time, writing in the comments: “Where does the time go?? My angel @arianabiermann is headed to Homecoming with @hudson.mcleroy. Are they not the cutest!!?! They are only a few hours apart and will both turn 17 this week!!”

Fans have speculated that Biermann and McLeroy are back together after she posted a photo last month with a dark silhouette of herself kissing someone. “Glimpse of us,” she wrote in the caption.

Former NFL RB Marshawn Lynch arrested on suspicion of DUI in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested Tuesday in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving impaired, according to police.

Officers stopped the vehicle that Lynch, 36, was driving at about 7:30 a.m., concluded that he was impaired and detained him, police said in a statement. Lynch was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Authorities did not disclose whether Lynch was tested for driving impaired and did not immediately respond to an email message seeking additional details.

It was unclear if Lynch had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. Jail records did not show one listed for him.

Lynch played 12 season the NFL, mostly with the Seattle Seahawks.

He was a five-time Pro Bowler and had 10,413 career rushing yards and 85 rushing touchdowns from 2007 to ’19 with the Seahawks, the Buffalo Bills and the Oakland Raiders.

Lynch was arrested for DUI in 2012, but pleaded down to the lesser charge of reckless driving when the case was resolved in 2014.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
