Trying Panda Express for First Time, Sort of Worth It + Photos

I was pleasantly surprised by Panda Express since the food was nowhere near as bad or bland as I thought it would be.

I would try only a few items from Panda Express again.

Pascale Mondesir

Overall, I thought Panda Express’ food was decent when compared to meals I’ve had at Chinese restaurants.

Though Panda Express isn’t exactly super authentic, I still enjoyed the same flavors I’ve grown accustomed to at the hole-in-the-wall spots I visited in New York.

However, I wished Panda Express had more menu options. Aside from the appetizers, it seemed like all you can choose from for a meal included either rice, chow mein, or super greens, and some sort of meat entrée. The umbrella of Chinese food (or even Chinese-inspired food) is so broad and made up of a ton of unique, rich dishes so it would’ve been nice to see more options.

If I had to buy another bigger plate, I’d choose the chow mein with honey-walnut shrimp, string-bean chicken breast, and broccoli beef again.

Panda Express doesn’t beat the Chinese-food places I always run back to but this was still a pretty tasty adventure.

Sort of PS5 Slim: No hardware upgrades and no disc drive compatibility with PlayStation 5 Digital Edition for the modular PS5 “Gen 2” console

There might be some considerable criticism heading Sony’s way soon if new details about the so-called modular PS5 shared by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson are true. The source has frequently discussed upgrades and changes to the PlayStation 5, and he revealed that there was work ongoing with a console that would have a detachable disk drive, which will eventually replace the current PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition devices. This “PS5 Gen 2” would have a slimmer profile thanks to its modular nature, so it could even end up being the widely expected PS5 Slim.

While official word about a PS5 Slim would undoubtedly excite the community, Henderson’s latest tweet about PlayStation matters will likely not. Firstly, he states, “doesn’t seem like there are any major hardware changes from the original console”. So, this apparent PS5 v2 device will clearly not be any kind of PS5 Pro machine, and it won’t be the frequently rumored console coming with an improved custom SoC from AMD inside it. A sort of PlayStation 5 Slim console may be the best fans can hope for in regard to something new turning up in 2023.

However, Henderson rubs salt into the wound with the second part of his post, claiming, “disc drive likely won’t be compatible with the current digital version”. So, all those PlayStation 5 Digital Edition owners out there, and there are millions of them, may feel a pang of disappointment and even disapproval that this modular next-generation PS5 will be incapable of sharing its detachable disc drive with them. Some commenters have even called this potential situation a kind of money grab from Sony.

According to the source, production of this PlayStation 5 revision will start in April, and it could be available to buy in September. This means there will be a lot more leaks about the device to come yet, and it seems likely that Sony will make sure a PS5 Gen 2 will have plenty of selling points. If this rumored 2023 variant actually does end up being the PS5 Slim, there will still be many flocking to buy a slimmed-down and lighter PlayStation 5 console, regardless of it having a detachable and backwards incompatible disc drive.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is of ‘most depraved sort’ -Pentagon

WASHINGTON, April 29 (Reuters) – Pentagon spokesman John Kirby on Friday accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of depravity and brutality in his two-month old invasion of Ukraine.

“It’s brutality of the coldest and the most depraved sort,” Kirby told reporters.

“I don’t think we fully appreciated the degree to which he would visit that kind of violence and cruelty and as I said depravity, on innocent people, on non-combatants, on civilians, with such utter disregard for the lives he was taking,” he said.

Mario Kart 8 DLC Race Tracks Are Accessible For Free, Sort Of

Screenshot: Nintendo / YouTube

If you’re not planning to buy the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8, don’t worry. You’re not completely out of luck. The new premium tracks will be randomly available for players playing Global or Regional races online. If one of your friends owns a copy of the DLC, you don’t have to purchase it when you’re playing with them in a group either.

As originally reported by Eurogamer, the first wave of premium courses will be available for Random selection when playing Global or Regional races online, starting March 22. Alternatively, you can play them as soon as March 18 by playing in Friends and Rivals races with someone who already purchased the DLC. So someone still needs to buy the DLC, or you’d need to pay for the Nintendo Switch Online bundle. But that’s still cheaper than everyone in your local Mario Kart meetup purchasing the DLC for themselves.

This information has been detailed in the U.K. version of Nintendo’s website, but it is not available on the U.S. website. Kotaku reached out to Nintendo for clarification, but it did not respond at the time of publication.

The newest Mario Kart 8 DLC was announced at the Nintendo Direct on February 9. The DLC consists of remasters of race courses from older Mario Kart games, and Nintendo intends to release them within six waves each made up of eight courses. The first of which will be available March 18, and the full collection of the promised 48 tracks will be released by the end of 2023. Players who have the expanded version of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription can access all the DLC as soon as they are released. Otherwise, you can buy the pack separately for $24.99
