Flying high: 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with 37 miles on it just sold for $220,000
Talk about inflation!
A like-new 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that that has been driven just 37 miles was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction for $220,000.
The car had been stored in a Michigan farm building and was covered in dust when it was recently purchased by a car restoration company.
Restore A Muscle Car marketing manager Tom Hegland told Fox News Digital that it was one of four identical Trans Ams that were purchased by a family as investments, and this one could be the lowest-mileage example from the model year left.
RARE 1970 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE MUSCLE CAR SOLD FOR RECORD $1.1 MILLION
It is a well-equipped hardtop with a 6.6-liter V8 engine, automatic transmission, power everything and the iconic Screaming Chicken decal on the hood.
The black coupe hardly needed any work to get running, just new fluids, a fuel system flush and a battery.
Hegland did not say how much his shop paid for it, but the car cost just $8,300.45 when it was new, the original paperwork says.

While a similar vehicle in concours condition should be worth around $70,000, according to Hagerty, that valuation does not take into account one that has hardly been driven.
The folks bidding on it at the auction did, however, and it ended up selling for $220,000.
That is nearly double the $118,250 that was paid at a Mecum Auctions event last January for a blue 1979 Firebird Trans Am with 38 miles on the odometer, marking a significant appreciation for the model over the past year.

A Complete List of Movies Sold at Sundance 2023
Nam June Paik: Moon Is the Oldest TV.

Sundance returned to Park City, Utah, this year in the flesh (and blood). Thank In My Mother’s Skin, a cannibalistic fairy tale from Filipino director Kenneth Dagatan, for the latter. After a couple years of COVID-related virtual festivals and big-ticket deals made from a social distance, Hollywood-studio bigwigs, A24 execs, and the streamers are back at the festival and vying for rights to the hottest movies in the dead of January. Could the industry be rattled by the somewhat bleak 2022 — what with Omicron and half-empty theaters causing less public engagement and lower revenues — leading decision-makers to broker increasingly modest deals and avoid bidding wars? Could a particularly splashy hit (or two?) ride the wave of a successful premiere and get snatched up for tons of money? Will multiple movies make a wave, setting themselves up for pricey distribution deals, theatrical or otherwise?
Netflix scored the first big Sundance deal with Fair Play — a thriller set in the ruthless finance world starring Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich — for a whopping $20 million on January 23. That same day, Searchlight nabbed Ben Platt and Molly Gordon–led mockumentary Theater Camp for somewhere around $8 million. An all-night bidding battle between Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video resulted in the festival’s second-highest deal: The iPad purveyor landed Flora and Son for just under $20 million on January 24, the streamer’s biggest Sundance deal since it acquired CODA in 2021 for a festival-record $25 million. All the dust will settle January 29, when the festivities come to an end and the real analysis can occur. For now, here’s a list of all the movies sold at Sundance 2023 so far (and how much they went for).

Montecito bookstore reveals it has only sold 30 copies of Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare
Prince Harry’s local bookstore has revealed that it has only sold around 30 copies of the royal’s controversial autobiography Spare.
The bombshell tome, which pocketed Harry, 38, a rumoured £16 million ($20 million) advance, has been selling well – becoming the fastest selling non-fiction book since records began, according to its publisher.
But the book has reportedly not been performing as well in Harry and Meghan’s, 41, upmarket California enclave of Montecito.
Owner of local book store the Tecolote Book Shop, Mary Sheldon, told the Guardian that she has only shifted some 30 copies of Spare since its release.
While Prince Harry (pictured in London in 2020) has shifted many copies of his controversial biography Spare, a local bookseller says they have only sold some 30 books
Describing Spare by saying ‘it’s a book’, Mary added that some further copies have been reserved by locals, who are planning to collect their copy in person.
She said of Prince Harry: ‘He took time to gather his thoughts and wanted to publish it, so I am here to sell it.’
The autobiography has sold 750,000 copies across all formats – print, audio and e-book – in the UK since its publication on January 10.
This makes it the biggest selling memoir ever for its first week of publication, according to publishers Transworld, the UK division of Penguin Random House.
Prince Harry’s scathing memoir Spare (pictured) has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book since records began
Official figures from Nielsen BookData showed the book, which was written by celebrity ghostwriter JR Moehringer, sold 467,183 print copies in its first week alone.
The data released by Nielsen shows the book has broken the previous record of 210,506 set by the first Pinch Of Nom cookbook – written by Kay Allinson – in 2019.
Despite the memoir being leaked in Spain ahead of the official publication date, Nielsen’s data suggest sales were not negatively affected.
Prince Harry made several claims about the royal family and revealed painfully personal anecdotes in his explosive memoir Spare, which was released on January 10.
Despite its massive global sales, the book has not been selling well locally, according to the owner of Tecolote Book Shop (pictured) in Montecito
The book covers every aspect of his life, charting the disconnect with his elder sibling – whom he calls ‘Willy’ – that started from the moment he was born, when Charles allegedly declared that his duty was done.
He accuses William, 40, of being immersed in his position as future heir to the throne, claims he ignored him when they were pupils at Eton College, and says he repeatedly put him in his place.
In one paragraph Harry, who is affectionately called ‘Harold’ by his family, describes himself as feeling like he was born to be the ‘spare kidney’ for his elder brother.
Harry also accuses his elder brother of being the aggressor during ‘Megxit’, claiming their relationship had become so strained and damaged that William would only ‘scowl’ at him.
In the book, Harry (pictured, right) details the fallout with his brother William (pictured, right), as well as describing rifts with other family members
He describes several particularly awkward meetings between himself, Meghan, William and Kate, saying his brother and sister-in-law appeared uncomfortable at being hugged by his future wife.
He also appears to accuse the Princess of Wales of over-reacting by demanding an apology from Meghan after she fell out with Kate over wedding plans.
Kate was apparently offended that Meghan attributed forgetfulness to ‘baby brain’ after the birth of Prince Louis.
Harry also reveals that the two couples even rowed over seating plans and whether William and Kate should be put together.
He says when William confronted Meghan and defended his wife, Meghan snapped back at the prince, ‘take your finger out of my face’. While Charles is spared more pain than many had expected, Harry paints him as an ineffectual father who wasn’t even able to hug him when telling him of his mother’s death in a car crash.
He says that when he confided in Charles about suffering panic attacks as a grown man, the prince looked at his plate sadly and said he had failed him.
However, in what are sure to be distressing passages for the King, Harry describes how when he returned to the UK to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, a clearly distressed Charles wailed at his warring sons not to make his ‘final years a misery’.
1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona muscle car sold for record $1.43 million
It’s a winged car that flew higher than any before it.
A 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona was sold at the Mecum Auctions event in Kissimmee, Florida, for a record $1.43 million, beating the $1.3 million mark set last May.
The Charger-based Daytona was built for just one year to homologate its aerodynamic body for NASCAR racing.
The Daytona and its Plymouth Superbird twin sibling are among the most iconic racing cars in history, with their signature nosecones and high rear wings engineered to dominate NASCAR’s high-speed ovals.
HERE’S WHEN THE LAST V8 DODGE MUSCLE CAR WILL BE REVEALED
They were so good that NASCAR quickly changed the rules to prohibit such extreme designs.
Just 503 Daytonas were built for the street in 1969 and many have been lost to history, as they were initially unpopular among buyers and treated with none of the respect they get today.
Of those only 70 were ordered with Dodge’s legendary 426 cubic-inch Hemi V8 and just 22 matched the motor to a four-speed manual transmission.
The Daytona auctioned by Mecum had both features and was the only one of the 22 painted T5 Copper Metallic with a white wing stripe and a tan interior, making it a truly unique car.
It’s also the lowest-mileage Hemi Daytona with its original engine known to exist and has just 6,490 miles on its odometer.

The car has had a notable list of owners over the years, including the late Los Angeles Times owner Otis Chandler, NFL Hall of Famer Kevin Greene and actor David Spade, whose character drove a beat-up Daytona in his comedy film “Joe Dirt”.
Spade paid $900,000 for the car in 2015, which was an auction record for the model at the time.
It was one of a dozen Daytonas and Superbirds offered at Mecum by its most recent owner, collector Gary Edwards, with the rest selling at prices ranging from $247,500 to $742,500, but it wasn’t the only one that went for $1.43 million.

In a remarkable coincidence, a Daytona NASCAR racing car that was driven by Bobby Allison was offered at Kissimmee by a different consignor and sold for the exact same amount as the street car, which also set a record for the competition version of the car.
Dodge will be bringing back the Daytona name in 2024 on a very different kind of car. The Charger Daytona SRT will be the brand’s first all-electric model and will replace its V8-powered cars, which will be discontinued at the end of 2023.
Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ sets record for first-day sales with 1.4 million copies sold amid royal fallout
Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir “Spare” has been flying off the shelves since its highly anticipated release.
First-day sales for the controversial book topped 1.4 million copies, according to publishing company Penguin Random House.
Harry’s book was penned to give readers an inside look into Harry’s personal life as he opened up about grieving his mother’s death in 1997 and his long-simmering resentment at the role of royal “spare,” overshadowed by the “heir” – older brother Prince William.
PRINCE HARRY, MEGHAN MARKLE’S DOCUSERIES HAS BOOK PUBLISHER ‘WORRIED’ MEMOIR SALES WILL SUFFER: ROYAL EXPERT
He recounted arguments and a physical altercation with William, revealed how he lost his virginity and confessed to using illicit drugs.
Sales for “Spare” include hardcover, audiobook and e-book editions sold worldwide, including in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
“The first full day of sales of ‘Spare’ represents the largest first-day sales total for any nonfiction book ever published by Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade publisher,” the publisher shared in a statement to People.
The Duke of Sussex’s memoir is “the story of someone we may have thought we already knew, but now we can truly come to understand Prince Harry through his own words,” Gina Centrello, president and publisher of the Random House Group, said in a statement, according to The Associated Press.
The book’s global release date was Jan. 10 and is priced at $36 in the United States.
Since Harry and wife Meghan Markle announced they were taking “a step back” as senior members of the royal family, the pair have been releasing several public projects, while speaking out against the monarchy.

Like a dark cloud, the release of “Spare” has loomed over the king’s upcoming coronation in May. Harry’s father became king upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Sept. 8. Britain’s longest-reigning monarch was 96.

Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti told Fox News Digital that the royal family is said to be “quite angry” with Harry’s latest actions. He noted that King Charles’ response was clear when he recently altered proceedings in his coronation.
“Even if Harry and Meghan are invited, one would expect that they would find a polite way not to attend after all the trouble they have caused,” he said. “But one can never quite predict their behavior. … [The royals] have to act carefully. … By not reacting publicly, they are at least leaving open the possibility that things can calm down. This allows the possibility of conversations to take place in the future, which might allow some form of reconciliation.”
Fox News Digital’s Stephanie Nolasco and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Public Bitcoin miners sold almost everything they mined in 2022
Publicly listed Bitcoin (BTC) miners sold off almost all of the Bitcoin they mined throughout 2022, leading to a debate over whether the sales created “a persistent headwind” for the Bitcoin price or not.
Analyst Tom Dunleavy from blockchain research firm Messari shared the data in a Dec. 26 tweet, indicating that approximately 40,300 of the 40,700 BTC mined by Core Scientific, Riot, Bitfarms, Cleans Park, Marathon, Hut8, HIVE, Iris Energy, Argo and Bit Digital from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30 was sold off.

— Tom Dunleavy (@dunleavy89) December 26, 2022
The reserves held by mining firms have decreased considerably during the latter half of 2022, particularly throughout November, as the crypto industry reeled from the effects of the FTX fallout.
Dunleavy believes that miners consistently selling off newly produced Bitcoin places downward pressure on the price of the leading cryptocurrency.
However, some industry commentators such as BitMEX’s former CEO, Arthur Hayes, believe the selling pressure created by the increased sales of Bitcoin miners is negligible.
He opined in a Dec. 9 blog post that “even if miners sold all the Bitcoin they produced each day, it would barely impact the markets at all.”
According to Bitcoin Visuals, on Dec. 26 the daily trading volume for Bitcoin was $12.2 billion. The outflow from miners on the same day, according to CryptoQuant, was 919 BTC ($15.35 million), which represents just 0.13% of the total volume traded.
Miner’s reserves have rebounded slightly during December, increasing by nearly 1%. The figure contributes to the view shared in a Dec. 27 post by crypto analyst IT Tech that the situation for miners appears to be stabilizing.

Miners have faced significant headwinds throughout the year, with high electricity prices, falling crypto market prices and a higher mining difficulty eating into their bottom line.
With the cost of production for miners increasing while the Bitcoin price has been decreasing, miners such as Core Scientific have been forced to sell some of their reserves at a loss to fund their ongoing operations and efforts to expand.
North Korea Sold Arms to Russia’s Wagner Group, U.S. Says
North Korea has delivered arms to Russia’s private military group Wagner, the White House said Thursday, calling the mercenary enterprise a “rival” for power to the defense and other ministries in the Kremlin.
The United States will boost sanctions against Wagner following North Korea’s sale of infantry rockets and missiles to the group last month, in violation of UN Security Council resolutions, said White House national security spokesman John Kirby.
“Wagner is searching around the world for arms suppliers to support its military operations in Ukraine,” Kirby told reporters.
“We can confirm that North Korea has completed an initial arms delivery to Wagner, which paid for that equipment,” he said.
According to Kirby the group, which is independent of the Russian defense establishment and is leading a bloody siege of Bakhmut, Ukraine, is spending more than $100 million each month in its Ukraine operations.
“Wagner is emerging as a rival power center to the Russian military and other Russian ministries,” Kirby said.
‘Sign of desperation’
In a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency, the North Korean foreign ministry denied conducting any arms transaction with Russia, saying the story was “cooked up by some dishonest forces for different purposes.”
However, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said the U.K. concurs with the American assessment that North Korea delivered arms to Russia for the Wagner group in violation of UN resolutions.
“The fact that President (Vladimir) Putin is turning to North Korea for help is a sign of Russia’s desperation and isolation,” Cleverly said in a statement.
“We will work with our partners to ensure that North Korea pays a high price for supporting Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine.”
Close to Putin
The Wagner group is controlled by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman once called “Putin’s chef” for his work catering dinners for the powerful leader before and after he became the Russian president.
A vocal critic of the Russian defense establishment’s handling of the war in Ukraine, Prigozhin, 61, runs a number of diverse businesses out of his Concord Catering group in St. Petersburg.
One is the Internet Research Agency, the notorious St. Petersburg internet “troll farm” that conducted a massive online operation to interfere with the US elections to help then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2016.
For that Prigozhin and several others in the operation were indicted in the United States in 2018.
Just last month, he boasted of the operation.
“We interfered, we are interfering and we will interfere,” he said.
He has also been hit with U.S. and European Union sanctions several times, particularly for Wagner Group activities.
The mercenary-like army has been carrying out operations — ostensibly private but implicitly approved by the Kremlin — in Syria, Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic and other countries in Africa.
In several locations they have been accused of participating in atrocities. They have been accused of taking part with government forces in the massacre of 300 civilians in Moura, Mali in March 2022.
In Ukraine, the group has served as an elite special forces-type operation that has better training, equipment and supplies than the mainstream Russian military.
Convict recruits sent to front
Prigozhin himself reportedly dubbed the intense fight in Bakhmut a “meat grinder,” saying it would destroy the Ukraine army.
But Wagner itself has taken significant casualties, and Prigozhin has relied on prisons to supply Wagner with convicts to fill out its ranks.
Kirby estimated that the Wagner force now numbers about 50,000, including 10,000 skilled “contractors” and 40,000 convicts.
In Bakhmut and other areas of heavy fighting, Ukraine forces say the relatively untrained convicts have been forced to the front, where many have been killed or injured.
According to U.S. information, Kirby said, 90 percent of the estimated 1,000 Wagner fighters killed in the fighting in recent weeks were convicts.
“It seems as though Mr. Prigozhin is willing to just throw Russian bodies into the meat grinder in Bakhmut,” he said.
Kirby said Prigozhin appeared more interested in “influence peddling at the Kremlin” than protecting his troops.
“For him, it’s all about how good he looks to Mr. Putin, and how well he’s regarded at the Kremlin,” Kirby said.
Sonic Frontiers Has Sold 2.5 Million Copies
Sonic frontiers has sold more than 2.5 million copies since its launch on November 6.
An official tweet from Sega (below) revealed the 2.5 million figure, which presumably takes into account units sold globally across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC platforms where the title is available.
Sega unveiled the 2023 roadmap for Sonic Frontiers earlier in November, showing that the open world action game would receive three updates throughout the year. These will bring new challenge modes, a photo mode, a new playable character, and fresh story content to the fast-paced adventure title.

Sonic Frontiers’ launch didn’t go entirely without issues, however, as the game suffered from significant pop-in issues when it was released.
Regardless, the positive fan reaction to Sonic’s move to an open world format was enough to make the title a serious contender for the fan voted Player’s Voice category at The Game Awards 2022.
In our review, IGN gave the game a 7/10, stating that “Sonic Frontiers is a delightfully weird and experimental evolution of the Sonic games so many of us grew up with”.
